Tahl ,   Ashdod   (04.28.10)
Come on Ynet, what is this obsession with the American president? Even though I can't stand Obama myself, enough is enough... I'm getting tired of your writers analyzing him to death. Come up with something refreshing now.

9. Tahl, what is with Obama's obsession with Israel?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.28.10)
Tahl writes, "Come on Ynet, what is this obsession with the American president? Even though I can't stand Obama myself, enough is enough... I'm getting tired of your writers analyzing him to death." These obsessions work both ways. Why is it that Obama's entire middle east policy comes down to two words: Palestinian state? Obama obsesses with anything Israel does or says that challenges that obsession, ignoring everything else.
10.  "...newspaper articles by well-known..." YNET YNET :)
Atilla Karagözoğlu   (04.28.10)
"It is also doubtful whether Obama pays any attention to the criticism leveled at him via newspaper articles by well-known and influential figures such as Elie Wiesel and Ron Lauder. Under such circumstances, the Netanyahu government will need much initiative, sophistication, imagination, and boldness in order to overcome the crisis with Obama..." *** AHHH YNET I DONT EVEN TAKE YOU SERIOUS ! HOW DO YOU THINK THAT OBAMA WILL :)
11. Some real truth in what Gilboa says
Cameron ,   USA   (04.28.10)
The Arabs do indeed see him as their best leverage to use against the Israelis. To avoid painful compromises & hard bargains by dealing directly with the Israelis at the bargaining table, they hope to see Obama squeezing the Israelis while avoiding being aqueezed themselves.

17. Yes He Can and Yes He Will!
Yes He Can! ,   Washington DC   (04.29.10)
As an American Jew who 100 percent supports Obama's policy toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it's fascinating to read the hysteria on this site. The US has consistently opposed Israeli settlement in the territories - this is nothing new. It's refreshing that, for the first time since Bush Sr., the US is actually trying to put a stop to this self-destructive policy. The focus on settlements is not a mistake. They've expanded exponentially since Oslo and they've made a rational solution to the conflict -- or even a situation of status quo - impossible. As for Jerusalem, I don't recall the psalms saying אם אשכחך שייח ג'ראח. Obama's made Jerusalem an issue because of Israel's stupid policy of moving Jews into previously Arab neighborhoods via claims that Jews once owned those properties. A real can of worms, רבותי. If you can reopen such old claims, then I guess Palestinians can start suing for the return of their homes in Beka and Rechavia -- they've certainly got the keys and the documents establishing that they owned these properties. Obama is simply trying to wean Israelis off of their delusions -- which are running rampant in these talk-backs. As for the midterms, the Democrats aren't going to lose as badly as some of you think. Obama's an immensely talented, intelligent, long-range thinker and he's going to succeed in spite of you (and to spite you).
18. wishfullthinking
Birdi ,   Israel   (04.29.10)

19. # 16, dishonest BIRDI :)

Cameron ! dont believe that BIRD ! I love Ynet.
20. What Obama should do next
Yes He Can! ,   Washington DC   (04.29.10)
One step that President Obama should consider is removing goods produced in the settlements from the scope of the US-Israeli Free Trade Agreement. There's no reason for the US to be subsidizing the settlements economically by giving their goods duty-free access to the US market. Another step, although more complicated, would be to remove the tax-exempt status of groups in the US that funnel money to the settlements. I doubt that the latter would happen but the former could and should be easily implemented. If Israel wants to encumber itself with settlements, bevakasha, but there should be an economic cost to doing so.
21. Obama and his evil agenda
Brod ,   USA   (04.29.10)
Worldtribune.com reports that Hussien and his cohorts are trying to engineer toppling Israel's government. Israel must remain united, resolute and strong to confront Hussien and his stooges. It is Hussien that is endangering America's relation with Israel. It is Hussien that is endangering America's and Israel's national security interests. He is doing everything to undermine Israel's government and have a stooge in place that will do his dictates to satisfy the Islamist-Jihadist world in crusading its Jihadism on Israel. He is trying to weaken Israel so as to embolden the surrounding Islamist-Jihadist states to intensify their aggressions against Israel. He does not represent Judeo-Christian America. Israel must say NO to him and be strong about it. Only a strong Israel will deter its enemies.
22. #17- As an American Jew that backs..
Joey Rose ,   Portland   (04.29.10)
Obama's policies 100%, don't kid yourself into thinking that when the s**t hits the fan in America (nuclear terrorism, just for starters), you and your family won't be among the first to be thrown into an internment camp, with the keys permanantly tossed away. "Yes He Can and Yes He Will".

26. #17
Gert ,   Austria   (04.29.10)
Jews are always blamed for everything but not stupidity. After blind shameful support Obama from people in USA who called themselves Jews I am in doubt. Please, return settlement Washington DC to Indians and stop self-destructive policy.
27. # 2 Jehudah Ben-Israel, as an American Jew, I now know
Mark, Temple Emanuel ,   Kensington, MD   (04.29.10)
why I made a major, major mistake for voting for Obama.
28. I am also a Reform Jew, and I too have failed
Pat ,   South Palm Beach, FL   (04.29.10)
to realize who Obama was and who he continues to be when it comes to Israel and therefore to Jews. I certainly hope he fails in his policies toward the Jewish state, and as so many other Jews, I too shall never vote for him or a like minded person, e.g. Hillary Clinton, again.
29. #27 and 28, Baruch she-Patarnu
Yes He Can! ,   Washington DC   (04.29.10)
This American Jew will be happily voting for Obama again. His Middle East policy is what's needed. He's only an anti-Semite in people's fevered imaginations. A majority of Israeli Jews still support the establishment of a Palestinian state -- are they anti-Semites too? Israel's long approach to the settlers is dangerous, counterproductive, and ultimately self-destructive. God forbid, the settlers are bringing about churban ha-Bayit ha-Shlishi (and most of the American Jews posting on here probably don't even understand what I'm talking about because they don't know Hebrew). Obama will still get the votes of the vast majority of American Jews in the next election, both because they overall support his Middle East policy and because on other policy matters, Obama and the Democrats win hands down -- Jews don't vote Republican.
30. # 29, are you aware of the fact that only 4% of Israeli Jews
Benjamin Shank ,   Lanham, MD USA   (04.29.10)
have expressed their approval of your new icon to be worshiped, Obama? Do you think perhaps the vast majority of Israeli Jews something that you don't know about the security of Israel and its well being within the context of Obama's handling matters? And, by the way, don't you think it is a bit arrogant on your part, an American, to tell Israeli Jews how to think and how to conduct their affairs, especially since they are the ones who must live or die with the consequences of their activities. P.S. Have you, a nameless poster from Washington, DC , ever set a foot on Israel's soil? And since your answer, no doubt, is similar to that of the overwhelming majority of American Jews, never, what gives you the right to tell Jews in Israel how to conduct their affairs?
