1. Accountability
Joker ,   Scotland the Brave   (04.02.10)
When will the day ever come when one single Israeli will be held accountable for the death of an innocent? The Israeli society will only redeem itself if it starts a strict and fair justice system that will not only be focused on proving guilty soldiers innocent. Otherwise how will soldiers act more responsibly. For the sake of truth and the common values we share, have a sense of justice. Someone died and some else should be held accountable.
2. My love for Israel
Hana ,   Jerusalem   (04.02.10)
This is why all the world so loves Israel - lies, arrogance and racism.
3. Israel has been shooting activits for decades
lydia ,   Brisbane   (04.02.10)
Shooting foreign activists is costing Israel a monumental amount in PR currency. Someone should tap them on the shoulders, that killing Palestinians in plain view of the cameras is dumb. The verdict of the Israel Courts only proves the Palestinians gets no justice and again exposes Israel apartheid policies.

Jacob Edelman ,   Burke, USA   (04.02.10)
I do not need to read this to believe henceforth every word of the Goldstein report. The Israeli army carries out pro-forma investigations, a sort of white wash that nobody believes. This is we call the arrogance of power.

11. "Hold your fire! Hold your fire!" - LOL
Shajan ,   India.   (04.02.10)
From when the palis started giving orders to the IDF. That Pali was fully aware of where he was, for what he came, and what the consequence would be. Do not call him "innocent." What do they expect ? The IDF soldiers to shout back "Hold your stones! Hold your stones!'. Well done IDF.
12. innocent people!!! LOL
rebecca ,   Modiin   (04.02.10)
People who throw stones in Glass houses..... ARE NOT INNOCENT. The family should be charged with the cost of the gas canisters that we used instead of bullets. They are more expensive. And the weekly riots and stone throwing and Molotov cocktails are a constant danger. Where are all these talkbackers when a guy quietly driving his car is stoned and hit in the face. He's INNOCENT.

14. Celebration of Death
Joker ,   Scotland the Brave   (04.02.10)
How can you people celebrate the death of this guy or any other for that matter? I read quotes "Well done IDF" or "He was not innocent" or "It's his own fault". You people are pathetic and sick. You applaud killing, you have no sense of self-criticism or mercy. The guy did not throw one single stone, for your information. Watch the video.
15. # 9, 11, 12 Can Israel supporters read?

The army claimed Abu Rahmeh was in a group of people throwing rocks at troops. But VIDEO FOOTAGE showed the protesters shouting at soldiers, NOT THROWING ANYTHING.

Following your policy everyone who is saying "Free palestine" deserves to die. Can you say it louder so Obama and all the americans can hear it please. So how many in the world including so many palestinians you do estimate you want to kill. The guy didn't hurt any israeli as shown in video!!!LOL
17. #14,15 - Judging by 52 seconds ?
Shajan ,   India.   (04.02.10)
No one here is celebrating death This video is taken from the pali side, and you cannot get a true picture from 52 seconds? What happened before this video was taken. Will the palis film themselves throwing stones ?. While the palis have no commander or a head leading a protest, each group of IDF soldiers do have a commander, and only when the commander senses a threat issues appropriate orders to fire rubber bullets or teargas, and definitely not on the whim of the soldiers themselves. You should watch Daniel Pearl's execution video and then decide who are the ones celebrating death.
18. hi, i was there.
eyal ,   idf medic   (04.02.10)
i was maybe 30m behind the soldier that fired the canister. i was speaking with my friend while all this happened, i didnt see him firing it, but we saw them throwing stones, actually a few stones fell right in front of my feet. no stone throwing in the video? oh please, it shows maybe 5 minutes, these protestors have been there for almost 2 hours, shouting "ya nazim" (you nazis) while throwing fist size rocks at us. these protestors come there every day. the soldier who shot the canister did everything right, that the canister hit his chest was a coincidence and regretable. but the conclusion: you go to restricted places and intend to harm soldiers (with rocks or whatever), you must expect to get hurt, even killed. my advice, go back home, get a job, make money, build your economy and start "making" and "building", go work so you can buy your wife and kids something nice. protesting at the fence will change nothing. حظ سعيد

You can make all of this if the IDF leaves you alive and do not come to kick you out of your house.

Tahl ,   Ashdod   (04.02.10)
Let me clarify that I am not here to defend the soldiers' actions, as it does appear that they have some explaining to do. If it is indeed found that the soldiers committed a crime, then I, as an Israeli, expect nothing less than prosecuting them and purging them from the IDF, whom I consider the most moral army in the world, under the circumstances it fights, of course. What I do have an issue, though, is your amazing hypocrisy. Where were your protests about "accountability", "lies", "arrogance", "fair justice system", "no justice", "apartheid", "white wash", etc. when Hamas executed Fatah members when it seized control of Gaza, or when a Palestinian father slew his 15-year old son for suspicion of 'collaboration' with Israel, or when countless terrorists who killed many Israeli civilians, were protected by the Palestinian authority? How about when Hizbullah executed Lebanese civilians for suspicion of collaboration with Israel, or even for refusing to serve as a human shield in the Second Lebanon War? Have ANY of these murderers, been prosecuted by the Palestinian or Lebanese justice systems?.... And where were you to protest? Of course, Israel was not to blame in these cases, so you were snoozing. Your unbelievable hypocrisy proves the true motive of your posts here.
21. Hi Eyal
Elisabeth ,   Amsterdam   (04.02.10)
First of all: Your anonymous testimony here means nothing of course. There should have been a proper investigation, THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT: Then you could have given it. (By the way: If you did not see the guy fire, how can you know that he "did everything right"? You seem to jump to conclusion to defend your own side.) Next: Israel always likes to be compared to a civilized democratic western nation, and not to a brutal Arab regime. For your information: We have riots in which people throw rocks, bricks and molotov cocktails in Europe too. Somehow the police always manage without killing people. Maybe the most moral army in the world could follow some courses in Europe. Your total lack of understanding as to why these people protest, and that they have good reasons to is tiresome. You seem like a machine that just follows orders and doesn't ask questions. You are being used in a way that is not in the better interest of Israels future in the region in the long run.
22. #1 - poor sap, even Jews can't bend physics
William ,   Israel   (04.02.10)
Despite the many soldiers held accountable for everything from civilian deaths to theft of a bank card, you continue to throw fits because you can't get a 100% conviction rate based on your own racist ideology. Could it be - sometimes the "Palestinians" are wrong? No, never in your mind. Whatever your biased rants, the truth is, no one can accurately aim a tear gas canister and that's what the judge ruled. What you're claiming is that you know this soldier's intent, better than the soldier, ballistics experts, his officer, and a panel of judges....all the way from Scotland. Now, that's even more amazing than being able to bend the laws pf physics and aim a tear gas canister accurately, don't you think?
23. #14 - but we don't hand out candies on the street...
William ,   Israel   (04.02.10)
or place posters of people all over town as "Pals" do with terrorists, and admire them. And while they send their kids and women to blow up Israeli civilians, we still try to heal them in our hospitals, in the next room from their Israeli victims....instead of cutting them open and dipping our hands in their blood - and "Pals" have done. So who's the real worshiper of death here? I would say you - for supporting the terror campaign by "Pals"
24. #16 - So you'll accept us throwing rocks...
William ,   Israel   (04.02.10)
at all "Palestinians" and calling for the destruction of Al-Aqsa mosque and the expulsion of Arabs? Somehow I doubt you'd give us the same liberty to cause mayhem.
25. #21 - but do you have weekly violent riots?
William ,   Israel   (04.02.10)
and are these riots an effort to bring down your country, and are these riots used by foreigners and other violent groups to bring down your country and demonize your citizens? Are these riots used as cover by politicians and people with sniper rifles? This isn't just a weekly riot against a fence - something the Leftists and Arabs continue to claim as peaceful but is not from what you see - this is a larger, on-going attempt to deligitmize Israel and place facts on the ground that are contrary to UN resolutions on land and future negotiations. When this was just a protest against land used for the fence - a fence needed because of murderous Arabs and wasn't there before 2002 - it was not a major issue. When the protests because >50% foreigners and Leftists and part of a larger "Pal" agenda against the entire State of Israel, then it got ugly. You can blame PA leaders, Israeli Arab MKs, and ISM for that. We know very well why they protest, who eggs them on, and who are the instigators that block productive talks...and those tentacles can be found going right back to Europe. Know why the wall is there? BECAUSE of actions like this and they know it.

Elisabeth ,   Amsterdam   (04.02.10)
But we do not receive Hamas leaders or terrorists who killed many Israeli civilians or Hizbullah people who executed Lebanese civilians in our capitals with guards of honor, like we do with Israeli politicians. None of these groups get massive financial and military aid from the US, they do not get special tax breaks when they export to Europe etc. etc. Actions say more than words. It is exactly because Israel is not treated like these criminals that better behavior is expected from Israel. You cannot have it both ways: With the preferential treatment comes the scrutiny. Many Westerners also feel responsible for what happens in Israel because we were involved in the origin of the conflict (with the history of the Holocaust, our votes in the UN in 1948, the massive support and sympathy for the Israeli side for many years and so on). Your suggestion that it stems from anti-Semitism is insulting.
27. Arab killed by tear gas canister
Grant Thomas ,   USA   (04.02.10)
If these people would not be out doing mischief as part of a mob they would not get injured or killed. I have zero sympathy for thugs that are rioting. One more dead is one less on the streets!
28. please elisabeth...
eyal ,   idf medic   (04.02.10)
you are just another armchair critic from far away, you dont know anything about the daily events that occur here. your protesters dont carry guns with them, this is why the police fears only violence and property damages. you wanna know how it works here? at a protest a kid (maybe 12y old) pulls out a semi automatic gun on my friend and tells him in arabic "dirty jew, you deserve to die", pulls the trigger and luckily the gun didnt go off, we run towards the kid, he drops the gun and runs away, at the same time we have to deal with incoming rocks, we could only confiscate the gun, which later on we discovered that it was damaged (lucky us!). another incident at a protest maybe half a mile near this place: daily routine, while keeping an eye on protesters, suddently shots from far hitting the ground maybe 2m from where we stand. so you see elisabeth, trust in these people has been lost for long time, in the fields here, everything can happen. when we see that a protest escalates, we follow orders to spread the people with teargas and if necessary rubber bullets. while all this happening we always must keep an eye on everyone for if someone pulls a gun or any other weapon/tool that could be of danger for us. these are only 2 incidents i put together for you, so you can see the difference. elisabeth, i know about the protest in europe. compared to what we have to deal here every day? only a sad joke. id rather fight with huligans 1on1 than being stationed where i am, at the fence, where everything is possible, and i mean "everything". now beats me, i dont know why this article doesnt say anything about the questioning of the whole group that was involved, including me, that took almost 2 hours each in average. you have no idea to what laws we are tied to when we are on missions. i feel sorry for every human loss, but you are just blind because the media always supports the weak, it never talks about qassams, terror attacks or suicide bombings, and when they do, you dont come here to bash the palestinians. your mouth is shut. but as soon as something pops up from the israeli side you are like all anti-semites here running to judge us. yes elisabeth, to me you're just another anti-semite. hag sameach to everyone.
29. #26 - the honors you speak of are not for Israel
William ,   Israel   (04.02.10)
they are honors given to States for their representatives. Saddam butchered tons of people - and you received him with the same honor guard as you receive Israel. Coincidence? You cannot receive Hamas and Hizbullah the same because they are non-State entities, however, you DO supply tons of aid to these groups and political cover for their actions when you place Israel in a category of obligations but absolve Hamas, Hiz of those same obligations. Aid, tax breaks, etc. to Israel all come with obligations, penalties, stipulations, etc. Aid to Hamas went right to them for use as they see fit. You earmarked it for infrastructure, they earmarked it for rockets and explosives. You never uttered a word. I believe hypocrisy is the real word I'm looking for regarding EU actions. And by NOT placing these groups under strict sanctions because of their war crimes and unnecessary use of violence through terror, you block the peace process.
30. #26 - according to research, Westerners are source of proble
William ,   Israel   (04.02.10)
not because of the vote in the UN in 1948 or the Holocaust. Israel was being re-born decades before the Holocaust with the same purpose - the human right of self-determination of Jews in their ancient homeland. The violence today does not stem from the 1948 vote. It stems from Arab arrogance and supremacy that began in 1918 and culminated into massacres of innocent Jews in 1920, 1929, and continued. How is the West the problem here? It's complicated, so bear with me: 1) The Brits and the French divided up the areas according to their own political ambitions, and made promises to many people for the same plot of land 2) Your incessant thirst for oil allows your hearts to be governed by the Arabs, blinding you to the real injustice here. 3) Per#2 - Arabs expelled 800,000 innocent Jews from their lands, taking ALL their wealth, and all the West can say is "poor Pals". 4) Per#2 - Jordan illegally annexed West Bank and E. Jerusalem, after ethnically cleansing the area of Jews. But the West can only say "wait, this is palestinian land, not Jewish" when we build houses in our capital. 5) You fund UNWRA to the hilt, not caring that such welfare payments, free education, free healthcare have all stolen their will to grow and succeed, and multiplied the population. Now "Pals" have the population bulge that other Arab countries are dealing with but don't have the resources to provide jobs for, and the kids are ANGRY!! 6) Your self-righteous Leftist leaders still instigate problems in our backyards by sending and funding NGOs which are biased and work against any normalization. You instigate violence and pat yourselves on the back claiming to be heroes...after you leave. Do us all a favor. Take back your money, your NGOs, your tax breaks, even your embassies. Stop supporting Hamas, Hizbullah (whom you receive in your capitals as diplomats) and let the Pal and Israeli civilians make the peace. Your presence is only hurting that, not helping.
