Fertilizer is good for planting, and those will reap what they sow.

Igor ,   Amsterdam   (03.31.10)
Soon with what is happening, you will be the only ones allowed to use the burqua. For that you will have to go to Gaza. Call this racism.
4. Who does Belgium to blame for this mess? Belguim leftists.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.31.10)
5. It is not a "religious prohibition"
ben yaakov ,   herzliya il   (03.31.10)
The full face veil or burqa is merely a primitive Middle Eastern tradition. The burqua is not mandated by Islam! So there is no conflict between this law and any religious conviction or principals.
6. And if we proposed the same law
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.31.10)
Belgium would be busy condemning us as racists.
7. Why do they want ban?Have they had lotsa Bank Robberies?
Alan ,   SA   (03.31.10)
8. I hope it ends in civil war
Steve from Raleigh   (03.31.10)
In the end, Europe will be peppered by Muslim Autonomous zones. Which the Muslims' useful idiots will label as Ghettos 'worse than anything ever done to the Jews.' Then they will rise up kill the infidels and blame Israel for it.
9. faik, the law is about a "ban of masking in public"
eporue ,   europe   (03.31.10)
this is perfect. so, its only about the veil / covering the face. head-scarfs etc is all ok. its mainly for security reasons. masked persons (e.g. veil-wearer) will be banned from public transport etc, fines are from 20 euro to 7 day in prison. burka-fans should consider, that at the time it was invented, there were no dangers from suicide bombers, and veil-wearers were not supposed to work in offices or use public transport etc... time has changed. nobody will attack your clan in the tent at night, because your wife is so beautiful. we dont do such things in europe. in addition, you can call 112 in case of emergency.

Mark ,   new rochelle   (03.31.10)
If you want to oppress women and shun liberal Belgian culture why come to Belgium, why not stay in your backward coutries where forcing women to cover their entire bodies in 100 degree heat is socially acceptable
11. Burkas make expensive security cameras redundant.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (04.01.10)
What is to prevent a terrorist from hiding in a burka? And even if he or she is caught on camera, identification will be impossible.
12. Where are the nasty Belgian Leftists who post here?
William ,   Israel   (04.01.10)
The one's who claim checkpoints that catch bomb-smuggling Arabs are racist and quelling violent riots is undemocratic. Where are they now that their country has made the same step acknowledging both the forced separatism and self-oppression of Islam? Amazing, they are silent.
13. #8 - I did read from some racist Arabs postings...
William ,   Israel   (04.01.10)
that they, and their Leftist cronies, consider every damn problem on the planet to be connected to the Israeli-Arab problem. Leftists don't need to learn history...they make it up as they go along.
14. #9 - Not true, burkas are relatively new
William ,   Israel   (04.01.10)
burkas are relatively new in the grand scheme of Islam and have no real basis in Sharia Law, even generating Egyptian scholars to ban their use. There were suicide bombings for a couple centuries now, and gun powder has been around for over 3000 years! It is only considered a concern now because the "palestinians" made it a popular choice among terrorists and exported it to the world.
15. Burqa? What burqa?
Pakhtuna ,   Pakhtunkhwa   (04.01.10)
Ever since Afghanistan, we have been subjected to an onslaught of public rhetoric about burqas. For the record: there are many types of body coverings: the chador of Iran, the burqa of Afghanistan, the niqab of the Gulf region. Walking around the immigrant communities of North America and Europe, I have never seen a burqa. I have, however, seen chadors and niqabs. Nine years past 9/11, isn't it time we finally began to perceive the cultures of the Islamic world in a more differentiated fashion?
16. Are some in the west begin to see the light, or rather
Peter ,   Berlin, Germany   (04.01.10)
the darkness behind the veil? I certainly hope so, for the sake of preserving liberal democracy as we have known it.
