1. The one state solution then, Yoel
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor   (04.21.10)
You must realize, Yoel, that the Palestinians have lost faith in the two state solution and are now in growing numbers preparing to become citizens with equal rights for all in the one state between the Mediterranean and the Jordan river. Israel/Palestine will become the state of all its citizens, Jews, Muslims and Christians. That is the logical outcome. Anything else, like transfer of the non-Jewish population to Jordan, is wishful thinking. The world will not allow Israel to do this.
2. Uh-Oh. I think Michael Hess' head just exploded.
flyingdoc57 ,   Florida, U.S.A.   (04.21.10)
Fortunately, this will not stop the "B.S.News" putz from spewing his condemnation of this brilliant article. After all, his rectum, the part of his body housing his brain, is probably still intact. Time's up, Hess.
3. The Arabs represent a huge headache for Israel courtesy
Victor ,   usa   (04.21.10)
of the leftist Jews with their defeatest attitude.
4. I would go one step further
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.21.10)
and say that the Jewish leadership voice, that has been saying 'we will discuss it' is the cause of this ridiculous 2-state solution concept. If Jews stated without doubt that they are in this land as an absolute miracle, and not because the UN was overwhelmed by guilt or temporary sympathy for all the blood we shed. The things that Jews think the world will laugh at, is the only thing they will respect, and eventually acknowledge, simply because it is the simple truth.
5. Time for us to say no to a PA state
JDK ,   NYC USA   (04.21.10)
I think this is a moment of truth. The world is pushing for what they want, even doing the talk for the palestinians that are quiet, so we must say the truth without holding back anything. The Land of Israel is a Go-d given gift to the Jewish Nation, and no Israeli government has a mandate to give away any part of it to anybody. In any case there is nobody to talk to. The PA in Gaza and the west bank are still teaching hatred to their children, which means there is no future for coexistence from their side, even the so called moderate west bank just inaugurated a park with the name of a terrorist. They are getting ready to unilaterally declare a state, so we must say clearly and unequivocally no to a PA state, not now neither in the future, and if they declare state, other consequences will follow.
6. As an advocate of a two-state solution, I
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (04.21.10)
think this article forces me to consider the possibility of a one-state format. As Dr. Alofs notes, sending (exiling) Westbank Arabs is out of the question unless, of course, the inducement is great enough and the state of Jordan (or other Arab states) are willing. What does the Westbank Arab population want? Some may prefer the status quo given the corruption and lack of democratic structures that seem to prevail in Arab states.
7. 1Gospel "28There is neither Jew nor Greek" Galatians 3:26-27
annodomini77 ,   Grafton U.S.   (04.21.10)
There was a General in the U.S. Military who became Governor of New Mexico from 1878-1881. He wrote the book Ben Hur. It was the best selling novel until 1936. It was made into a movie in 1959. In the Movie Ben Hur. Ben Hur grew up with Messala. Messala grew up and became a Roman Centurian. Ben Hur grew up to be a Prince of Juda. Then they Clashed. They put each other in various prisons and finally had a chariot race. Both Got Hurt. Then when they watched the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and Heard him say Father Forgive them for they know not what they do. They both became Christian and dropped there swards, and stopped fighting. There was a man named Saul of Tarsus who who did much worse than what Messala did to Ben Hur and much worse than what Ben Hur did to Messala to the Christians. But Jesus made him a Christian. And Jesus made him The Apostle Paul who wrote most of the New Testament Gospel. "28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Bible, New Testament, Galatians 3:26-27) "The Dispensationalist teaching of prophecy takes Jesus from the center of all prophecy and replaces our blessed Lord with the state of Israel. In Luke 24:44, Jesus says, "All things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." Dispensationalists, in effect, have recast this section of God's Word to say, "All things written about the state of Israel in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." Furthermore as Luther points out, Israel, even in the old Testament, has always referred to those who believed and followed God, not to a particular race of people or to a certain geographical area. The Psalms regularly reefr to Israel. When the Psalmist is referring to Israel, he is pointing to those whom God has promised to bless. In there false understanding of scripture, the dispensationalists have misled millions to believe that the Psalms are referring to God blessing the state of Israel, when in fact, the Psalms refer to a blessing God wants to give to all who are worshiping him. In other words, the dispensationalist theology twists and redirects God's promises of blessings from children who are his through Baptism to those they believe are his through geography. Among themselves Dispensationalists would agree that the leading schools teaching their interpretation of the Scriptures would be Moody Bible institute in Chicago Illinois, and Dallas theological Seminary in Texas. One of the founders of Fuller Theological Seminary was also a major promoter of Dispensationalism." (Good News Magazine Prophecy Issue 35, Concordia Mission Society, P.O. box 8555 St Louis MO 63126)
8. How could any Israeli, outside a lunatic asylum, support it?
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.21.10)
How could any Israeli, outside a lunatic asylum, support the Two State Final Solution? Just look at a map! Israel's waist would be reduced to just 8 miles. A liesurely three hour hike for our enemies to cut our tiny state in half. Every single Israeli city and town would come under terrorist rockets. Israel would disappear within a decade if we agree to this insanity. Moreover, the "demographic time bomb" has been exposed as a complete hoax. Jews are a growing majority in Israel, including Judea and Samaria. There is no excuse for the evil Two State Final Solution.
9. A Solution
Elizabethlynne ,   Dallas, Texas   (04.21.10)
The British Mandate laid out the plans very well. Jordan was to be the state for the Arabs and Israel was to be the land of the Jewish people. I don't see how relinquishing more land or making more compromises will bring peace. The Palestinians will not allow peace. It is that simple. Unfortunately.
10. Willfully Blind
Alex ,   Jerusalem   (04.22.10)
A one state solution, from the Mediterranean to the Jordan River, will either be a Democratic State or a Jewish State -- It cannot be both. Either you deny the majority the right to vote or you have a Jewish Minority. These are the facts. Yoel Meltzer prefers to ignore them in the hope that God will iron out the glaring kinks in his delusional dream
11. the jews must
yehoshua ,   usa   (04.22.10)
who are the arabs fooling? No one. They did not want a Pal state before 1967! The state of Israel must begin to deport and Build baby Build.
12. It's international law as well
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (04.22.10)
San Remo Treaty 1920 Covenant of the League of Nations - Palestine Mandate 1922 UN Charter 1945 All state the same thing all land west of the Jordan River belong to the Jews. As for the ILLEGAL squatters in Gaza, Judea and Samaria - that too is simple deport them to their own lands.
13. Yoel, thank you for the non-answer.
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (04.22.10)
Although you do seem to lament Israel pulling out of south Lebanon, you still have not declared or said what Israel's borders are. You leave it very vague as to the final borders but it also sounds like you have jumped on the One State Bandwagon, and yet, the million dollar question - what to do with the Arabs - you have no viable answer just like every wingnut in a talkback. Of course you have an answer, you just don't have the guts to put it in print. Yoel, your article leaves Israel with one state, Arabs in limbo, and no declared borders STILL. No mention of the huge war that Israel would then of course be embroiled in under your crazy scenario. And poor poor birdi, still no map.
14. At the end of the day
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (04.22.10)
B"H At the end of the day G-d's simple peace plan is the one that will work: Israel to the Jews, Arabia to the Arabs. But for that to happen Jews will have to learn how to be Jewish first and negotiating our G-d given Land away is not Jewish. It's treason. Some say Judaism is a culture, not a religion. I say it's a mission. We have to be loyal royalists to the King of the universe, blessed be He, in order to merit the blessing. If not, we'll get the curse. And please, don't come and say that we haven't been warned sufficiently enough in the past.
15. :: Not that anyone is interested but...
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (04.22.10)
...I don’t really have a preference for either the One State solution or the Two State solution. In my mind I think that either of these solutions would be acceptable to both the Palestinians (both those under Israeli occupation and those in diaspora/refugee camps) and the Israelis. I would also like to remind the Ynuts here that these are the *only* two options. This ‘third option’ fantasy of ‘Bulid/build/build and down with the Pally’ will never work for the simple reason that nowadays you cannot erase an entire people/culture and supplant it with a wholly Jewish one without circa 12,000,000 law suits. In this modern age of lefty, HR Orgs, UN/International Law such slow ethnic cleansing is frowned upon. It is a choice between these two options and after that Israel and Palestine are defined as twin nations of peace and reconciliation.

David ,   USA   (04.22.10)
Claiming land in the name of religion is idiotic. Period.
18. well said
mohson   (04.22.10)
Your article is very very good. The leftist jews of haaretz and the echelon of politics are the remains of the submissive gene that the jewish race has even among some generals like barak who is submissive politically. There is room for 2 states in balfour and that is the country of jordan illegally taken from palestine mandate and israel. The area should be cut in half and the eastern half can be palestine and the western half israel. Case closed. And don't let hussein obama fool israel with his yes we can rhtetoric. Arabs don't want peace for ever. What they do promise is violence and death even to their brothers.
19. I agree
Keren ,   IL-BR   (04.22.10)
Material reality comes up after it was conceived from "nothing"( from a G-dly “nothing”,in our case;and from “our case”-if I can say so- to something fake,in the case of gentiles trying to impose their(copied) will on us) ,elaborated by mind and applied(implemented) to field. We Jews have been trying to implement our G-dly reality its been some 3200 years(or some3800 if thinking from Abraham)and fakes of ourselves(gentiles, nations of the world, arabs,et al..) have been bullying us since about the same 3200 years, hindering our progress by force, trying to impose on us a fake distorted copy of our own dreams.Crazy no? It's indeed about the time to live our own reality and let bullyes dream their own fake dreams elsewhere. Lets keep dreaming and implemeting our own dreams, now at any cost, and forever! Let’s believe-fully believe –in ourselves and in our Eternal Hashem and stop believing fake realities comming from people absolutely not worth and not capable of a real dream as is the Jewish dream.
20. Time for Jews to be like their Ancestors
Gatluak Deng Chol ,   Southern Sudan   (04.22.10)
From far land we believe the G-d of your ancestors and we respect his will for you. So why fear when he is on your side. This land belong to you forever just don't go agains him who gave it to you because of what the Nations are thinking. What are nations to him?Remember his wonders how He gave it to your father? You are an eternal Nation.

The one state solution is wishfull thinking-for leg and arm amputators, child molesters, those who inforce child marriages, stoning of woman, behading of inocents, hanging the apostates.Weter the world will agree or not is becoming less and less important to us,the transfer of Muslim invaders will happen.
22. it's all going to explode either way, Protect yourselves.
DANNY ,   America   (04.22.10)
Don't listen to the goading of those who want to "see the end of days" by having you all commit suicide. Arabs have been living in Israel from they day it was recreated, mr. hessole. so shut your stupid trap and quit trying to goad Israel. My feeling is, Israel you need to hear the actual voice of God and what He is saying to you today before you make any major decisions. Is that going to happen? not until everything explodes I am afraid...

27. Yoel, and what about Netanyahu and the people of Israel?
Marcella   (04.22.10)
I've just finished reading a few articles on the J'lem Post where they cite US media reports on what Netanyahu is ready to accept. Basically everything Obama demands, except for Jerusalem .... for the time being. For the time being because Netanyahu wants to stay in power. That's his main priority. If events gain momentum (as he is fully aware), he won't be able to stop them, and the Two State Final Solution may just simply take a life of its own. So, while I agree with your position, we have to ask ourselves why the country allows the PM to play games with an unfriendly and cunning US administration AND/OR with the people of Israel. While giving fine speeches at home, Netanyahu is secretly ready to "negotiate" away the store, including Jerusalem during the final steps of the process. The Likud MKs play dumb, and the voters are kept in the dark. Well, sort of, because the signs have been there for a while, and also because all this is out for everyone to read on the media. According to the Jerusalem Post, US officials said that Netanyahu agreed to discuss borders and the status of Jerusalem in detail ("Report: Netanyahu Rejects Freeze"). There doesn't seem to be a single voice of dissent. The few MKs who are against a Palestinian state are in denial of what is taking place. Either they believe Netanyahu is just playing games with the US, or they have privately given up. There was one legal organization, Justice Now For Israel, that initiated the first steps to challenge the USA in court for violating international agreements regarding Israel's borders. After raising our hopes, the whole effort fizzled. What happened? Who knows. And that fits quite well into the whole picture of inaction in face of an upcoming partition - either through "negotiations" or through an imposed final solution. So, Yoel, knowing full well that the present borders are legal (based on Jewish history and on the League of Nations Mandate and related international agreements), will anyone do anything to stop a partition of Israel?

Adam ,   Carmiel, Israel   (04.22.10)
...cause I was sure we just finished celebrating it's 62nd birthday. Yet you say: "the borders of the State of Israel extend from the Mediterranean Sea in the west to the Jordan River in the east.... this is what the Torah tells us" I guess we need to adjust the age of the country to, ah... well, when was the Torah written?
