1. Unless Obama denies such a letter exists no point in talks
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (04.29.10)
If such a letter exists there is no point in Israel attending or participating in the talks because Abbas has no authority to hold them and thus Israel will be blackmailed into new concessions that will be starting point for real talks after Palestinian elections. Also Obama needs to deny this letter exists or he will loose his Democratic majority come November. The American people will not let him pull this kind of stunt again.
2. US- A lot of bluster, precious little action.
Joey Rose ,   Portland   (04.29.10)
3. It won't take long for Abbas..
Paul ,   USA   (04.29.10)
to screw this up. The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
4. Israel should refuse to join talks
Mike, UK ,   Oxford UK   (04.29.10)
In Obama's world the palestinians can do no wrong and Israel can do no right. Why walk voluntarily into this Obama trap?
5. Sorry Israel
Dan ,   Washington, D.C.   (04.29.10)
People of Israel, please accept my appologies for the way my President has treated you. Please know that despite the despicable way you have been treated by our government the people of America love and care for you.
6. Lacking knowledge and experience, Obama, once again, causes
Arnold ,   US and UK   (04.29.10)
the Arab Israeli conflict to erupt. Why should Israel give into any demand if at the end, if Israel doesn't meet this temporary Emperor's desires, it will find itself in a much worse security situation. I am surprised the Jewish community of America is still relatively silent while Israel is taken to be slaughtered by America's president.
7. What action is the jihadist going to take?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (04.29.10)
Will this anti Semite order that cruise missiles be launched against Israel? No replacement parts for the aircraft we bought from the U.S.? This is the most hostile "president" that both the U.S. and Israel has had to deal with in both our histories. If bibi had guts, he would go to our friends in the Senate and Congress and say this is what we are threatened with. Time for them to make b.o. stop. It is time for the U.S. to see what they put in the White House and find a way to impeach him and get rid of that gang of leftist subversives that he put there.
8. #1 there is no "America"
ben Ish   (04.29.10)
What you call "America" might have been such at one time, but when you allow a foreigner, purchased by international banking money, to implement legislation opposed by up to 90% of the population, HOW ON EARTH can you continue to claim that Americans "won't let him get away with" ? The authority to rule, lies with the consent of the ruled, yet capitol hill remains in power, in abject and contemptible opposition to the constitution on a regular basis, and a laughable 22% approval rating. Your people are not consenting at all, yet continue to voluntarily submit to increasing subjugation on a daily basis. TARP, Obamacare, Cap and Trade, government buyouts of private corporations, amnesty, tax increases, a national civilian police force to circumvent posse comitatus, the list is endless. You are not free, you are a slave to the illusion of freedom. The US has -clearly- fallen to coup, and the citizens don't even know it. So, good luck with all that.
9. Enough is enough of this dictator
Oren ,   Or Yehuda   (04.29.10)
10. Israel, stall it. Just 6 more months left.
leo ,   usa   (04.29.10)
11. With friends like Obama...
Rickey ,   Ny, NY   (04.29.10)
Obama keeps claiming he is Israel's staunchest supporter, a "rock solid" friendship. Now he threatens a "reevaluation" towards Israel. As the saying goes, "With friends like this, who needs enemies?" PS This is one American Jew who wasn't fooled by Obama from day one!
12. Obama's Palestinian Policy
Syd Chaden ,   Palermo Calif. US   (04.29.10)
Obama's policy has been to insist that Israel accede to Palestinian demands. It is a foregone conclusion that he will continue to do so, regardless of the effect on Israel's security, all the while uttering his "undying commitment to Israel's security".
13. The real problem
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (04.29.10)
I apologize but I disagree with all my fellow talk backers. The real problem is Obama's arrogance to think that he can impose something on other people! He has no idea about what democracy is, he believes he is one step under G-d. He is the worst president ever but he got the Nobel prize, Nobel would be ashamed and kick all the members of the jury out.
14. Palestinian official says...
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.29.10)
That's all you need to read to know that whatever else follows is pure BS
15. #5 dan - thank you!
mira ,   israel   (04.29.10)
israel and america are both the victims of this imposter muslim spy.
16. BHO
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (04.29.10)
The latest news on DEBKAfile: an Iranian aircraft hovered for 20 minutes over the USS Eisenhower gathering intelligence - and the US Navy was not allowed to do anything. This President is a joke.
17. welcome the US retaliation steps against PA
observer   (04.29.10)
will the US occupy the Palestinian land?
Arthur   (04.29.10)
He should not be meddling in Israeli affairs. He is a midget in international affairs. Nobody pays any attention to him. The only place he feels he can push his way around is in Israel. I'm completely disgusted by this administration.
19. indeed stall it
Shalom ,   montreal   (04.29.10)
Israel has two options: 1) stall is it usually does, 2) don't stall and attempt to establish peace. i think the Israeli government will stall and pretend they're serious like they did in oslo and taba because they are not willing to respect international law and return all the land it stole after the initial thefts of 1948 and 1967. This will give time to the resistance forces that are fighting the occupation to build some muscles. something that is currently in the process. soon enough, say in 5 to 10 years, those resistors to the occupiers will be able to get a respectable part of their country back (if not all). So i agree with people of this forum. Israel should stall it. the problem is it cannot start new wars anymore. resistance (like hizbala) are too strong to mess with. same for Syria, Iran... the only thing it can do is kill a bit more Gazan children which doesn't really serve its interest. good luck! lol
20. Obama is not wrong...
Dino Domingo ,   vancouver   (04.29.10)
You people are definitely ignorant. Calling him an anti semite and Hussein Obama as if he were a hardcore Muslim. He is not muslim and even if he was it shouldn't matter. What does matter is he is the president of the US and he was voted in. He isn't the only world leader who thinks you are wrong. Your politicians are corrupt, arrogant, not loyal and your people seem very divided on most issues so who the hell are you to talk. East Jerusalem is and has been a contested part of the city for years. Everybody in the world but you will agree to that so therefore when you ask for world support on Iran then you shouls also accept wotld opinion on East Jerusalem...after all, this land was given to you. If it were up to an Orthodox Jew there would be no state of Israel never mind East Jerusalem! You slanderous name calling of anyone who doesnt agree with you is sick and it shows your lack of intelligence. Israel is a place where many people would love to travel to but your people's attitudes suck! Learn to be a little more objective and... NO I AM NOT AN ANTI SEMITE... I AM ANTI STUPID PEOPLES COMMENTS!
21. Ah, but nothing Pals do is deemed to hinder peace talks
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.29.10)
This letter, if genuine, is a trap, a set-up to blame Israel. After all, nothing the Palestinians have done since Obama came to office are held against them. Not the decision to abandon talks. Not the honoring of terrorists. Not the incitement to violence against Jews and Israel on Palestinian media. Not the seizure and destruction of goods made in settlements. Not the ban on Palestinians working in settlements. Not the demonization of Israel in international forums. None of these have been deemed "provocative steps", and none have been deemed to undermine peace talks. And, unlike Netanyahu, Abbas has never experienced a 43-minute tongue lashing from Clinton. So after most of US policy initiatives in the region have already failed, once this latest one too goes down in flames we know who will be blamed.
22. Obama
Jeff ,   Dallas, TX, USA   (04.29.10)
So do you Jews who supported Obama in '08 still think this Muslem is a friend to the Jew? Well if you might want to get some more cool-aid and keep drinking it.
23. To #5
Jeff ,   Dallas, Tx   (04.29.10)
You couldnt say it any better. Long live Israel
24. #5
nelu ,   portland oregon   (04.29.10)
thank you...
25. To 10
Joe ,   USA   (04.29.10)
Leo: I think that even now, if the House and Senate wanted to, it could restrict Obama's hand in dealing harshly with Israel. I think that the only good thing about this congress is that, at the very least, it is pro-Israel. But other than that, we have to wait 2 and a half years before relations normalize again.
26. # 17
Birdi ,   Israel   (04.29.10)
How about US stopping aid to the Pallies ?? Obama is leading towards this.
27. # 5

Dino, I ask you to read this link;
stude ham   (04.29.10)
who is the source of this preposterous hot air balloon? and exactly who is to be scared by this rumour? the so-called 'indirect' or 'proximity' talks actually were still born and are dead. unless of course it is possible to discunt the effects of hamas, hezbollah, syria, lybia, the arab league, ....
30. Wondering why US is going down the drain?
