1. Israel will now never dare to strike Iran.
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (04.13.10)
Or will they ?
2. Iran has the bomb
Philippe Delaporte ,   Marseilles , France   (04.13.10)
Israel did wake up but never realized that Iran has the bomb. Too late Israel!!! what's next? Israel bombs Iran : only alterantive before the opposite happens as Iran has vowed that Israel will be wiped out from the map. Israel has to act as it has nothing to loose anymore.
3. #1 hopefully not
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (04.13.10)
An Israeli strike on Iran will not help Israel. It will set back Iran, but cause Hamas, Lebanon and Syria to attack Israel. It will lead to a worldwide energy crisis that will be used by Israel's enemies to isolate Israel even further. Hopefully Netanyahu will understand that Iranian nukes are more of a problem for the American puppet regimes in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He should sit back and let the Iranians dominate the Arab world.
4. #2 Do you believe every utterance..
Janice Cohen ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.13.10)
from the frightened Persians ?
5. We wait
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.13.10)
6. First Iranian drops will be over Mecca, Ramallah, Gaza
Matty Groves aka BS ,   Fairport   (04.13.10)
All those entities are unprotected and Shia Iran has the best chance getting rid of Sunnis in the first strike because there won't be a second or Iran after that. Get ready Arabs!
7. Hit Iran hard NOW!
Spencer ,   Israel   (04.13.10)
Barak HUSSEIN Obama and the civilised Western world have sat on their backsides for too long! One hopes that what Iran now claims is just another act of bravado on their part, but one thing is sure Iran is going hell for leather to acquire nuclear WEAPONS and the west better stop putting off doing something about it.. Iran must be stopped at all costs, even if it means a preemptive military strike.
8. JANICE IS DAY -DREAMING...............#4
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (04.13.10)
Since when have you classified Persians to be frightened? With so much pressure and threats,Iranians have stood firm,Janice.Don't be under any illusion at all. When time comes, you will definitely change your thinking.
9. ..but on a second thought there is still one month left
Matty Groves aka BS ,   Fairport   (04.13.10)
for Israel to strike Iran. I will immediately pack my laptop and fly to Iran for the next month to serve as human shield. Israel will never dare attacking me.
10. The news is just scaring people again
David ,   Ireland   (04.13.10)
I don't remember all this fearmongering when India and Pakistan were getting nuclear weapons, nor even the most dangerously unstable country in the world, North Korea. Yet when a country like Iran, which hasn't STARTED a war with any other nation in 200 years, possibly looks like going nuclear.. the West is panicking.. I do not like the current Iranian regime, but by God we in the West are truly and utterly controlled by the media.
11. Why wait? Nuke the persians now!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (04.13.10)
And any terror attacks from that, we can nuke major arab population centers. If G-d forbid they try to nuke us, then we should nuke mecca and medina.
12. #5 - Good post, Salma.
Janice Cohen ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.13.10)
13. Details on Israel's strike capabilities
Eitan ,   Chicago   (04.13.10)
You should take everything Iran says about its capabilities with a grain of salt, given that old adage about how the truth is war's first victim. The country lost its only AWACs plane in an airshow crash last year, and is helpless without S-300 SAMs, although Israel's destruction of Syria's nuclear reactor apparently involved the successful jamming of that country's SAM batteries. Israel received shipment of GBU-28 bunker busters via at least 2-4 separate A310 transport flights as early as July 2006 per Global Security's accounts, with each A310 able to carry approx. 15 GBU-28s at average weight. Given the GBU-28's original 17-day development cycle, Israel certainly can produce a local version if needed, and probably can modify its IRBMs for a non-nuclear payload. Israel maintains 411 fighter-bombers aircraft, with expanded internal and external fuel tanks netting its F-15Es a 2,880-mile range - enough fuel to fly from Hatzerim AFB to the Afghan border, and more than enough to reach every target within Iran. Iran may be crackerjack when it comes to raping political prisoners, but its military is a paper tiger, and Iron Dome is coming online to tackle Iran's local proxies. If you're curious, please read http://www.slate.com/id/2215820, which presents the rational argument for why Israel needs to strike Iran, and check out http://www.csis.org/media/csis/pubs/090316_israelistrikeiran.pdf, for how Israel would be able to complete the job. The GBU-28 info. is from URL http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/gbu-28.htm.

16. Stop the Nuclear Holocaust Now Before it's Forever too Late!
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (04.13.10)
Iran has warned repeatedly they will wipe Israel off the map and destroy America. How can our leaders betray us by allowing this to happen?
17. To David #10: Don't worry, Israel's not the "West"
Eitan ,   Chicago   (04.13.10)
Israel will probably work hard to make sure that Iran remains the harmless little sweetheart you reckon it is. As a corollary to Otto von Bismarck's famous quote, the strong are made weak because of their inhibitions, the weak are strong because of their insolence, and the insolent are kept weak by preemptive strikes. By the way, since you're from Ireland, you could learn a great deal about avoiding the next economic meltdown to afflict your homeland along with the other struggling, "poor four" EU member-states, by studying Israel's 1985 reforms against cost-push inflation. It also doesn't hurt to do your own R&D or invent things, instead of just trying to run your country as a tax haven without corporate remittances to fund the government.
18. Hit ISRAEL hard now
Stan ,   Oxford   (04.13.10)
Spencer, it is remarkable that you can take such a stance after the 'civilised West' gave you nuclear capabiltities many years ago. Your capitilising of WEAPONS was amusing for that very reason. Your capitilisation of HUSSEIN was even more amusing. Presumably the pre-emptive strikes you envisage are similar to those undertaken by allied troups when they decided to sweep and clear the land of Palestine, a Country called home for almost 1,000 years by Muslims, in order to transfer in a brand new race of people. To put this in some kind of context, America has only been occupied by Christians for the past 300 years. I think they would have something to say (and quite rightly so) if we tried to sweep and clear their land, despite their relatviely short period of ownership. I do love the smell of Ethnic Cleansing in the morning, smells just like hypocracy. []
19. This is just a prelude...
Mr Green ,   Manchester   (04.13.10)
This is the Ahmadinejads version of Russian Roulette! This is a warning shot to the world pre expected sanctions next month What next? They will announce that any sanctions agreed by any State will be considred an act of war against Iran Why you might ask are they painting themselves into this corner? Do they want war? Simply? Yes! At least once sanctions are applied we will be entering the final phase of this debacle and Ahmadinejads true colours finally uncovered
20. #16 Linda - Don't worry, be happy !
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (04.13.10)
A better world will emerge, although our fair city will probably the first to go, according to O-bum's intelligence services. By the way, don't I know you from the "F" train ?
21. First Iran will demand a perm seat on the SC
steve from raleigh   (04.13.10)
The first thing Iran will demand, and get, is a permanent seat on the UN security council. Then they will try to uninvent Israel using their insipid international law. Obama has already positioned the US to stand by idly and watch.
22. Darn Right
Frankie ,   Waterbury, USA   (04.13.10)
It's time the world gives IRAN a spanking!
23. FRENCH PRESIDENT !!!.
Arn. ,   SWEDEN.   (04.13.10)
"I would not want the world to wake up to a conflict between Israel and Iran, quite simply because the international community has been incapable of acting, ONLY MILITARY MEANS WILL STOP IRAN. WILL FRANCE OR THE INTERNATIONAL COMUNITY ACT MILITARILY ???. " Sarkozy said, calling a possible Israeli strike against Iran "a disaster". SO WHAT DO YOU CALL IRAN IN POSESSION OF NUCES ???. DISASTER COMES BECAUSE OF IDLENESS, AND TO USE MILITARY MEANS AS A LAST RESORT. IF UNDERTAKEN AS A FIRST RESORT, IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A DISASTER, A DISASTER WHICH IS NOW INCREASING BY THE DAY. The French president added, "I consider the fact that Iran should get its hands on a nuclear weapon - a military nuclear weapon, together with the many statements made by Iranian leaders against the democracy that is Israel is dangerous and unacceptable." UNACCEPTABLE -???, HOW - ???., WILL YOU COMIT SUICIDE ???, OR, ACT MILITARILY AGAINS IRAN, TO PREVENT UNACCCEPTABILITY, EVEN IF LATE ???. Arn.
24. #18: UK dhimmis no longer learning history?
Eitan ,   Chicago   (04.13.10)
Let me remind you: Jerusalem was majority Jewish in the 19th century, the Jews of Peki'in have lived in Israel without interruption since the Romans destroyed the Hasmonean Kingdom of Israel, and "Nablus" and Jericho were majority Jewish at the time of the Crusades. The Arab occupation of Israel commenced with the Umayyad Caliphate's 7th-century conquests, and as Franklin Roosevelt remarked in 1939, more Arabs came to the multinational British Mandate of Palestine since its establishment in 1917, with any Arab newcomer physically present between 1947 and 1948 eligible for UN "permanent refugee" status and stipends. In all fairness, it is more appropriate to speak of an Arab occupation of the 3,700-year old Jewish homeland than the inverse, which would be as absurd as speaking of the Congo "occupying" Belgian territory. It is funny that Yasser Arafat denied the existence of the Temple of Solomon on the Temple Mount during the 2000 Camp David talks, since the Qur'an also tends to get both established and Biblical history wrong: in the text, Miriam is confused with Mary, so that Moses is Jesus' uncle; Alexander the Great lived in Abraham's time, and Saul is confused with Gideon. Thank goodness no one takes the UK seriously anymore. Thanks to the PLO's useful idiots like Stan in Oxford, no one will ever need to again.
25. #18-Do your homework, Limey...
Joey Rose ,   Portland   (04.13.10)
Kennedy was breathing hard down Ben-Gurion's neck to come clean with Israel's nuclear program, which he apparently never did. "Civilised West gave nuclear capabilities" my ass, boy.
26. #25 Now we all know about how france gave you guys the ..
Peter ,   Vienna-Austria   (04.13.10)
Knowledge to build atomic weapons and nuclear facilities. Please, next time try something better. Pretty absurd to try make history look different if you ask me,don't you agree??
27. #24 amen!
motti ,   caessarea   (04.13.10)
28. #26 I stand corrected.
Joey Rose ,   Portland   (04.13.10)
Knew the facts, but unintentionally (conveniantly?) forgot.
29. yeah, right
Urinal Gum ,   Eugene, USA   (04.13.10)
"I'm for cereal guys! We almost have nucular capabilities. It would be a really bad idea to attack us because we'll use them. I swear it. We'll do it!" /we'll know Iran is nuclear capable when Israel tells us //use this just in case: http://www.urinalgum.com/?p=312
30. #18: Guess who invented the nuclear bomb?
Eitan ,   Chicago   (04.13.10)
You can credit Bohr, Einstein, Fermi, Oppenheimer, Szilard, and Teller: some of these men developed the theories necessary for atomic power and fissile weapons, while the others conducted the necessary R&D under the Manhattan to allow the US to defeat Japan in WWII. With the exception of the brilliant Italian Enrico Fermi, all of these men were Jewish, or of Jewish ancestry. While you're at it, destroy your cell phone, give away your laptop CPU, stop IM chatting, get stricken with polio, and let your drip-fed crops wither: Israelis or Jews are responsible for all of that. Rosalind Franklin is credited with discovering DNA, with all the advancements in food production and medicine that this entails. What on Earth does the UK do that is of any value to the rest of civilization? If you can't be troubled to read a history book and pursue objective facts, what good is your mind to any of us?
