1. Obama versus Rabin’s vision for peace
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.22.10)
Rabin stated quite clearly that 1) “We will not return to the 4 June 1967 lines” 2) “"First and foremost, united Jerusalem ... as the capital of Israel, under Israeli sovereignty” 3) "The security border of the State of Israel will be located in the Jordan Valley” 4) "Not to uproot a single settlement … and not to hinder building for natural growth” These 4 points reject ANY possibility for peace with the Arabs as it denies the Palestinian Arabs their own viable sovereign country. At best it offers the Palestinian Arabs several bantustans and ghettos in the West Bank and Gaza which could be placed under Israeli occupation at a moments notice. As we all know every human on this planet has certain fundamental universal rights (including Jews and Arabs) and clearly if Jews were offered several bantustans and ghettos as a ‘Jewish nation state’ in British Palestine we would have NEVER accepted such a deal. But apparently what is not good enough for us is good enough for others particularly if we have them under military occupation where we can treat them as we like. While Rabin, like all Israeli Prime Ministers, had no intention of allowing the Arab Palestinians enjoy the same fundamental universal human rights that we enjoy and take for granted Obama on the other hand treats Israelis and Arab Palestinians as equals! This is totally contrary to the policies of successive Israeli governments which see Arab Palestinians as unworthy of equal standing among Jews. Obama, as inexperienced as he is, plans to undermine the racist and inhumane Israeli policies that have denied the Arab Palestinians their universal human rights for decades. Rabin knew how to deal with Arabs as he was a member of a Jewish terror group that blew up Arab coffee houses and murder Arab civilians, Rabin knew how to deny the Arab Palestinians the same fundamental universal human rights that we enjoy. Obama on the other hand has turned his back on the Jewish people by treating both Jew and Arab as equals. This is the main reason for the discord among Washington and Israel. Netanyahu must stand firm and not deviate from the tried and tested racist policies that previous Israeli governments have implemented otherwise we will find ourselves in a nightmare situation where two countries, Israel and Palestine, are living together, side by side, in peace.
2. Well no $hit $herlock!
Yonah ,   Tel Aviv   (04.22.10)
"peace can't be imposed" . . . . We've only been telling you that since you came to office!
3. No, peace an't be impose, but the inexperienced Obama will
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.22.10)
attempt to impose his piece of mind while doing so based on neither knowledge, experience or understanding of the Arab Israeli conflict. It is time Obama learned a thing or two from Rabin's vision: 1. Jerusalem must remain united as Israel's capital city which will also include Giv'at Zeev and Ma'aleh Adumim suburbs 2. The Jordan Valley must be viewed in the widest sense of the word and remain under Israel rule 3. Major settlement blocs such as Gush Etzion, Binjamin, Ariel will be incorporated into Israel sovereign territory 4. A Palestinian state will no be a regular state since it will not control its airspace and border passes in addition to the fact that it will have to be demilitarized Rabin pronounced the above in his speech at the Knesset in Oct. 1995. Perhaps Obama should study that speech and begin to appreciate Rabin's realistic yet peace loving approach to the Arab Israeli conflict. Will the Jews of America help him do so? I hope so...!!!!!!
4. If he is convinced, why attempt to restrict Jews,
Shulamit ,   Givatayim, Israel   (04.22.10)
only because they are Jewish, from residing in parts of their own capital city? Obama may attempt to sweet talk his way to the hearts and minds of Jews in America for political expediency, yet he tries to bring upon the Jews of Israel the same racist impositions of segregation America has shelled off some decades ago. Shame on this liberal or even progressive president who acts towards Jews in the most racist way.
5. Israel's special relationships are with the U.S., not with
Ruti ,   Kibbutz Dalia   (04.22.10)
Obama who has shown only contempt for the national home of the Jewish people so far.
6. Peace cannot be imposed
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (04.22.10)
but death can be. That is why Obama is increasing Israel's isolation, destabilizing Israel's government, giving the Arabs more and better weapons, training Arab armies while giving Israel fewer weapons.
7. Talks to our face...Stabs us in the back
Dan ,   Titusville   (04.22.10)
Obama wants another Cracker Jack Nobel Prize. The State of Israel stands in his way. He will smile in our faces and betray us while stabbing us in our backs. OBAMA CANNOT BE TRUSTED!!!!!
8. Palestinian state - no thanks.
Committed to Israel   (04.22.10)
9. No deal from Obama is good for Israel
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (04.22.10)
He does not understand the Agenda of the Hamas and Fatah. They want only one thing "All of Israel" Fast or slowly. The only solution. First Gaza must be return to Israel. Judea and Samaria are Historical land. No deal for Jerusalem. If Obama want to Peace, this is the only solution. Israel is not for Sale.
10. He went back on his word before...
Andrew ,   USA   (04.22.10)
2 years ago he said that Jerusalem must forever remain the undivided capitol of Israel. Pandering to voters and going back on your word makes it impossible to trust anything you say later...
11. Obama I am very impressed
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.22.10)
Let me say Mr President that I am very impressed by your fathomless, inscrutable and enigmatic acumen and wisdom. You finally realized that fake peace is no peace and that real peace cannot imposed from the outside. Maybe American politicans are growing wiser? Will American poiticans get their acts together and stop interfering with my country's internal and domestic affairs? "YES WE CAN!"
12. We need no relationship with b.o.!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (04.22.10)
He will try to destroy Israel while he sweet talks the Jews of the states. They will do nothing, just like they did nothing during the Holocaust.
13. imposing
colin   (04.22.10)
Finally the islamic president of the USA comes to his sences. His attempt to force-demand-impose his atitude and meaning of peace on Israel would be completely and atterly futile. He might cause a civil disturbance between the traiterous leftests and the right elected ruling party, Israel does not give more concessions and will not move to any un secured borders. Israel will not devide the small piece of ground for another terrorist state. Israel will never again bow to anti semetics as Hussien obama. Hitler was the last to demand death to jews and was permitted by the groveling weak leftests to wipe the from this earth.

peace will only come when rabins vision of a palestinian state becomes real
18. Snake in the grass, not to be trusted.
Joey Rose ,   Portland   (04.22.10)
19. Jehudah, why are you so against
Sarit ,   Hadera, Israel   (04.22.10)
..peace with the Arabs? What have they done to you to constantly feel, between the lines, the disgust you have for Arabs and their need for a national home?
20. US cannot impose peace but can extend periods of truce
Sam ,   Canada   (04.22.10)
The core issues are deadlocked so that peace cannot be imposed without cooperation for any great length of time. However, the US can extend periods of quiet by remaining involved. Fundamental change will have to come from the parties themselves. The Arabs are in a rush to get Israeli concessions but are in no rush to make concessions of their own. That means deadlock.
21. special relationship between PEOPLE in both countries NOT
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.22.10)
between our failed "president" and Bibi.
22. #1 & #3 Kol ha'kavod!
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.22.10)
Jehudah, you are so right! we can never make peace with these savages. Obuma will fail in his attempts to help his arab buddies throw Israel into the sea, we just need to bid our time and outlast him.
23. obama cannot impose peace but
(04.22.10)
peace can never be imposed on countries be it israel or iran. peace can only come if both sides respect each other and israel's religious ethos teaches us to respect other people and nations and countries. obama cannot impose peace on us but he can lead us to the peace table if we give him a chance... hameed aboughaze, iranian
24. Where is the error by Obama?
sam ,   colorado USA   (04.22.10)
my point of view Obama is Wiser and smarter than any other president ever for USA because he has made the pursuit of this peace a top priority since his first day in the White House and he realize the national security interests of the United States between Arabs and Israelis Especially for the benefit of Israel In order to ensure their survival without any problems in the future so he deeply committed to fulfilling the peace and he does not plan to impose peace on Israel from the outside Where is the error by Obama?
25. # 1 is obviously not Jehudah Ben-Israel's post!!
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.22.10)
It is a fake, produced by a person ("matty") who can't stand by his own arguments thus steeling other people's names to attract attention to an argument that makes no sense what so ever. If this is how the Muslim-Arab crowd and their advocates abroad operate, think of how they manage their own affairs at home. Sad!
26. # 19, Sarit, I don't know what gives you the idea that I am
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.22.10)
"so against peace with the Arabs". On the contrary, I am as the overwhelming majority of Jews, within and without our nation-state of Israel, are. Indeed, we have always been for an accommodation of peaceful coexistence between Arab and Jew, between Israel and its Arab neighbors. Yet, to this day no Arab leader has been willing to accept Israel's RIGHT to be - and not only the FACT that Israel is here, and no Arab leader has been willing to accept a peace treaty that would be considered the "end of the conflict". Based on a historic background of several attempts to wipe Israel off the face of earth by the entire Muslim-Arab world, don't you think we should be careful and watchful as to how we approach them. Of course, the best way out is strictly implemented UN Security Council Resolution 242 on the basis of which Egypt will take over Gaza and Jordan much of Samaria and Judea and both based on discussion and agreements with Israel. Alternatively, Rabin's approach as I outlined it above, post # 3, is the only realistic option.
27. Number 1, you are not Jehuda Ben Israel, so why pretend to
Shulamit ,   Givatayim, Israel   (04.22.10)
be? Can't you generate enough interest based on the merits of your nonsensical arguments that you need to use a fellow poster's name to attract attention. You act like a little child.
28. # 19
Birdi ,   Israel   (04.22.10)
Sarit in Hadera, Israel, are you for real ?
29. YOU ARE NO PEACEMAKER !!!.
Arn. ,   SWEDEN.   (04.22.10)
JEHOVAH HAS NOT SEND YOU TO MAKE PEACE. IT IS THE OTHER ONE WHOM HAS SEND YOU, TO MAKE PEACE WITH HIM HAND HIS PEOPLE. YOU ARE A SELFDECEIVER !!!. Arn.
