1. Quick aboutface all because the Ministry looked dumb
Israel..you are growing up finally.
Hi Tech is your ticket to ride...dont screw it up.
It is your only ticket to ride.
I cant remember when I last ate a jaffa orange, but I use my Windows XP Pro each and everyday.

for Israel to catch the Apple's wagon. Microsoft is just dying, new technologies are coming and Israel is blind.
Wake up brothers !
P.S. I have a PowerBook Pro (fantastic laptop) an iPhone (fantastic smartphone) and soon a iPad (fantastic media browser).

3. Finally. This affair just made Israel look ridiculous.

There are times that Israel must "stand alone"; this wasn't one of them. The bureaucrat that instituted this ban made Israel - that "high-tech powerhouse" - look ridiculous.
Jossef, I'm glad some Israelis are finally going Apple. When I was at the U of Haifa in Summer 2005 the few I saw using Powerbooks all seemed (like myself) from overseas.
My sympathies to Al and others who use Windows "each and everyday". But you're right about the shift to high-tech. Israel's software exports alone exceed its citrus exports by at least ten to one.

Only ten days ago or so I wrote here that is a matter of high level extortion
Ministery in fact demanded money for Ipad to allow in Israel
Now it is settled.
My commets were justified.

7. Thanks, traintalk, for the corrected figure

The $300 Million figure I recall from the Embassy talk obviously covered more than citrus - maybe fruit, or fruits and vegetables. Thanks for the correction.
But the trend is clear. Israel's export future is in high value, knowledge-based products and services. Still, I'd love to find those Israeli cucumbers in my local Trader Joe's. (What they call "Persian cucumbers" are close.)
