1. Very tragic...

Could have been avoided. What government ON THE PLANET or even wealthy families, royal and otherwise, would all fly in the same plane together?!?! It's unheard of that they should have done that. Condolences to the people of Poland.

3. A Tragedy Taken Personally

How tragic that on the eve of Yom HaShoah we receive the heartbreaking news of the tragic loss of Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his entourage. How paradoxical that these deaths occurred on their way to memorialize the victims of Katyn. How ironic that this horror occurred the week that the Russian leadership, for the first time, offered a (lukewarm) apology and acknowledgement to this World War II massacre. As a child of Polish Holocaust survivors, I have held the Polish People in contempt for decades. Even after visiting Poland these views were reinforced. During the past few years, I noticed that Poland was making a sincere and outward effort to reconcile its past. Not only verbally, but actively! Its friendship and vocal support of Israel was one of many examples to support this observation. To Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his entourage; “Baruch Dayan Emet.” To the Polish People, May you find solace among the mourners within the gates of Jerusalem”

Buchalter ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.11.10)
honestly, i dont understand why so much people in israel feel they way they do about the death of the polish president, i mean do we have so short memories ? do polish people still live in properties that belong to jews ? do they still hate us ? for me all these answers are obvious but maybe i m the only one..............

Lech Kaczynski was from Warsaw, the heroic city, where many thousands of the Jews were sheltered by the local population during the war. He very well understood the importance of the Jews in the Polish history, so he initiated, when he was the President of Warsaw, the building of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. He allocated the land for the Museum and the basic founding. Buchalter, you might need to correct your books… Shalom

Dear Buchalter, Before you again change the subject from the death of the Polish President to something else, please read at least the first part of the statement by David Harris from AJC: Poland's Tragedy is Our Tragedy By David A. Harris April 12, 2010 NEW YORK (JTA) – When the plane carrying Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife, and dozens of other officials crashed in the Katyn Forest near Smolensk, Russia on Saturday, this immense disaster was also a personal tragedy. I lost friends in the crash that killed key leaders from the Polish government, economy, and military. These friends represented democratic Poland, the country that emerged after a decade of struggle led by Solidarity and KOR activists. And of all places for Polish leaders to meet their maker, why did it have to be Katyn, Poles ask, the site of the 1940 Soviet massacre of more than 20,000 Polish officers? Let me share brief recollections of three of them. I first met Lech Kaczynski when he was Warsaw's mayor. He was eager for the renewal of Jewish life in Poland. He felt a kinship to Jews, whom he saw as an integral part of Poland's fabric. He said it was impossible to understand Poland without comprehending the Jewish role in its life. That's why he was supportive of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, and why he was instrumental in launching it. (...)

Dear Buchalter, I’ve just realised that you misunderstood my statement about “the books”, which jockingly referred to the name “Buchalter” (“the accountant” in German). In this context “the books” were used in the accounting meaning (such term used often in English), literally “the ledger”, so I should rather say that you might need to correct your “ledger” about the assessment of the Polish President and better understand why the Jews are sorry that he is no more with us. I wasn’t after rewriting the history of the Holocaust at all… I’m sorry I wasn’t clear about it. Shalom

you should not only open the books but literally LEARN what happened in Poland. Learn who killed the Jews and who helped them before opening your mouth and spreading your venom and foul propaganda here, especially right here under this very article about the death of Polish president and top leaders of my country, sicko.

Adam, i talk to you about 3 millions people and you talk to me about the opening of a museum...... + i never said that i hated or that i didn t respect the polish president and his death, i just said that i didn t fell like special pain when i learned that he was killed in the crash ( by the way, i liked his ideas about EU ) Greg, your comment dont worth so much words from me, i dont need to learn anything more about what happened in Poland, it s the story of my family, you seem to talk only about the second world war, and i m talking about this history of your country, polish didn t need the german occupation to know how to kill jews and if you call the story of my family '' propaganda'' or you really dont know the history of your country, or you re just a bad clown

Greg ,   PL   (04.14.10)
I know the history of MY country but do you really know it? What year have you last updated the facts? 1954? Because since Poland is a finally free country, a lot, and a lot of things have been discovered and a lot of words have been said. You live in a life of propaganda. Open your eyes and see who were killing Jews and who were saving them (trying to, loosing their lives at the same time way too often). As for Adams words - he focused on THIS VERY article, but you, one of the living-in-the-past antipolish vultures took this very opportunity to spread the lies about the Polish past. Maybe you do believe in it - well, time to get updated with the recent discoveries. Poland really didn't need the Germans to kill the Jews - if we wanted you dead, you would have been killed and ceased to exist ages ago. YOU are alive because of the Poles, don't EVER forget that.

Buchalter ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.14.10)
You re so weird............ i dont know who you think you re talking to but obviously we are not on the same level And no, i m not alive thanks to the poles, what are you talking about ?? and again, i dont need '' to open my eyes'' to '' see'' who were killing jews are you 12 years old ?
14. Buchalter
Greg ,   PL   (04.15.10)
Am I weird? Maybe I am. For sure YOU are funny and pathetic. And I do not think but I do know I am talking to a pathetic Jew who is lost in his propagada dreams of blaming the Poles for all atrocities that happened to the Jews. You don't need to open your eyes to see who were killing Jews...? Well, then I hope your hate will eat you alive. "And no, i m not alive thanks to the poles " Oh, you soooo are. Out of curiosity - how do you think those properties you mentioned in your first post got into Jewish hands in the first place?
15. Greg
Buchalter ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.15.10)
and i forgot already two or three times you tell me to open my eyes to know who kill jews so enlight me ? i m talking of course of the period before 39 and after 45

Greg ,   PL   (04.15.10)
So tell me, o` righteous one, who killed poor and innocent Jews before and after the war, out of pure hate, I presume? Open your eyes and get familiar with YOUR history, because your hands are as dirty as are the hands of the rest of humanity. Stop playing the card of an eternal victim, in a light of your latest 'achievments' in Palestine it's simply DISGUSTING. No regards to you.

Buchalter...youre measuring all the Poles with the measure of some prewar antisemits? How about me measuring all the Israelis by the 'achievement" of Igal Amir or Mordechai Vanunu or Arik Sharon (who gave back Gaza, if not his stroke he would give up the whole country). Some more examples or it's maspik with you?
