1. No good
The Last Zionist ,   Eilat   (04.28.10)
We are looking more and more like the British. In the bad ways
2. Cowardly Acts
Patrick Fuchs ,   Idaho, USA   (04.28.10)
Killing an unarmed citizen who peacefully protests is both cowardly and disgusting. It is definitely not okay to use ammunition against protestors - even rock throwing protestors. If the soldier who shot the protestor thought he needed to retaliate then he could have easily picked up a rock and thrown it himself. What a coward.

Guess he learned to read the hard way.
4. Hamas-run Gaza is at war with Israel; This is not a game.
Daniel ,   Los Angeles, USA   (04.28.10)
Hamas uses rockets, bombs, and bullets against Israeli soldiers and civilians. In this war, the IDF cannot afford to give the benefit of the doubt to hostile aliens storming in from enemy territory. If trans-demonstrating combatants wish to get themselves shot by the IDF in order to stoke the passions of their fellow anti-Zionists, then we can expect more of this sort of news coming from the Gaza/Israel border.
5. The media got THEIR shot, that's all the palys want
dave ,   uk   (04.28.10)
and really care about
6. It's a closed military zone you dolts
American ,   Washington DC   (04.28.10)
You know what happens if you try to walk into a military base in the US waving a Palestinian flag? You'll be shot. You try walking into a closed military zone anywhere else in the world, you'll be shot. Don't expect anything to be different in Gaza.
7. If the Pals stopped kassams/suicided bombs/terror....
BK   (04.28.10)
...and focused their attention on education, development, industry, what they DO have and the "now" and not the past, there would be no buffer zone, blockade, deaths, or war for that matter.
8. Even Thai shoot at the own protester, so why Gazan should be

9. invisible demarcation eats 30-40% of Gaza's arable land
observer   (04.28.10)
The Israelis call it the “buffer zone.” Gazan NGOs often call it the “hot zone.” But to the Palestinians who live near this wide swath of land alongside the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, it is fertile land where their children played and they made a decent living by raising wheat and olives. The creation of a 50-meter-wide buffer zone was agreed to as part of the security arrangements included in an interim Palestinian-Israeli agreement signed in 1995. Following the start of the second Intifada in September 2000, the area of the buffer zone was increased to 150 meters wide. In May 2009, the Israeli military scattered thousands of leaflets warning residents to maintain a distance of at least 300 meters from the border or risk being fired upon. In reality, however, the buffer zone can extend up to two kilometers (1.2 miles) at its widest point in North Gaza. Up to 70 percent of households living near the buffer zone have been either temporarily or permanently displaced at least once since 2000, primarily as a result of house demolitions and fear for the families’ personal safety. Cowards as usual, they annexed 30-40% of Gazan fertile land as they annexed Sinai, times the size of Israel, the second day after they had plotted with the Britons and French and occupied it in 1956.
10. Another Arab trick to vilify Jews and Israel
Frank ,   Hawaii   (04.28.10)
They shell Israel with rockets and than demand understanding. If one rocket had been fired on San Diego let alone 1000s there would not be Mexico as we know it. However, Israel is not the USA. It gives Gaza electricity, water and many other services...the very people who love to kill Jews.
11. The Hamastani uglilness knows no limit
observer ,   USA   (04.28.10)
Somalia is based on pirates and terrorists. Gaza is all about violence and terrorists. 2 peas in a pod. The Arabs of Hamastan/Gaza will continue to dwell in hatred of Israel and misery. That is their past, present and future. They will never accomplish anything except continue selling their lies to the outside world. They are only good at protests, smuggling, bombings, staging funerals, hiding in hospitals, using the UN trucks for their subversive activities or the rest of it. Yet, why should they be any different from the rest of the 22 Arab dictatorships based on hatred and terror. They are a part of that world.
12. #9 So you agree it was bad strategy to fire 10000 Rockets fr
Alan ,   SA   (04.28.10)
so close to Israel side. Also bad to kidnap Shalit Also bad to keep planting explosives so near to fence. Do you expect Israel to allow nonsense from adjacent to border fence . You arnt observing right.
13. Is there any difference?
Albrecht ,   P.O.   (04.28.10)
Is there any difference to KILL a human being and JUSTIFY it because of the entering into any "zone" or because of his "race"? Both "reasons" are identical barbaric.
14. WHY DIDNT IDF SHOOT HIM ON HIS LEGS INSRTEAD TO KILL ?

15. To: No. 2
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.28.10)
Go back and read the article. These were not peaceful protests. By the way, what happens to an American who strays a little too close to the security fence in Area 51? That's right. No warning shot, either. Stop being so hypocritical. "No Go" means exactly what it says.
16. Acts
PW ,   Virginia USA   (04.29.10)
to those dolts who whine about this shooting...I ask you, how is a guard supposed to know that no grenades or other weapons are hidden ...oh I know trust the Arabs...ha...Mr. Fuchs would you trust your life...
17. :: Another cowardly act by the IDF
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (04.29.10)
The IDF have been shooting unarmed and peaceful protesters in Gaza on a near daily basis. Apparently using live rounds on soft flesh is the IDF’s idea of crowd control as long as it is not Israeli protesting. Just for the Ynuts here let me explain something. If a modern democratic country of good standing (say Germany or France) had an its border guards shooting unarmed and peaceful Belgian protesters *in* Belgium each day for over the course of several weeks resulting in the wounding and deaths of Belgians there would be major uproar, media blitz, inquires/commissions/sacking/jail/etc/etc. Only in places like Iran/Zimbabwe/Burma/China/etc are these murderous abuses of military power on unarmed civilians tolerated and accepted. Feel free to use this example as a yardstick on your goal to become a ‘light unto all nation’.

A Little Bit Safer, END
19. Crucial agricultural land?!!
Yonatan ,   Nationless   (04.29.10)
If agricultural land is so important to the fakestinians, why did they destroy ALL the agricultural areas in Gush Katif and the other farming communities when Israel withdrew? They were cheering as they smashed every greenhouse and tore up every field. Then they turned this VITAL land into terrorist training camps. The farms were very productive before they were given, intact, to the fakestinians. The only thing they grow there now is hate and terrorists! There was no "buffer zone" before they started firing rockets at civilians. 8,000 rockets in 3 years! They only care about THAT land because it's close to the barrier and they're too far away to plant bombs, mines, or aim their rockets to kill Jews!
20. Aim for the Fore Head
Yousef Hamdi ,   Gaza City   (04.29.10)
21. Millitary Zone?
Daniel Francnis ,   Berrien Springs MI   (04.29.10)
But I thouguht that Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip and they aren't occupying Gaza? Isn't that what Israel says? So how can there be a closed millitary zone in Gaza?
22. ?
Daniel Francis ,   Berrien Springs MI   (04.29.10)
So... what does this have to do with the fact that an unarmed 19 year old got shot in the stomach and bled to death?
23. Rockets
Daniel Francis ,   Berrien Springs MI   (04.29.10)
You talk about 8,000 rockets. What about the 1,000 gazan civilians who were killed in that same time period. Do they matter? Are t hey worth mentioning? Iguess the Israeli perspective is a scared Israeli is worth 20 dead palestinain civillians.
24. And Israel wonders why the world despises us
Moshe Cryan ,   Israel   (04.29.10)
There is no excuse for shooting live rounds at rock throwing protesters, and to those who argue otherwise, please do explain why no rock throwing Jewish protesters have ever been shot, much less killed, even when soldiers have been seriously injured by acid etc. We claim to be moral, but our actions in front of the wold serve only to prove otherwise.
25. #16. Never Trust an Arab?
Bar ,   Unknown   (04.29.10)
Never trust an Arab? I think I've heard that before... Only that was in the second world war, and then the Jewish people were the target. So much hatred in this world. It seems that lots of Israelis want to kill Palestinians as well, and Vice Versa. With all this hate, history will repeat itself.
26. to #25 bar reality dictate other wise
ghostq   (04.29.10)
and yes never trust an arab, they don't like to follow the treaty they sign, you don't belive me, so what Israel got in return from Egypt, nothing, Jordan again nothing, they only take.

28. What it Means to Be a Jew
hikitty ,   portland usa   (04.29.10)
You may well be a Zionist , but sadly you are not a Jew.To be a Jew requires an attempt to live one's life with a foundation based upon ethical & moral values ,not engaging in "1984ish" spin . Shame on you.
