Since the beginning of the US led peace scam,they have turned a blind eye to Palestinian noncompliance and shown extreme bias against Israel. The policy of always restraining Israel and interfering in it's sovereignty has reached new lows with targeting Jewish homes in the capitol and elsewhere while remaining silent on rockets fired into Israel from the Gaza which failed US land for lies policy created. In your article you mentioned Israel seized Jerusalem. It was the Jordanians that took control of East Jerusalem in 1948 and we, Israelis, liberated the city in 1967 as well as the Shomron and Judea. During the 19 years that the Jordanians occupied the Old City of Jerusalem they deliberately used the Western Wall, Kotel, as a toilet and garbage dump and destroyed all the synagogues in the city. Jews were not allowed to worship in their holiest place. They destroyed ancient Jewish graves on the Mount of Olives. We will not return to a situation where we can not go to our holy places, we will not allow a situation where Jerusalem is divided it has been Israels capital for over 3000 years and will remain so. Jerusalem was never the capital of a people (the Palestinians) that only came into existance in 1967 before that the arab residence of Judea and Shomron had Jordanian passports. They never had a currency etc. Jordan occupies 78% of the mandate land and has a Palestinain population which is 77% of its people. This means that Jordan IS Palestine.

I personally believe that the definition of Jerusalem should be clarified: 1) The old city (of Jerusalem): this is the part that contains the kotel and the holy shrines of the other major religions. The boarders of the old city are defined by the wall around it. This old city should always remain in Israeli hands. Israel is the only country that ensures that worshippers of all major religions can freely exercise their spiritual belief. 2) The rest of Jerusalem: to me, this could be part of negotiations. Because honestly: the way we define the borders of Jerusalem has changed continuously over the course of history. The definition of what is Jerusalem today, is not how Jerusalem was defined e.g. 50 years ago, let alone 100 years ago. It goes without saying that the west part of Jerusalem will remain in Israeli hands, but the East part of the city (excluding the old city!) is a different world altogether. Anyone who has entered the east part of the city must acknowledge that that part of town is basically a different town, although today we’ve decided to call it Jerusalem. My point is this: how we define the boarders of Jerusalem should be part of discussions with our neighbours. The only red line for me is discussions on the status of the old city of Jerusalem. P.s. I fully support Barack Obama and his administration in pressuring our PM to ensure that talks with the Palestinians will start as soon as possible: I’m tired of hamatzav!

James, we don't have to be on our own: if our PM decides that he will not work together with the American administration, he himself has isolated the Jewish people. I believe that the Americans will always help us, but that doesn’t mean that they will always agree with our way of looking at the world. The US is our only ally, and to me it is more important to ensure that that will stay the case than irritating them to the point where they will look the other way.

Arik--The borders of Jerusalem must also be defensible. If the old city is surrounded on 3 sides by enemies, how will you defend the city. I live on the West coast of USA and you are extremely naive if you believe the US will defend Israel. I invite you to visit so you can wake up to reality that Israel must act in its own interests.
