While I am largely indifferent to Obama I have to admit that Obama has been great for Israel. Israel for the fist time now has to stand up on its own two feet and face reality. Obama is not going to attack Iran on Israel’s behalf heck Obama is going out of his way to draw Iran over to his camp. I guess he thinks as Iran is a major player in the region and will have a pro-Western regime change sooner than later so he wants to encourage this. Israel has proven to be an unreliable ally so it is no surprise that the US is courting other nations in the region. Israel has no leverage over the US and Europe in regard to Iran and the ‘Israeli military action card’ is fading fast. Even is Israel was to attack that would not stop Iran if anything it would only give them more of a spur. Israel now has the option of acting unilaterally which would result in a major smackdown from the US and others not to mention the deaths of many Israelis or accepting that there will always be ‘external threats’ and Israel should not always get its knickers in a twist every time peaceful countries develop their nuclear programmes. I would hope Israel chooses the former. In regard to the Palestinian/Israeli conflict Obama has established the following: 1) A clear understanding that the settlements in the WB and E Jerusalem are illegal as per International Law and shall be stopped which Israel has complied with. 2) Israel is only welcome as long as it is willing to play ball otherwise take a rain check. 3) Israel will not get any ‘special treatment’ nor will a blind eye be turned. Again the ball is in Israel’s court and Israel will have to decide on whether it will be part of the problem or the solution and once Zippy is in power this will progress. Israel now has a perfect opportunity to try and cut the apron strings that bind the US and Israel. Of course we all know that Israel can’t do it but it is great to know that Obama gave Israel the chance.

ISRAEL should not sit with the PALS until it's Jewish Character is recognized. This should be the first condition to star up talks. 2 Thre should be a Pal. referendum that they recognizes Abbas as the negotiator to handle these peace talks. Until there is no Official regnognition of Israel specially by Al Fatah, and a Pal.conciliation (PA,FATAH,HAMAS and the rest political factions of the Pals, to reconize the PA as the negotiator, it will be a loss of time. While a palestinian State could be formed from the Peace talks, 50% of their people would still have grievances of the Existence of Israel.
