(04.12.10)
2. penguins with no respects...
Nathan ,   Petah tikva Israel   (04.12.10)
No Army, No jobs, and no Respect... parasite : we had enough...
3. May be
Yossef ,   Rehovot, Israel   (04.12.10)
it ids the most moving message the young jews can send to the world in this very day of sadness. Young jews playing football at Gan Saker, in the jewish state of Israel is the better answer from our people to the ones who wanted one day to destroy us. Play and laugh my dear little boy for the ten of thousands of your brothers and sisters murdered in the nazi camps. You are not an offense, you are our future.
4. An illusion
Hadassah ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.12.10)
The group could not have truly been dati ! They must be goyim in disguise! Seriously... shame on them that they could not wait one more day for their cookout. How disrespectful to those who suffered and are still suffering.
5. re Nathan & penguins
Asher ,   Bet Shemesh   (04.12.10)
Nathatn, maybe us penguins have no respect, maybe we do. maybe we are parasites, maybe not... but when we sit in shul on yom kippur and (some) people in this country spend the day in the park or at the beach, or even at home watching movies... that also shows a lack of respect. when us penguins (and I speak as a working, tax-paying and respectful penguin myself) fast on Tisha Be'Av, and mourn the destruction of 2 Holy Temples, and our ouster from this holy land almost 2000 years ago; when we mourn those who died over the past 2000 years, including the "kedoshim" who died in the holocaust, there are many who eat and play and dance the night away. ...that's also disrespectful... not only to us, not only to the memory of those who died, but also to themselves. this is your heratage, it started long before my grandparents and their parents were hearded into cattle trucks (and yes, I am of Germanic decsent and lost family members to the Nazi's). when you and others do not comemorate the national day of mourning that Tisha Be'Av is, you show disrespect too
6. Is this a news article or just chareidi bashing?
Yitzchak ,   Jerusalem   (04.12.10)
Jerusalems gan sacher was the only place where disrespect was shown? Chareidim were the only disrespectful ones? No one who is not chareidi was disrespectful? I am obviously not supporting tyhe actions listed. But is looks like another ynet religious bashing article. Most of the youth in this country has lost respect for anything, and I guess us the adults are to blame for this. In Israel there is no respect for anyone who is different from you. Everyone else is a parasite etc. Natan words like that were used by others not so long ago. Lets start accepting other Jews who are different than us, as different, and perhaps even try and see some good in others.
7. No respect
Gosia ,   Europe   (04.12.10)
U ppl have no respect to yourself, no respect to your own history and the tragedy. How do u want to be respected by others if u dont respect yourself. Playing football and having bbq on such a day?! U should be fasting and praying for this 6 mln souls murdered in the gas chambers of Auschvitz, Tremblinka, Belz...
8. Charideem at play again
Avi ,   Israel   (04.12.10)
What hypoctrits these people are telling us what we can and cant eat demanding respect for their so called religious beliefs when they themselves who live off our tax money , contribute nothing cannot even respect the memory of those jews who died in the hollocaust. Although their behavior is hardly surprising .
9. seculars ride bikes on yom kippur
Israeli   (04.12.10)
this upsets the religious. We live in a country with many different views and have to have acceptance that others will not see this day as others do. if it is not illegal, it is okay by me.
10. BBQ on yom hashoah
Dennis greenstein ,   Usa   (04.12.10)
I agree with the last post kids enjoyingvthemselves and playing soccer is a reminder that our lives go on despite the best efforts of those Hamans and Hitlers who sought to destroy us. More so (reminder), maybe, that they are ultra Orthodox , the ones who had the highest visibility to our oppressors
11. Have you ever experienced Memorial Day in the United States?
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (04.12.10)
Memorial Day in the US is just another day for BBQs and beaches. The unofficial beginning of summer. The apathy that Israel experiences with Holocaust Day is not a uniquely Israeli or Haredi problem is a problem with Western society and culture that removes the gravity and somberness of even the most honorable days. Simply put, in today's world we are taught that its better to party that sadly remember the past. And aparently Haredim are also being influenced by Western society.
12. Barbeques, beach parties and football games on Tisha B'Av
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.12.10)
Nobody makes those?
13. The Y Net anti religious story of the day!!
KACH 613 ,   Judah, Israel   (04.12.10)
How many of you fast on the 10th of Av??? That is the day we remember everything bad that happened to Klal Yisrael. While I try to show respect on Yom Hashoa and I would never move while the siren is sounding, that is out of respect of the people that think this day is holey. This day means nothing to me, all you leftist spit in our face on Tisha Biav and then you treat Yom Hashoa like Yom Kipper?????
14. barbeque?!?!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (04.12.10)
will they also put up a tent and hand out sweets? the shoah is not an israeli or a zionist event, but the commemoration of the murder of 6 million jews. if only ONE of those 6 million was a tzaddik, are they not spitting on his memory? would they also have a picnic on the graves of their family members for their yahrzeit? do they pretend to call this madness, "yiddishkeit"? or are they so full of ignorance and hatred for other jews, that they don't see what they are doing?
15. you do not have respect
dati ,   montreal   (04.12.10)
Tisha bav you eat Yom kipur you watch TV Pesach you eat chametz Shabbat you desaceate Tora you do not know Jewish you are?
16. Public decency needs norms
Israeli grandma   (04.12.10)
On a national day of remembrance for the murdered millions, the Haredi anti-zionists are making an indecent political guesture. They should stay at home if they do not want to take part in the official ceremonies. Just as we were all taken out of Egypt as we have just commemorated at the Seder table, so were we all affected by the Nazi murders.
17. tish ba av
rob ,   ny   (04.12.10)
very insensitive, but at tish ba av most of the country is at the beach, parks etc and ynet dont seem to complain
18. Hareidim "Respecting" Yom HaShoa
Zvika ,   Jerusalem   (04.12.10)
Is that any worse than folks having picnics and barbeques on Shabbat? How do we know when the photo of the basketball game was taken? BTW, don't see any grill or anything in the other photos; looks like they're burning a bag of garbage or something. Are you certain every coffee shop and kiosk in the country shuts down too? But that wouldn't be news would it?
19. Tisha B'Av
Al ,   Wilkes-Barre, PA   (04.12.10)
For the Haredim, Holocaust Remembrance Day is commemorated on Tisha B'Av. I'm sure those who picnic and barbecue on Shabbat are violating a much sterner edict than those who do so on Yom Hashoa. I am the son of a Shoah survivor. I will not tell the Haredim what and what not to do just as I don't want them to tell me what to do.
20. Reply to #15 Dati in Montreal heres one for your list
Avi ,   Israel   (04.12.10)
Heres one more for your list: 1) Foresake Jerusalem and live in Montreal
21. Why Focus on the Negative
Ariella ,   Tel Aviv   (04.12.10)
1) Are we not sick of this same story every year, focusing on the few who did not conform? 2) It is not just the charedim who dare be outdoors on this "sacred" nite. I was walking in Tel Aviv last nite and people were still finishing up at the hair salon, playing ping pong in the park, etc.
22. They dont recognise state laws ?
Avi ,   Israel   (04.12.10)
" Holocaust Day was determined by the Knesset whose laws they don't recognize, so it has no meaning for them. " yet they recognise the social security office that pays for their so called life style ! How strange .
23. There's nothing like fire, smoke & ashes...
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.12.10)
...to remember the Holocaust. Look, if you wan't tea and biscuits on the 10th of Tishrei, whatever, but don't call it "Yom Kippur tea and biscuits." If you want to take a walk, sweet, but don't call it a "Shabbat walk." And if you want to have a barbeque, have a nice time, but don't call it a "Holocaust Day remembrance barbeque."
24. DEMONIZATION
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (04.12.10)
It seems telling that Ynet especially on this day shows the same tendencies as the media did before and during the Shoah. Ynet's constant demonizing of certain groups in this society, serves the same goals of incitement to further a political agenda based on hate and division. As Ynet has the Gutspah to get insulted by a percieved disrespect, their disrespect for anything that goes against their totalitarian Utopian moral false values, knows no bounderies. Being a son of Holocast survivors myself, during the past 62 years this state and its policies, have proven how much disregard there exists towards the people who survived hell. Sadly there are people claiming to be Liberal and Elitist, who have lost an understanding and tolerance, that is a basic human value, that will prevent other Holocast memorial days.
25. Nebach, this is what Chilonim do on a holiday
Benny ,   Gush Etzion   (04.12.10)
What do you expect from those brought up with leftist values? Had they lived during the holocaust they would be out marching for German rights and protesting against the vilification of the Nazis. So do you expect them to mourn for dead Jews? I am waiting for Peace Now , Meretz and Kadima to declare a Yom Hashoah for the Arabs killed by the IDF
26. #23 Shabbat walk
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.12.10)
Actually there is nothing wrong with taking a pleasant stroll on Shabbat and many religious people do it all the time. As for "Holocaust Day Remembrance Barbeque" YNet came up with this name, not the haredim.
27. #26 Nothing wrong...
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.12.10)
...with a pleasant stroll on Shabbat. And there's nothing wrong with taking a pleasant stroll on Tuesday. The point is that Shabbat is not about taking walks and if you've learned any Torah you'd know it's not about not plowing the field either or not checking your e-mail. It is about devoting leisure time to the study of Torah. So a "walk" it may be, but a "Shabbat walk" (like I wrote, fine, enjoy yourself) is as contrived as a "Holocaust Day Barbeque." But if YNet completely fabricated the name while none of the interviewees expressed any sentiment that this was how they were commemorating their day off, then you have a point - that would be just as malicious as attacking a mother for doing "Holocaust Day Remembrance Laundry" today. But If they were claiming that this was part of the recreation they designated to do while reflecting on the Holocaust, i.e. if they in any way linked their activity to the Remembrance Day, then the choice of fire and ashes is quite disturbing.
28. Does Regev sense the irony?
Elli ,   Modiin, Israel   (04.12.10)
Rabbi and attorney Uri Regev, head of the Hidush society which promotes equality and freedom of worship, said in response to the pictures, "It's time we woke up and understood that this isn't late winter rains we're feeling – their spitting in our faces." So much for freedom of worship.
