5. Surprise police drill paralyzes nation
Daniel ,   Israel   (04.15.10)
Good! Nation is galloping in full speed! Needs some rest!
6. its official Israel is a bannana republic
Avi ,   Israel   (04.15.10)
What would the head of police have to say to someone on the way to the airport who has saved up his hard earnt money to go on holiday or how about a mother on the way to pick up her children? Heaven forbid someone is stuck in an ambulance on their way to hospital, in true israeli style screw everyone . Lets face it this exercise is just anothe publicity stunt so the police can actully be seen to be doing somethign - ha ha and at the publics expense.
7. to Atilla #3
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (04.15.10)
If you hate us so much, why do you read our newspaper all the time? Did you ever think that local people would want to know about it? Why are you so hostile?
8. It's disgraceful
Yoni ,   Afula   (04.15.10)
If it was real, frustrated motorists would be concerned and patient, this is the real reaction you would get in a time of emergency. The negative reaction and abuse they get from the motorists during an exercise is not a REAL SIMULATION it's an angry reaction to careless control freaks who want you to feel that you live in a police state. You cannot play with peoples lives like that in a free country. I'm embarrassed for our country....
9. Avi, I've been reading your posts for a long
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (04.15.10)
time. Do you ever have anything positive to say about anything ever? Would you consider adding something of value from time to time in order to make a public contribution? thank you, in advance.
10. To Susan #7 re Atilla#3
EZ   (04.15.10)
Atilla is a classic anti-semite. Anti-semites are a peculiar breed of haters. Most haters generally avoid that which they hate. For example, people who hate snakes don't spend their nights looking at pictures of snakes. On the other hand, anti-semites spend no small amount of time obsessing with Jews and with Israel. The internet facilitates this. Best thing to do with Atilla is ignore him. Reason doesn't work. Second best thing to do with Atilla is remind him that while Israel has been engaged in a battle for its existence for over 60 yrs it has not committed genocide - unlike his Turkey which clearly committed the first genocide of the 20th century against a small and unarmed Armenian minority.
11. To # 7 Susan
Dave ,   Bs.Aires-Argentina   (04.15.10)
The answer for your questions is that this guy is a racist madman. If you read all his talkbacks in Ynet, you will find that all his post are non-sense, with an extreme Anti-Jew point of view. Also, there were several post from this individual, that appear opposite between them. Don't waste your time reading his talkbacks, they don´t have a little bit of common sense.
12. you may feel what the palestinian feel every day
asi   (04.15.10)
two days like this will be more than enough
13. #9 Avi has very valid and positive points
grey   (04.15.10)
i see nothing negitive about pointing out the problem that was created by this drill. adjustments should have been made to allow the better flow of traffic. for instance as a test they should have started and stopped it in accordance with the level of delays that were created. real safety issues needed to be addressed. if real emergencies existed there should have been helicopeters available to airlift the sick or injured to hospitals. they should have given warnings that people should leave for work or airports 3 or more hours ahead of what they had scheduled. part of the learning process in a drill is being ready to adjust on the fly. certainly no one is against readiness drills, but they need to consider real life health and safty issues as well as everyones need to be somewhere on time. otherwise the drill has enormous real economics cost to all the people who are delayed. As you can see being critical does not mean anything more than a positive. there is no reason to reinforce errors in the drill. i am sure that they will be more thoughtful in the future and adjustments will be made.
14. security exercise
katarina ,   Israel   (04.15.10)
To all you complainers out there, how real or effective would this drill have been if you'd been notified in advance and chose to stay home? Would you be notified if it was a real security event? No. So get over yourselves and be just a bit grateful that our police bother to prepare for a real emergency. If they didn't, that's when you'd see a real banana republic.
15. this is insane...
stude ham   (04.15.10)
in real emergencies the priority must be to evacuate everyone off the roads. massive traffic jams leave everyone as nothing more than sitting ducks in a shooting gallery... to be picked off at leisure by the terrorist groups causing the emergency. the exercise should have focussed on the most rapid evacuation possible. who are the lame brains behind this insanity?
16. Well, now talk about the millions that
Shafee ,   Herzliyah. Israel   (04.15.10)
are stranded because of the ashes!! Are those ashes my brothers' ????
17. HOLY GUYS ! WHY DONT YOU FLY AND END THE TRAFFIC PROBLEM
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (04.15.10)
18. Everything goes in the name of security
KK   (04.15.10)
The security paranoia of Israel has no limits. The benefit of such exercises is in no way justifying the damage they cause.
19. Traffic Jams
(04.15.10)
How typical of the authorities to plan such an exercise for a Thursday, the busiest day in the week on the roads. The authorities, as usual, do not give a sh*t about the citizens, about their welfare or needs. As in every Banana Republic!!
20. Doesn't anyone realize
Hector ,   Los Angeles   (04.16.10)
This exercise is preparing Israel for imminent war!
21. WAR IS PEACE - FREEDOM IS SLAVERY - IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
dickerson3870 ,   Atlanta, Georgia USA   (04.16.10)
One of the most important themes of "1984" is governmental use of psychological manipulation and physical control as a means of maintaining its power. WAR IS PEACE FREEDOM IS SLAVERY IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
22. 6 you are so ignorant
Adi ,   Afula, Israel   (04.16.10)
23. 3 noone cares what you think
(04.16.10)
24. Unfortunately it's a necessary evil
Talula ,   Israel   (04.17.10)
As inconvenient as it was - it has to be done, Terrorists don't make appointments and times for attacks -they don't care how life is disrupted the more disruption and chaos the better - and the more a country is organised to deal with it..... the less deaths and casualties. I also had to be somewhere and got stuck in it - but I understand it has to be done.
