3. LOndonistan needs to shut up.
cj ,   p   (04.02.10)
4. 35 rockets in March, not a word from Brits, UN, EU....
Cynic ,   USA   (04.02.10)
5. Well, Brits, it is time you address the aggressor: Hamas
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.02.10)
But the British, true to form and content, will go for the Jew and accuse Israel's "occupation" of Gaza and the "blockade" of the Gaza Strip without noting that Gaza, an Arab territory, is bordering Egypt, also an Arab territory, and could conduct its affairs through Egypt. And without acknowledging that Israel evacuated every single inch of land as far back as 2005 and no Jews, civilian or soldier is stationed in the Strip.
6. P.S to my previous note: Jews, according to British
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.02.10)
thinking, have no right to defend themselves, only to be killed or murdered...!! Or, put differently, the very first right of all human rights, the right to life and to the defence of one's life, according to British thinking, does not apply to Jews.
7. I noticed that they DIDN'T comment when people in Israel
Zvi   (04.02.10)
were killed / wounded by Qassams. Hypocrites.
8. Once again, UK shows its true face
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.02.10)
Hardly a word comes out of the UK's Foreign Ministry when arms caches are discovered, when rockets or mortars are fired, or when militants attempt to penetrate the Gaza border. Yet let Israel dare to respond and the "concern" for Gaza and the calls for restraint come out. The UK has no moral standing here. They should remain silent.
9. Israel Correct
Rick ,   Boston, MA   (04.02.10)
Israel is Correct to wage war on Gaza. The Palestinians constantly shoot rockets into Israel,, they don't want peace, just war so Israel has the right to protect themselves. Any country would do the same thing IF a neighboring country fired rockets into their country. So Britain get off Israel's back !
10. Concern
Mimi ,   Haifa Israel   (04.02.10)
360 rockets fired since january 2009 And as usual Britain is concerned only when Israel try to stop it. No rockets =No retaliation =No concern!!!!!! Simple
11. brits concerned about IDF response, not terrorists' rockets
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (04.02.10)
good enough reason countries like them should be ignored over matters like this.
12. Ahahaha... As usual, they're pathetic!
Bru ha ha ,   london, uk   (04.02.10)
The British Foreign Office is concerned? Who cares! Three weeks ago they dispatched an attack nuclear submarine to the Malvinas Islands, off the coast of Argentina: the whole world was concerned (and still is...)!
13. Hysterical comments
Robert ,   Brisbane, Australia   (04.02.10)
"We encourage Israelis and Palestinians to focus efforts on negotiation and to engage urgently in US-backed proximity talks." The hysterical comments here only go to show that most of you can't read or you refuse to face the truth. If you people bothered to digest the article you may recognise that the British foreign office was encouraging both patries to show restraint. When Israel recognises that Palestinians have a right to their own state in their own land, maybe the violence would cease.
14. #6 You are 100% correct
Mark ,   Boston   (04.02.10)
An Israeli Representative spoke to the BBC and said we are not going to do nothing ("restraint") and get injured and killed every single day. She had to repeat that concept over and over. I heard it this morning.
15. Very concerned by Queen Elisabeth
Michel ,   Jerusalem   (04.02.10)
As she'll have to dress very soon a burqua or a hijab
16. not really the same thing
bob ,   usa   (04.02.10)
The Palestinians are forced to live in ghettos and cannot leave their own country because you have blocked all exits. Of course they will attack you. You have painted them into a corner. Their rockets are completely ineffective and everyone knows it, but somehow that justifies bombing their few remaining structures into dust? Try not stealing their land and killing them and things might look up.
17. Yet no concern was expressed
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.02.10)
... over Qassams being fired into Israel, and the recent deaths of Israeli soldiers in Gaza. And the Brits don't understand why Israel does not take them seriously, and could care less about anything they "express."
18. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (04.02.10)
Concerning your concern, there is absolutely no need to be concerned because this is none of your concern.Rather worry about your football louts, your regular teenage stabbings, your immigration tidal wave ,awful weather and greasy food.
19. Britain's 'concern' about escalation of violence in Gaza
Lauren ,   E. Lansing, USA   (04.02.10)
The other comments have said it all: The British government, true to its disgusting record where Jews and Israel are concerned, had and still have nothing to say about attacks on Israel from Gaza AFTER Israel left Gaza, but let Israel defend itself, and, oh my, how the British government 'anguishes' about escalation!
20. It's PERFECTLY LEGAL for Israel to respond militarily....
The Archives ,   Kuala Lumpur   (04.02.10)
to preserve and protect the equality of peace within it's territory when the sovereignty and security of Israel is assaulted by another so-called half breed country which is seeking for a two state solution when the half ripe fruit is still decaying on the tree branch. The Britishers must understand international law that warrants a country to respond, whether militarily or in whatever ways when security of a UN recognized country has been breached or encroached, would automatically allow the assaulted country to launch whatever operations against the aggressor (Gazanistan).
21. The IDF is the Israel Defence Forces. It it were not for the
Frank ,   Gedera, Israel   (04.02.10)
IDF Jews would be slaughtered by the thousands. Does Britain takes this into consideration or perhaps the mass murder of Jews is of no concern to those who hold cavalier attitude about the well being of Jews?
22. When are they going to urge 'restraint' to the Russians?
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (04.02.10)
My bet is half past never.
23. proximity talks
DOV ,   USA   (04.02.10)
What a joke the british are. Elections must be around the corner in England.
24. British hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me
Jake ,   USA   (04.02.10)
25. UK syas nothing until Israel retaliates
bernard ross ,   st anns bay jamaica   (04.02.10)
UK needs more terror attacks like Russia to understand Israels predicament. Perhaps that is what the world is beginning to experience: the terror that Israel experienced for 60 years.
26. Bravo Israel..Ignore leftist Brit Politicos
Craig ,   L.A., USA   (04.02.10)
Just wish Israel would make such moves on a daily basis. Islamic terrorists understand this type of 'negotiation' best. Can't wish you Israelis enough success at pounding the hell out of such filth as these Islamic terrorist organizations. Maybe they won't cheer quite so loud next time Jews die..knowing that retaliation will be swift and effective.
27. Both Hamas and IDF are ridiculous
enderandpeter ,   Colorado Springs, CO   (04.02.10)
Do you really think the UK supports Hamas? Why must people pretend like criticism of Israel is an endorsement of Hamas, an endorsement of anti-Semitism, etc.? The IDF routinely strikes back disproportionately. "Defending yourself" does not mean "destroy the enemy's infrastructure and resource refining factories". Those are attacks against civilians and things they need to get by, as Gaza's resources are quite stretched, thanks to Israel. Bombing Qassam rocket launchers is understandable, because they are actively harming you. Bombing a weapons factory is also understandable. Bombing water treatment plants (as in Operation Cast Lead), and police stations (as in then and in this case), is more difficult to defend. If you are attacked, you have the right to respond. You do not have the right to destroy the lives of the people who live near your aggressors. It is obvious that the IDF does not simply attack military targets. They do what Hamas does, which is attack civilians and infrastructure in order to promote terror. Please lead by example.
28. moohamud al shahid to be next king of england.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.02.10)
29. # 6 (and # 5): You are right on the mark. The British simply
Robert ,   Malta   (04.02.10)
don't accept the right of Jews to human rights afforded to all others. This is reflected in this case and goes back hundreds of years when Jews were expelled from England and then when Jews sought refuse in their homeland during and after the Holocaust but the British, having no respect for this dust of human beings, sent them back to the killing fields of Europe. Now they tell them you have no right to protect your lives when faced with mass murderers of Hamas and Fatah.
30. and we concern
Maor ,   Israel   (04.02.10)
about UK's caling to talk with a terror organization
