1. OFF COURSE, THE PALESTINE MUST BE BASED ON THE 67' BORDER
Singer FROM singapor ,   singapore   (04.24.10)
AND E.JERUSALEM MUST BE ITS CAPITAL. OBAMA HAS PROMISED ABBAS THAT IT WILL HAPPEN.!!!!!!!!1
2. Peace formula
Avigdor ,   London, UK   (04.24.10)
100% of the West Bank + 100% of The Gaza Strip = Palestine Palestinians unilaterally declare statehood and the settlements become irrelevant as they are illegal under international law.
3. No such thing as "palestinians"!!!!!!!
period   (04.24.10)
Who were their Kings & Queens? literature? Currency? legal structures? linguistic development? can I buy a book that tells me about this ancient people? No, I can't. Why not? The Palestinians have never existed as a single, culturally defined people, that's why. They are an invention by Israel's enemies. Their supposed existence is a 'straw man' argument to excuse the destruction of the Jewish state.
4. Be reasonable!Offer Abbas Israel from River to the sea.
Alan ,   SA   (04.24.10)
5. Mitchell must be a masochist !
Joey Rose ,   Portland   (04.24.10)
6. # 3 How wrong you are
Lynne G ,   England   (04.24.10)
You said "The Palestinians have never existed as a single, culturally defined people" Actually they do, over 10 million of them exist today, the Palestinian people recognized world over among about 100 nations and the overwhelming global consensus is that these people are entitled to their own country. If anything israel has help create and develop the Palestinian people's national identity as the occupation of their land as beome part of their collective narrative. While you may deny the obvious thankfully you are in the 0.0001% minority group of people who think like this. Hey why don’t you team up with the people who believe the world is flat and double your numbers?
7. #1, It's not obama's to promise
Robert ,   New Jersey, USA   (04.24.10)
Does obama own the Middle East? What he may have promised Abbas is irrelevant. I can promise you, #1, a brain to think clearly but does that mean you will obtain one? Arafat was promised 90% of the West Bank and refused. Now it's down to 60%. keep it up, Abbas. Soon you and your so-called 'Palestinians' will be promised a one way ticket to Amman where you belong!
8. Abbas the usurper
Brod ,   USA   (04.24.10)
should be grateful if he can get 1% of Judea and Samaria. What more 60%? It is time Israel stops being manipulated by Abbas' puppets into giving any piece of Judea and Samaria to the wolves and tigers of the region. They should be grateful if Israel gives them 1% of the land. It is time the Free World stops legitimatizing the false claims of the Islamist-Jihadists trying to usurp the Land of Israel.
9. #2 - Nobody to enforce your formula.
Yossi G. ,   Jerusalem   (04.24.10)
10. The Arabs are not motivated by positive national aspirations
Ron B. ,   Lod   (04.24.10)
For the Jews, the main point was to establish a sovereign Jewish state. For the Arabs, the main point was, always, to completely oppose any form of Jewish sovereignty in any part of Palestine. The Arabs are not motivated by positive national aspirations. They have no desire to return to a "homeland" and to realize their imaginary "Palestinian" nationality. They simply want to make sure that the Jews are not in Israel. It is not despair caused by loss of what is theirs that motivates them; it is the hope to destroy what belongs to the Jews. The nurturing of this hope is the factor that gave birth to Arab nationalism. More at : http://xrl.us/be2ig9
11. more sense than I thought
Michael ,   Haifa   (04.24.10)
Abbas does not fall for Netanyahu's glib used car salesman's stratagems..only we buy Netanyahu's sales pitch. like "closing of balconies", beneath which lies the enrichment of the land barons
12.  of course ,he won't!
OZ   (04.24.10)
abbas is not the kind of leader who can dleiver an agreement. plus you also have hamas in charge of gaza... so how many ""states" do you lay claim for? they already have one legit-jordan! #6 how wrong you are! just because you bleive a lie told 1000 times, it is still a bloody lie. there never ever ever been a "palestinan: entity. if there was, how come they (the"palestinans") never ever demanded their "state " from jordan and egypt pre- 1967? it is a myth, a facade , repated by anti0 israel, slef hating jews and others, to fulfill some utopian b.s wet dream. so dream on!
13. "temporary borders"... why would anyone buy a house
Erastus CoupeDeVille ,   Ong's Hat, NJ USA   (04.24.10)
on a piece of land with temporary property lines. Why would anyone attempt to improve/landscape that piece of land knowing that the surrounding neighbors cand drive their tank across it anytime they choose. Why would anyone buy a piece of land where it's only egress is blocked with a 4 meter high berm of rubble... and sitting atop is the neighbor's kid with a loaded semi-automatic rifle, hung over with nightly excesses at the Masada Bar & Grill, demanding to see my "papieren". A simplistic analogy but close to the true situation. Just sayin'.
14. #6, Actually...They Don't
Robert ,   New Jersey, USA   (04.24.10)
A 'people' is not a construct of consensus. Whether 100 nations or believe there are 'Palestinians' or. 0001% of the people believe the world is flat is immaterial to the facts. Fact are inconvenient to consensus builders. Recall the 'facts' about Global Warming. A fellow Brit was humiliated by his manipulation of manufactured facts. Al Gore is bothered by facts when he says global warming is "established science." You, Lynne, are confusing consensus with inconvenient facts, too. There is no Palestinian people. Borders, language and culture define a people. Palestinians have no distinct borders, speak no distinct (emphasis on distinct!) language, and are nothing but Hashemite Arabs. Perhaps you and those persons in your 100 nations confuse Palestine with Philistine. Although there is considerable dispute about the origin of this people, your consensus seeking mind would have to agree, they were invaders who fought against Israelites. In that sense, they share a common heritage with modern day 'Palestinians.'
15. #9
Harold ,   NY, USA   (04.24.10)
the UN enforced a formula in 1948 to create Israel in Palestine. They can do it now for the Palestinians. Wise-up. #2 forgot to included East Jerusalem.
16. Every single square inch of the WB is occupied
Nour ,   Palestine فلسطين   (04.24.10)
as such any "temporary border" ought to be, in theory, the 1967 armistice line. Of course, expected future adjustment would be the annexation of the triangle and some parts of the Galilee to Palestine, while Israel can have the Jewish neighborhood of the old city. That's about it folks. We all knew that not even the sock muppet Abbas would agree to a castrated mickey mouse state on 13.8% of historic Palestine with no Jerusalem, no Jordan valley, and no right of return. So wake up boys and girls, time's up - time for the the Palestine solution, from river to sea. Getting too hot in the kitchen? Oh that's right, BOMB IRAN BOMB IRAN! Suckers.
17. Abbas rejects offer, Abbas has nothing coming in Israel,!!!
Roy C. Hudson ,   USA   (04.24.10)
Abbas is setting on it, with all the Nations coming down on Mr.Net. He will never agree to any part. They have not changed from Arafats plan. PLO is the Arab plan. They think Obama will force Israel to give it up. Not so, In time Israel will trust the EU to protect them if they sign a deal. Dan.9:27 KJV.Then Zechariah.12:1-9 will Kick in, & the Nations will see how the Nation of Israel will survive. The PLO will be lost in the dust. It takes an Abbas, Hamas, etc to bring it to the point that is written, God will save Jacobs Kids this time. Roy C. Hudson USA 4/24/2010.

Andrew ,   Aberdeen, Scotland   (04.24.10)
They have existed as such since the 60s when they started referring to themselves as Palestinians. You're right about Israel's role in their national identity. There would be no Palestinian state if Israel hade lost the War of Independence, just a larger Egypt, a larger Syria and a larger Jordan. Nobody would be referring to themselves as Palestinian in this scenario and nobody would be claiming their land had been occupied.
19. # 16
Birdi ,   Israel   (04.24.10)
"From river to sea" again you've been hitting the bottle. You are the suckers because you want more than you can have. NO WAY Nour, your dream will never come true.
20. #6 Lynne G.
Ehoop ,   UK   (04.24.10)
Lynne. There's a nationalist party in the general election campaigning for Cornish nationhood. Should Cornwall be a nation? The "Palestinians" until recently saw themselves as southern Syrians, because under Ottoman rule they'd been living as part of that province or as Egyptians, where that's where they'd immigrated from. And they immigrated in huge numbers under the Mandate, including in times when life-saving Jewish immigration was barred. There is ample proof from the Arab side that they didn't see themselves as "Palestinians" before Arafat came up with his first prime wheeze. Their intentions towards the Jews were no less genocidal than the declared intentions of, at various times, the Arab High Command and Nasser, and their politico-religious leadership, in the form of the long term Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, translated these intentions into action in wartime Yugoslavia. The "Palestinians" have never been satisfied with less than all of Israel, as repeated peace plans offering over 90% of the West Bank have always been rejected by them. Israel owes them nothing. And if other governments, for whatever reason, don't see that Israel is in the moral right, that's sad for them and for those whom they represent. If Israel relinquishes part of the West Bank, and I think they ought to, it need only be that which corresponds to Israel's strategic interests. As for Jerusalem, where the Jordanians committed ethnic cleansing, it's only under Israeli rule that all religions have freedom of worship.

Brod ,   USA   (04.24.10)
Judea and Samaria belong to Israel since ancient time which Israel liberated from the Islamist-Jihadist occupiers in 1967.
22. ok, abbas rejected. so what did he say he wants ?
eporue ,   europe   (04.24.10)
23. # 14 Robert you like facts....
Lynne G ,   England   (04.24.10)
Hey Robert you seem to like facts well here is another one for you… the UN Security Council, General Assembly and the International court of Justice have all separately agreed and acknowledged that the Palestinians, as a ‘people’, have the right to selfdetermination. Now obviously these respected bodies and their rulings all define the Palestinians as a distinct people based on the same criteria as the Jewish people were judged to be a distinct people and granted (through international acceptance) independence and statehood. You see Robert without international recognition Israel would not exist today just like a state of Palestine would not exist witout collective recognition . Isn’t it nice to know that Israelis and Palestinians have so much in common?
24. No Peace Treaty !
Shajan ,   India   (04.24.10)
The Lord told Moses that the Israelites should not make any peace treaties, yet Joshua went ahead and made peace treaties with the Gibeonites. Would the Israelite leaders at least now follow the Lord's command to be successful. Read Joshua 9:24 " The Gibeonites answered, "The LORD your God told his servant Moses that you were to kill everyone who lives here and take their land for yourselves. We were afraid you would kill us, and so we tricked you into making a peace treaty. But we agreed to be your servants, "
25. buying time
alexi   (04.24.10)
Bibi is trying to buy time by offering concessions on 1000 prisoner release, removeal of some roadblocks, allowing PLo to operate in area C, and so on while shalit remains in gaza jail. What can you say! Bibi is weak as feiglin suggested and it is obvious. He is a good spokesman and that is it. He is unable to look obama in the eye and say e. jerusalem is ours, no more concessions until abbas makes some and obama-do what yoiu want. Olmert was better? Bush said one word and ehud offered to dismantle the whole enterprise. He was as gultess as they come. Livni, how did she get into law school? She is stupid beyond belief. Barak , a military man yes. He was utterly gutless in not smashing the ramallah lynching of 2 israeli soldiers and for that he has my everlasting enmity. Only sharon, seemed to react when he had to. Chosen people my rear end- israelis are good people but not chosen not when you have the hall of shame cowards beilin, ben ami, olmert, ramon, livni, and most of haaretz writers.
26. #20
Lynne G ,   England   (04.24.10)
You said “And they immigrated in huge numbers under the Mandate, including in times when life-saving Jewish immigration was barred.” Of course there will always be immigration and emigration all over the world and the vast majority of Israelis are themselves immigrants to the land so I can’t really see you point? Are you saying that Arab immigration is wrong but Jewish immigration is ok? Regardless of the any immigration during the mandate period before that there was proberally about 10 times the amount of arabs living in Palestine than there was Jews. Ehoop if there has always been a arab majority, regardless what they called themselves, in Palestine before the british manadate then clearly these Arabs have as much right to selfdetermination as jews do. BTW when you mention life-saving Jewish immigration was barred are you talking about S.S. Patria and when it was attacked by Jews?
27. #15-You need boots on the ground.
Yossi G. ,   Jerusalem   (04.24.10)
And the UN ain't ready to lose many, many troops.
28. LynnevG: why is Brittain so anti-Jewish?
M ,   Aus   (04.24.10)
what a mouldy country. Ads showing the kotel in Israeli brochure are against brittsh ad standards? Whoa! There are 650,000 'palestinian' refugees never absorbed be the Arab countries they live in. Don't you get it; this is not about land. The so called Palestinians never offer anything. They have never even acknowledged the Jewish state.
29. Where is "historic Palestine" can you show it to us on a map
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (04.24.10)
Nour, Where was this "historic Palestine" that you speak of? What was its capital? When did it exist and with what borders? Given that the land of Israel has had continuous Jewish residents for more than 3000 years, and that the land was Israel, Roman, or Ottoman through out that time when and where was this "historic Palestine"?
30. Did Bibi Lie to Israeli and Jewish People
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (04.24.10)
Again more Concessions How many more concessions Bibi. Your words on standing firm on Israeli Interest is beginning to ring Hallow. Quit listening to the Agents of the United States Peres and Barak and listen to the Israeli and Jewish people who elected you stand firm and no more concessions, A weak PM and a Israeli government that is a puppet of the United States is more dangerous than Iran. http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com
