4. Poor Lebanon! Your "leaders" are selling out your country
Joe ,   Canada   (03.31.10)
The submission of nearly all Lebanon leaders to the temporary power usurpers of Syria & their even more shaky mentors in Tehran & Hizbollah proxies is nothing less than disgusting & a betrayal of their people, their freedom to live an independant peaceful life. Now Lebanese are the pawns of a chess game played at their expense by others with their own agenda.
5. The Obama policy of "imposed" peace is causing this
Robert ,   USA   (03.31.10)
The new policy of holding Israel at a distance while only making weak gestures of military actions or sanctions to stop Iran from getting the bomb is killing people already and will cause more death in the future. It is only natural for Arab nations and leaders to see this as a sea change and to feel compelled to align themselves more closely with Iran and Israel's enemies so as not to became enemies of a strong and unopposed Iran. This is a HUGE mistake on the US's part and it will cost more lives soon.

After this revolution Lebanon finally had a chance to be an independent state when the people rose up and drove out the Syrian troops who had been occupying the country for the past 30 years because Syria has never recognized Lebanon and see it as a province or Greater Syria. The anti Syrians took control and it looked like Lebanon would decide its own future. Then they let Syrias proxy armyt Hizbollah back in a position of power and they un officially once agreed to become a syrian sattalite this time under the guise of diplomacy. Now they are syrian puppets again. If the Lebanese had been start as soon as the nationalists came to power they would have tried to open behind the scenes peace talks with Israel. There are not as many issues to solve and together Lebanon & Israel could have created a strong anti Syria alliance and it would have possibly even ended with an end to hostilties between Israel & Lebanon. Instead they allowed Hizbollah to drag Israel into another war against Lebanon on Syrias orders and now Syria runs the country again.
12. Hizbulla in Lebanon is not protecting Lebanon against Israel
Ron B. ,   Lod   (04.01.10)
Hizbullah in Lebanon is not protecting Lebanon against Israel. Hizbullah has already made clear that even if Israel withdraws from all disputed areas along the Lebanese border, it would not halt its fight against Israel seeking to liberate all of the land between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. Hizbullah in Lebanon is not protecting Lebanon against Israel that is eager to conclude a peace treaty with that country but protecting its own self interest which is to stay in business. The fact that Hizbullah is speaking in such terms proves that Iran’s domineering authority in Lebanon is increasing and in the aftermath of the Second Lebanon War, Hizbullah has become emboldened.
