1. Judgemental Activism
Michael ,   Moscow, USA   (04.07.10)
Seems like that activist-judge owes his promotion to arabs. Therefore such an insidious court ruling took place. Please see: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1151215.html After failed attempt to blow up an airplane bound for Detroit on christmas eve of 09 all judge arguments look ridiculous
2. GREAT!

3. to bad they didn't sue them in an American court.

4. That's why I'll be taking El Al for all
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (04.07.10)
international flights. My security will be as close to 100% as you can get. I don't want any political correctness to get in the way of security during these turbulent times.
5. My story is even worse, but it's the price we pay.
David ,   Hartford USA   (04.07.10)
I'm an American Jew. Several years ago, I was flying home from Israel, and a little sticker that had been placed on my suitcase fell off while I was in the boarding line. The attendent motioned for a security guard to come over. I thought nothing of it until he drew his pistol, aimed it at my head, grabbed me by my shirt and physically pulled me out of line, away from the main line. At this point, I was mortified, my sister was in shock, and 50 people around me were slowly backing away from me. Security agents and airline personnel were running towards me at breakneck speed. A hundred feet away, the ticket agent saw what was happening and sprinted towards us. She and the guard had some loud words and then the guard let go of me and holstered his weapon. SHE apologized for the trouble as the security guard melted back into the crowd. Was I humiliated? Of course! Terrified? You bet! Did I bring a lawsuit against EL AL? OF COURSE NOT. It's the price we all pay trying to protect ourselves from Muslim psychopaths who like to attack planes, trains, buses, tunnels, and especially very tall buildings. The two brothers should have been more understanding, even if they felt they were singled out. Looks like they just wanted a pay-day at EL AL's expense. The judge needs a check-up from the neck up. The case should have been thrown out.
6. Such arrogance El-Al, they deserve it.
Bonnie ,   Israel   (04.07.10)
7. give 'em a nickel and one-way ticket to Mali
Rami   (04.07.10)
Mali is lovely this time of year, I am sure they will be much happier there.

9. for this reason I fly only EL AL
Daniela   (04.07.10)
I feel good and safe in El Al's Wings. great job EL AL! keep on the tough checking all the time not only with arabs but with everybody, for the safe of all of us. Please don't change this policy.
10. Shame on EL AL
avi ,   Israel   (04.07.10)
Having travelled once with some arab friends i was ashamed at the way EL AL treated them, it gave me quite a shock to see the discracefull treatment they received from the EL AL ground crew, the only positive thing is that i began to see what is really going on here and the rasist attitude show to my friends.
11. So much humliation? So let them fly BA or Lufthansa or whatev
Alan ,   SA   (04.07.10)
If Arabs know this ,then let them fly another line or cross to Jordan and leave via Amman
12. el al
debbie ,   israel   (04.07.10)
TO ROBERT HAYMOND, You said it!!!!!!
13. El Al and Security
Golani ,   Mi Ami, Israel   (04.07.10)
Every other airline in the world would love to be able to provide the level of security that El Al provides. Although viewed as possbily racially profile actions, it is actually mostly behavioral based. Many Israeli Arabs chose to fly El Al. Although they are inconvienced, they know that they are safer.
14.  if it is Toubi or Not Toubi, that is the question
Alan ,   SA   (04.07.10)
15. Same thing happened to me...no big deal.
B. Avery ,   USA   (04.07.10)
El Al security did the exact same thing to me in Newark. I am a cornbread fed whiteboy from the midwest United States.I own an operate a christian holy land tour company. I fit no terrorist profile except that I was flying by myself. I was asked to leave my luggage and return later. I did and was then escorted past security to the gate where the young lady from El Al waited with me and several others who also did not fit any "arab" profile list. I jokingly told her that I expected her to take me all the way to my seat on the plane. We laughed and went on our way. Was it a bit of a nuisance? Yes. Was it cause to get angry? No. It happens to many people who do not fit any certain ethnic criteria. My advice...Get over it.

this is small number
17. #10 - Isn't past Arab attempts to blow up El Al planes...
William ,   Israel   (04.07.10)
also considered racist, Avi? Or is that just the price of doing business with them? Don't be such a jackass. With security situations the way they are, it's because of this type of action that you can freely fly to and from Israel without incident. Maybe you need to personally witness a few close calls in order to bring your arrogant head back to reality.
18. #13 - US now considering to use same profiling as El Al
William ,   Israel   (04.07.10)
Will the Uber-Leftists and Supreme Court hide being Civil Liberties in order to thwart one of the most effective processes in airline security? Let's see. One belief I have that comforts me in security checks like these - if I'm innocent, what do I have to fear? I can get over a little "humiliation" but not having my plane blown up. Arabs seem to equate the two.
19. YOu can aachieve security w/o humiliating passengers
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (04.07.10)
El Al can still achieve a high level of security without humiliating Israeli-Arab passengers. The unnecessary humiliation of Israeli-Arab is well known and can’t be justified by security reasons. Hope El Al learns from this and provides training to its personnel to be humane towards passengers.
20. ELAL security sounded reasonable so good job guys
zionist forever   (04.07.10)
I am a white male and as an Israeli citizen travel on an Israeli passport. I visited the UK this year and I was stopped, taken to aside and for reasons I do not know they took me aside for a more in depth security check. Although I didn't mind I am not an arab and I have an Israeli passport but still they took me aside. Arabs are rightly considered to be the main threat to ELAL security so more in depth checks which may be considered humiliating are justified when it comes to arabs especially if they are brothers. Whats wrong with asking a female security gaurd to follow them? Whats wrong with demanding he apologize to a security gaurd? Threatening to refuse to let a man with a bad temper fly is not wrong because it means he is an increased threat. The fact the court dismissed the claim he threatened to hit the gaurd doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Asking them to leave the bags and come back later means that security staff can open the bags and check them out properly if they feel the man has something to hide. Whatever the courts say what the ELAL security did sounds perfectly reasonable if there was even the slightest reason for them to have any suspicion about these men and the airline should not compensate them. If they don't like stringent security then next time these men fly I suggest they don't go ELAL with their extra security which may leave these men feeling discriminated against. FORGET COURT POLITICS AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MAKING SURE THERE ARE NO SECURITY THREATS
21. avi ....motek it's very easy to talk
Daniela   (04.07.10)
... until you get on the plane! i 'm sure that security is important for you and your family as much as is important for all of us. My uncle's family name is Cohen, he is an El Al Matmid, I want you to believe me, that El Al used to call me each time he came to Isreael, even in the niddle of the night, to make sure he has a jewish family and he was not ... may be a spy. He was checked like evrybody This is the way it has to be. KEEP ON CHECK EVERYBODY FOR THE SECURITY OF ALL OF US.. CHECK ME TOO WHEN I FLY I DON'T CARE !!@!!!!! I'm sorry for the 2 palestinians but many people have the same treatments. This is because palestinians choose to be our enemies. they choose to fight us forever.
22. I've been through the same treatment.
Abe Froman ,   NY, NY   (04.07.10)
I got the same treatment at JFK after traveling with a Sephardic friend who turned out to use a different, Spanish, legal name on his passport and not his English name. When Security realized I used his nickname and not his real name, BAM. Bags kept two hours, unpacked twice, escorted onto the airplane by two 22 year old guards. This even included being shadowed to the bathroom (scolded for locking the stall), and switching items picked up at Duty Free with identical items in case I was buying a "plant" (scolded for buying in the first place). I wouldn't mind all of this security except for two things; El Al/IAA does not hire people who speak decent English. They also seem to prefer hiring just-out-of-the-army bullies who cover up their lack of experience with a threatening demeanor. The typical American reaction to this unpleasantness is "screw those guys, there's competition that's cheaper and nicer flying out of the same terminals."
23. should have gotten more..
alizarin ,   ramallah   (04.08.10)
I wish they had been award more money in damages. I wish everyone who has gotten seriously humiliated by Israeli border security could sue for damages.
24. El Al at least let Arabs on
Marvin ,   San Francisco   (04.08.10)
As a Jew just try to get on an Arab airliner to get anwhere...What a bunch of hypocrits these Arabs are...And just try to get compensation from any Arab country or company for any infringement and see whaat you get...At least the Arab's have suffrege in and from Israel yet are so dumb they appreciate nothing... Hyporcrits!
25. Good sense
Israel ,   Haifa   (04.08.10)
Thanks for your letter. El Al security checks must NEVER FAIL to be applied. The brothers should not have complained, and the judge should have realized this. The extra security in tailing the two brothers was most probably warranted. It is impossible not to make minor mistakes in airport security. I applaud EL AL for taking the extra measures they do even at the cost of making some mistakes.
26. #2me from Haifa
U.S,A   (04.08.10)
you need to fly with difrent airline Jordanian , I will only fly every month with El Al i know non of you can get on that easy ,,I hope you never use the country airlines and the country services
27. #4 #9 Will you keep on flying with El Al...
david ,   tel aviv   (04.08.10)
... if they will do this to you in every flight ? It is pretty amazing how you guys defend such humilliations, just because it does not happen to you. I am not israeli, and everytime I travel alone with El Al I have to go through unique security checks that are not happening enywhere else in the world. Luckily I am not arab so they did not humilliate me yet, just make me feel a little bit stupid, seeing all the javerim israelim passing, while they ask me about who is the people in the pictures of my digital camera or what is my work about (with all kind of technical details)
28. #27
Daniela   (04.08.10)
humiliations? what are you talking about? do you prefer that your plane has the same end of the 11 Sep? Which humiliation you are talking about? we live with terrorists do you understand? THIS HEAVY CHECKING MUST GO ON FOR OUR SAFETY.
29. #28 Try yourself and then tell me
david ,   tel aviv   (04.08.10)
I just believe the security checks are not normal. Don't be blind on the name of the security. I just hope you do not travel to a country where Israelis are the target of security checks.
30. Welldone!
Magdalena ,   TEl AViv   (04.08.10)
There is a difference between security and hummiliation, and honestly they are so arrogant they deserve it!!! Eveyrone that goes through this experience should do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
