Questionable argument regarding Iranian desire to 'dominate' the Gulf. The mitigating factor is nuclear deterrence. US warheads are stationing in Turkey and if the Gulf states felt threatened they would either invite the Americans in or develop their own deterrence. This presupposes that the Iranians are developing nuclear weapons which itself is questionable given US military intelligence capability. The linkage is a ruse to maintain the occupation and the Israeli policy of ambiguity regarding its borders. Without Iran, the Israeli government would need some other boogey-man to maintain the status quo.
