4. Kosher style Judaism
Jonathan ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.09.10)
Maybe it gives people a soft and fuzzy feeling that they're connecting with Judaism, but it's no more kosher than a cheeseburger made with kosher meat.

He might mean well but transgressing Torah is not justified
7. This is a typical activity for Chabad student rabbis
Leah ,   USA   (04.09.10)
A Chabad intern rabbi may spend a year traveling to remote Jewish communities in Alaska, and then the next year to communities in the Ukraine. Of course the Chabad interns have already visited the deep South.
8. The deep South used to be the crown jewel of Reform Judaism
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.09.10)
Glorious temples were built in every city and town, and now they have one traveling reverend to visit a dozen temple members here, a dozen there. Now they face competition from Chabad, except for the interfaith marriage ceremonies.

cristian ,   arg   (04.10.10)
thou hast loved righteousness and hated iniquity therefore elokim even thy elokim hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows, let this mind be in you, which was also in messiah, who being in the form of elokim, thought it not robbery to be equal with elokim but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men wherefore elokim also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name
11. That Rabbi is doing a better job for Judaism
jORGE ,   Tegucigalpa   (04.11.10)
That the one beign performed by those holier than thou, Orthodox so called Rabbies, that only care for what you eat, and how often you pray, and not for what you do for, and what you feel for Judaism, it is easy to be a Jew, in New York City, but then, to be a Jew in Natchez, or Tegucigalpa, it is just another story, help that young Rabbi do his job, instead of putting him down, he is a great Jew, helping Judaism survive
12. Good thing is that they dont close for the Jewish Holidays
Alan ,   SA   (04.11.10)
13. Now one knows why we need an Israel

14. #1 is correct
Freida Wolper ,   London   (04.11.10)
The man in this article is a reform minister. He does not teach or promote Judaism. His ways are against the Torah. He may be a likable person with good moral values. But his religion is not Jewish. The reform religion leads people away from Torah observance.
15. anyone whp performs interfaith marriages is not a rabbi
Gedalyah ,   Israel   (04.11.10)
and for those who say "but he means well" or he has "good intentions" - how does the saying go? "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"
16. just to be clear...
Gedalyah ,   Israel   (04.11.10)
I dont think Marshal Klaven is a bad person, he is just not a rabbi the way its been defined fro 3000 years. If you want something different, then fine, but call it something else, not a rabbi.
17. What causes intermarriage among Jews?
Aviva ,   Jerusalem   (04.11.10)
The answer is not "because they can't find any other Jews in Mississippi." That's a really weak excuse. People migrate all the time for better education, better jobs. If marrying another Jew was as important to them as attending a good college or finding a good job, they would leave town to find their bashert. The #1 reason for intermarriage is: INDIFFERENCE. People just don't care about marrying another Jew and raising a Jewish family. They could live in New York and they would still intermarry because Judaism just isn't important to them. Meanwhile, Jews who live in the South who really care about practicing Judaism and raising Jewish kids, will find Jewish partners.
18. Jews in the South
K. Tyson ,   Mobile, AL USA   (04.16.10)
There is a book about growing up in the South Jewish. It is called Shalom Ya'll.
