besides the holocaust. I am a son of survivors and inorder to honour the killed what we have to do is to continue Jewish life and ensure that Israel is and will remain a Jewish country. That means getting rid of the impostors, the usurpers and the strangers who wish us harm. Going to Auschwitz like some pagen demented piligimage offends me as it was the place where my fathers family was murdered by the Nazis along with their helpers, the locals. You wouldnt get me, my sons who are currently soldiers in the Israeli Army or my late father to ever step foot in that cursed place. The 'march of the living' has become the 'marathon of the dead'. It is an aberation and an offence to what Judaism is all about. We Jews dont worship the dead, we honour their memory by doing what G-d requests of us, namely to continue in his way and to be a proud strong nation If the Jews of Israel truly want to honour the murdered kedoshim, I suggest they go en mass to a local shul and say the holy kaddish..

Auschwitz was operated by Nazi Germans and Austrians. The local population (most of them of German decent) had no access to the camp and didn’t work there. If you, by “the locals”, mean “the inmates”, then yes, the capos (the notorious supervisors in the labour camps) were often murderous. They were often selected from the criminals of the same nation, as the groups of prisoners were usually of the same nationality.
