hal tripp ,   la paz, bolivia   (04.21.10)
ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL THE EUROPEAN UNIONS THAT HAVE PUT THE ISRAELI BOYCOT NUMBER ONE ON THEIR AGENDA ARE DEAD SILENT WHEN THE SYRIAN SCUD SUBJECT CAME TO LIGHT THIS WEEK.THE LEADERS OF THESE UNIONS WITH THE LEADERS OF THE STUDENT BODIES OF BERKELY AND THEIR FRIENDS AT OXFORD HAVE SHOWN ONCE AGAIN THEIR HATRED OF JEWS AND ISRAEL.THE LEADER OF IRELANDS BIGGEST UNION HAS CONTINUED HIS ANTISEMITIC TIRADE THIS WEEK ONCE AGAIN,IT'S TIME THAT TEVA PHARMA,ISRAELI OWNED AND BASED IN ISRAEL SHOULD TELL THEIR 7 THOUSAND WORKERS OUTSIDE DUBLIN THAT ITS TIME TO MOVE THEIR OPERATION TO COUNTRIES LIKE ROMANIA WHO HAVE BEEN FRIENDS OF ISRAEL FOR MANY YEARS.

Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (04.21.10)

7. Scuds
David ,   New York, USA   (04.22.10)
The problem with Israeli Government today is the inability to carry out its security operations quietly as in the days of Golda Meir. The more the Knesset ministers talk the less is the security of Israel. Actions speak louder than words!
8. # 1 Syrian sparrow
Josef Matamoros ,   Finland   (04.22.10)
"we told once twice three times already you want war just start it and we shall finish stop with empty threats already" Too much whining, syrian sparrow. Syria has chosen to support terrorists. You get what you order. As simple as that. syria eagle , homs (04.21.10) "
9. Obama is all talk and weak. END.
Leonard ,   LA usa.   (04.22.10)
10. "the dangers of arming hezbollah"???
tom ,   toronto, canada   (04.22.10)
this is either a failure of intelligence or a failure of intellect. in case the news hasn't percolated through to official washington yet, hezbollah has received an estimated 30,000 new rockets since unscr 1701 went into effect, apart from the scuds. so much for "disarming the militias in southern lebanon", as required under resolution 1701, that (not so) wonderful fig leaf brokered by the united states. and so now that it has worn too thin to hide the jihadists, they are "gravely concerned"?!?!? hezbollah is once again armed to the teeth, and has rebuilt its network of fighters (more than decimated by the idf), so now washington is prepared to slam the barn door most forcefully, and above all, loudly! what a wonderful show of intestinal fortitude - that and 10 cents will get you a cup of coffee almost anywhere in town! to abuse shakespeare one more time, "methinks the maiden doth protest too much"!
11. "astrology"
tom ,   toronto, canada   (04.22.10)
this story comes at a propitious time, when several "stars" seem to be in alignment: iran needs a diversion so it can complete its uranium enrichment plant. it would suit them to finance such a deal, since it could save them having to replace many, expensive centrifuges. syria wants to expand its "influence" in lebanon, somewhat diminished after the hariri affair. not only are the scuds obsolete, and ineffective militarily, but once israel's anti-missile defences are deployed in the north, they will also be useless. transferring them now gets assad better "value" than scrapping them later. hezbollah wants to regain some of its lost prestige in southern lebanon, by taunting israel, and by acquiring "sophisticated" weapons. they're also quite willing, again, to sacrifice as many of their countrymen as necessary "for the cause". this all begs the question: do the "stars" really control our fates, or can the white house command the stars?
12. to #1, "syria eagle" - i completely agree!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (04.22.10)
i completely agree - the threats are unnecessary. as for the rest of your message, i can only refer you to history, and the "glorious victories" of syria, in 1948, in 1967, in 1973, and in 1982. syria has not had much luck in waging war against israel, and there is no compelling reason to believe that your luck has changed. in fact, in 1982 the result was 29-0 in aircraft lost and 17 of 19 missile batteries destroyed. and in 2007, all the new and sophisticated russian anti-aircraft missiles couldn't protect an empty building (aka "nuclear reactor"). to any sane person, this would indicate that syria's air force and anti-aircraft systems haven't improved much, either. israel would like to be left to live in peace, the lebanese are tired of being used to fight proxy wars against israel, and syrians shouldn't be in any hurry to die, either!
13. go get him flyingdoc57

14. Stone Age is the proper message to send
Sherman ,   USA   (04.22.10)
Assad is not a smart man. If he thinks Obama's olive branch to him is a sign of weakness he is mistaken. The transfer of strategic weapons to a US recognized terrorist entity is a red line. The US should send an Aircraft Carrier off the coast of Syria and or Lebanon to show him that we stand by Israel.
15. good luck with that #1, Israel has history
to fulfill ,   concerning you   (04.22.10)
Isa 17:1 An oracle concerning Damascus. Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city and will become a heap of ruins.
16. In order to hurt Iran first strike its vassal, Syria.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (04.22.10)
The Assad regime considers the axis with Iran a long-term, strategic interest and not a tenuous-tactical marriage of convenience. For Assad to pry away from Iran, in return for the Golan Heights and US engagement, would require to de-Assadize himself. The Syrian leopard cannot change its stripes; it does, however, change its tactics. More about Syrian diplomacy at : http://xrl.us/oshmc
17. To Tom, Canada
Hertzel ,   Israel   (04.22.10)
To set the record straight it was not 29-0 but ..........81-0 Incredible isnt it ?
18. Walid Jumblat joined the terrorist group
Stuart ,   USA   (04.22.10)
of Hezbollah & co. He claims to be the Druze leader in Lebanon, but he is NOT.. He seems to be playing with fire now, and the Druze community disapproves of his recent political moves.
19. Scuds
Tank ,   IL   (04.22.10)
Those who will come late will be punished from ........... Israel should not act late, it should act now on that.
20. US threats of war
Ned A. Delaney ,   Lafayette, USA   (04.23.10)
Postscript Francis Boyle's THE CRIMINALITY OF NUCLEAR DETERRENCE - note the Pentagon's recent statement that it had no plan of attack prepared for Iran - Mar 10, 2002 edition Los Angeles Times, defense analyst William Arkin revealed leaked contents of Bush administration's Nuclear Posture Review, transmitted to Congress Jan 8, 2002, ordering the Pentagon to draw up war plans for first-use nuclear weapons against Iran, Iraq, N Korea, Libya, Syria, Russia & China. Hmmm.
