1. Self-immolation would have been a better protest.

I do think we as Jews should adopt his reasoning though. Every time one of his moose lamb brothers kills a Jew we should destroy a mosque. Sadly if that policy had been in place since 1990 there would be no mosques in all of Israel now

Resistor   (03.31.10)
Will the same rule apply to church attacks, mosque attacks, Kingdom Hall attacks etc??

The short answer to your question is YES. I don't know what country you live in, but if you bothered to check, you would have learned that an attack against ANY house of worship will be investigated as a hate crime in the United States. So you can get off your implied accusation that it's only an attack against a synagogue that receives that kind of attention.

NYc girl, I had to check. There is always a little bias in your country, favouring those of the Hebrew persuasion-no?
6. #3 If what you say is true...

then cite some specific examples of this bias.

The sheer number of people who believe Jews always get the red carpet and/or secretly control everything in the world never ceases to amaze me. Been reading the Protocols of the Elders of Zion lately, Resistor, no?

yes, jdl...this is why he is in jail, you moron! and by the way, no jews ever attacked a palestinian mosque anywhere in the world, including israel. show me one case where israelis or jews attacked a mosque????? or a church????? in israel. not a single case can be documented anywhere in the world and no where in israel proper. on the other hand, muslims attack other religious sites, churches and synagogues with impunity all over the world and also in israel. do you remember the fateh attacking the church of the selpucher and holling up in there destroying christian palestinian bibles using them as toilette paper? do you remember muslims attacking synagogues and jews in europe and israel???? do you rememebr muslims burning joseph's tomb in israel and hacking it with axes and painting its roof green as in a palestinian flag? do you remember muslims attacking churches in malaysia and indonesia and killing christians? do you remember muslims blowing up the budha sculptures in afghanistan? do you remember muslims in the usa and europe attacking synagogues and jewish rabbis walking down the streets? do you remember muslims killing alimi in france and burning his body??? i can show you millions of such incidences both in the mid east and in europe. however, jews are not violent and they do not practice the destreuction of other religions and religious sites that are different than their religion. this destruction is the work of muslims all over the world, not of jews or israelis. hameed aboughaze, iranian

there is no bias. americans as a whole would rather side with the enlightened freedom loving democratic people of the world. people that are intelligent, productive, democratic, smart, educated, enlightened and modern. these are the jews in general compared to the arabs and muslims stuck in the 7th century that are mainly illiterate, hateful, antisemitic, intollerant, backwords and generally hateful people towards everyone. america has an affinity with the enlightened people rooted in judeo christian values and edemocracy. israel is a bastion of democracy as jews are a bastion of enlightment and progressiveness in american society here and in israel. this is why you see the americans favor jews reather than miuslims.

Check again. The largest number of hate crimes in the United States are perpetrated against Jews, Jewish houses of worship and Jewish organizations. Hebrew is not a persuasion. It is a language. Judaism is the religion; the people are known either as Jews or Israel. You don't seem to know much.

You will have to look far and wide to find a people more respectful of other peoples' faiths than Jews. Moreover, I point out that in upholding the law, the Court of Appeals applied the only possible interpretation. I remind you that in New York State, under U.S. federal law and in every other American jurisdiction that I know of, application of the law follows intent, not efficacy. The intent was to blow up a synagogue full of Jews. The intent was thwarted. A crime was still committed and, frankly, were I prosecuting the case, I would have gone for attempted murder of every individual that would have been affected had the Molotov cocktails worked. The shul in question was in Riverdale, and a successful attack would have been gruesome. This Palestinian should remain behind bars for the duration of his natural life. Had he not been so inept, the consequences of his act would have been devastating. That was certainly his intent and, as I said earlier, application of the law follows intent, not efficacy.

AlexB ,   Toronto, Canada   (03.31.10)
so should I find the nearest mosque in Toronto and do the same because it'll "stop the violence" in Chechnya/Moscow? Ummm... no. I hope he rots the full 15 years in jail, as a start

err ... no jews ever attacked any religious building (mosque, church what have you ... )?? let me see ... err, yeah .. two examples come to mind .. what about that mosque in the WB that was arsoned and damaged by those settlers not too long ago (december 2009?)? .. remember? the IDF/police/border guards/whatever arrested a bunch of youths and a rabbi as well .. after weeks of course, .. and then released them (of course) ... then there was also the much more serious incident of that lunatic that burst into a mosque with an assault rifle (when was that - a few years back .. 2003? 2004?).. how many people did he kill again? ... .. so, err, .. yeah whatever ...

(1) if a corrupt religious faithful throws a firebomb to his/her business competitor's building next door and some of that landed on his/her Temple/Church, is that a hate crime? (2) if the cleaning labor unions goes on strike and that effects the Temple or Church, because the maids or floor sweeper went on strike leaving the Temple or Church unsweep and unclean. Is that a hate crime? (3) is NY city anti-religious?
15. #4 - Yes he is in jail but Samir Kuntar
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (03.31.10)
Yest the JDL guy who many years ago made a terror attack is still in jail and will rot in jail. However Samir Kuntar the Arab who killed an Israeli family and their baby is free and considered a hero by Arabs. See the difference?

If you give me an example of a Mosque that was attacked in the USA then I can find you the answer. Such an attack is not very common as attacks on Jewish worship locations are.

The arson and damage were subsequently discovered to have been the work of Palestinians who wished to foment violence. They torched their own mosque, Jan. The lunatic that burst into the Al Aqsa mosque was precisely that -- a lunatic. He is serving a very long prison sentence, and then has the balance of his life in a hospital for the criminally insane to which to look forward. Would you like to chat a bit about the 48 Jewish synagogues in Jerusalem that were dynamited by the Jordanians in 1948? Do you have any idea what happened to all the synagogues in Algeria? Iraq? Et cetera, ad nauseum? What about the thousands of synagogues set alight (sometimes with the Jewish worshipers locked inside) over the centuries in Europe?. Let's chat about that, shall we? Err, yeah, whatever ....
