1. "hate" party
tanya ,   tel aviv israel   (03.23.10)
your, so called, party is "dead corpse". don"t even dream of getting even 1 mandate.
2. Sickened
Baruch   (03.23.10)
I am religious, but I am sickened by what is happening here. Why can't the graves just be moved? By the way, I have heard that a few chareidi neighborhoods in Jerusalem are built over Jewish graves. Is this true?
3. precious graves
jongo ,   australia   (03.23.10)
So Israel wants to build the Simon Wiesenthal Centre for Supposed Peace on a Palestinian gravesite and wants to spend $150 million on moving a hospital because it could possibly be on a Jewish gravesite. No moral issues there. Chances are, if it's an ancient grave at Ashkelon it's probably just full of Philistines, so you may be blowing your money.
4. one-issue party
Michael ,   Haifa   (03.23.10)
However laudable the issue maybe, the party will fall or stand on its positions as regards more crucial matters. If it is going to be yet another "centrist" party, then it is doomed to failure, for centrist psrties say nothing.
5. lessons from holocaust
alexi   (03.23.10)
Not all of israel has learned the lessons of the holocaust. Some Jews have been studious and pious through the years but fall short when it comes to physical and self defense. This applies mostly to the haredi who get exemptions. God helps those who help themselves in all ways including martial arts. Study of torah is not meant to take away from physical development but has been practised that way. Why is it that the haredi appear as weaklings, almost inviting attack. Bullies don't attack confident able bodied people. New rulings are needed by the appropriate bodies to command haredi to do martial service and right now. This is the one sector along with draft dodgers or evaders that is making israel more vulnerable.
6. About time to !
Avi ,   Israel   (03.23.10)
We the hard working, tax paying , army serving citizens of this country have had enough of religious coercion. Enough is enough. The charidem a fanatical bunch of parasites who contribute nothing yet at the same time milk the system dry for their own selfish needs have gone to far. Lets hope Yair Lapid takes over in his fathers footsteps. Seperate religion and state now, before its to late the only alternative is a civil war where we give the Charideem what they deserve.
7. The idea is ludicrous. Pity it's taken seriously.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (03.23.10)
One consequence of Israel's political system is the temptation to create yet another party over one issue or another. Heck, when I was 22 after my time in Israel I suggested if I were to return I'd push for another party; I even came up with a name for it. But these ex-MKs should be beyond the foolishness of youth. Nor should it be necessary even with the current political lineup. Labor isn't religious; neither is Yisrael Beitenu. Even Likud draws from traditionalists, not the ultras. So how is it the ultras were able to get cabinet approval for the relocation proposal? Because Netanyahu didn't think it merited due diligence, and the rest were doing back-room deals.
8. they have my support
marko ,   tel aviv   (03.23.10)
any party outright against the haradim and the religious will get my vote and full support. Its about time state and religion are seperated
9. Avante amigos !!!!!!
Sagi   (03.23.10)
I am with you all the way. If I could cast two votes I would do so. Please get it right this time. "Shinui' means "change". You did not deliver the change last time. Listen to what the People want. Separate religion from State. Direct electoral system, not a half baked hybrid as Pines wants. Constitution. Please get it right.
10. Ridiculous pretext: Even former Shas MK says no relig. issue
Israeli Centrist   (03.23.10)
Yesterday in army radio interviews, MANY religious people came out squarely against moving the proposed ER. This included former Shas MK, Shlomo Benizri, a Bar Ilan professor of Talmud, and a young "settler" leader. The upshot was that Maimonides and many other rabbis were clear that it's not an issue. The ones making it an issue are certain chareidim and certain anti-religious Israelis; the former unnecessarily because they want to impose chumrot on the nation (but never at their own personal/budgetary expense), and the latter for political gain- to try and revive something that is better off dead.
11. #9 and Sagi as PM
Avi ,   Israel   (03.23.10)
Gets my vote :-) the time has come for change, Israel will not become a jewish version of Iran, the charideem have got away with it to long. So ill be your foreign minister if you like, well lets face it i couldnt do any worse than Liberman could i ?
12. Not only do they milk the state
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.23.10)
to whom they don't contribute . now they want us to throw OUR money away . And , you know why Litzmann is only vice-minister ? Because a minister has to swear fidelity to the State !
13. boring
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.23.10)
The new secular party has been in the works since Netanyahu's election with the press publishing hate-the -religious stories every so often, and journalist Yair Lapid sending out hints that he is willing to lead the party. Just like the fake Centrist Party and Shinui, the party exists only to gain anti-religious votes and transfer them to a Leftist-coalition.
14. Interesting talkbacks - for a change ;)
Tomer ,   Hod Hasharon, Israel   (03.23.10)
Seems like nobody here is actually supporting the relocation of the ER. But it's likely going to go ahead, at the cost of 135 million shekels - about 20 shekels for every citizen of the country. I can think of many things I'd prefer to blow 20 shekels on. How do we stop this daft proposal going ahead?
15. #2 I think there is one around...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (03.23.10)
...Rosh Hayain. Or they might have just decided that the graves weren't Jewish -- they really wanted to live there and had already invested a lot of money in the project. Solution for the ER in Ashkelon: they can ask to be taken to another hosptial. Like Beer Sheva or Asaf HaRofe. Enough of this necrophia!!!
