2. Unbelievable
Resistor   (05.01.10)
Sarah B, note that JEWS throw big stones at disabled people! Remember this if you can. I wish I could come to Israel-I would laugh my head off at the antics!!
3. " . . no arrests made . . " The question is; why not?
(05.01.10)
4. MISSIONARIES AND THEIR POSITION
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (05.01.10)
The position of missionaries in Israel is tenuous at best , if rather painful for ones' back .As for Jehovahs' witnesses ,I once knew an Irish Jehovahs witness; he claimed he didn't see anything ,when later questioned. As for russians ,I recently purchased a bottle of vodka at the local supermarket when a lady approached me and asked : 'Are you russian ? ' I replied "no , I'm just taking my time."

You are doing a fine job of laughing at Israel right now...all the way frrom Oz.
7. a meeting behind closed doors should be acceptable ?
eporue ,   europe   (05.01.10)
it wasnt missionary, and if they do, and it is against law, then its a case for the police... maybe its not clear to some groups, that self-justice isnt permitted either ? maybe it doesnt come clearer, when they dont get arrested...?
8. Jehova Witness and Ultraorthodox Haredim
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (05.01.10)
The Knesset needs to pass a law banning all missionary activity in Israel. I am a Masorit Jew(conservative). I am happy with my religious beliefs and I do not try and push my beliefs on others. In the Golan we have these so called "Messianic Jews" constantly leaving literature on my car. I am sick of it!
9. "Russians, go back to Russia"? Ironic!!
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (05.01.10)
Many of the 7aredim are from Russia and Eastern Europe. All of them dress and speak as if they just stepped out of a 17th centure shtetl in Eastern Europe. So, "Russians, go back to Russia" is hardly what they should be screaming at those missionary jerkheads.
10. #8 - hey, why not ban democracy as a whole?!
Faruq   (05.01.10)
there are already laws inhibiting missionary activity - totally banning it while there are so many more important things to worry about is both a stupid idea and a slap in the face to free speech. If you want Israel to become a ''politically correct'' state where free speech is punished, ban missionary activity.
11. is is allowed to throw stones in Sabbat?
quentin ,   tel aviv   (05.01.10)
Someone knows what the rabis think about it?
12. 10#,Faruq, of course there are more important things
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (05.01.10)
Just because war with the Hezbollah and possibly even Iran and Syria may be only weeks away does not mean that the Knesset should not deal with lesser problems. The missionary laws in Israel are very weak and the police are of no help enforcing them. My 4 year daughter was playing with friends at a playground near Kastrin. A middle aged man came up to the children and gave them candy and coloring books and crayons. I went up to him and thanked him for his "kind act". Then I opened up the coloring book and saw that the drawings were of Jesus along with titles saying in Hebrew that "Jesus is the Jewish Messiah". Faruq, even in a democracy there has to be limits!

JO ,   USA   (05.01.10)
one of the things that Sharon did before his clinical death was to give a huge peace of land in Tiberia to the US neo-con ,a gift to Bush's followers ....to build a mega church there , pilgrimage site for those guys . it will be good for israel's relations with the US and to piss off the Palestinians ...and the Syrians , so calm down my friend ,there will be a lot more than just a memo on your car,s windshield ..they will drive you CRAZY out of your skin . they are OK though if they take their medications every day .
15. # 12
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.01.10)
Judah, your kids should know never to take candy from a stranger & never to talk to a stranger, even if you live in the Golan.
16. Good publicity for 'missionary activity'!
(05.01.10)
Ups...
17. Birdi and "Left Coast koolaid drinker".
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (05.01.10)
1)Birdi, I actually thought that the man was watching his grandchild and I told my daughter that it was o.k. to accept the gift. Only after reading the coloring book did I realize what his true intentions were(missionary). In the Golan everyone is very friendly both the Jews and the Druze. Its not Tel Aviv. Still my 4 year old knows not to even talk to a stranger unless I am there whereas my 2 year old does not yet know better. 2) Left Coast, I can't wait till the November American elections when the Republicans will slaughter you in the polls.
18. And why were "no arrests'made" ???

Bless you Judah (& your kids) I am not in TA.
21. Rock throwing mob
(05.02.10)
Rocks can kill people. They are trouble makers not religious if they throw rocks. You should use tear gas and rifle butts to disperse the crowd. It's not I imagine as dangerous as a palestinian mob which is understood to actually have people with knifes and molotov cocktails and hidden hand guns. These guys are throwing rocks so perhaps there is similarities. In America Haredim do not riot except never that I can remember. Israel should be similar I think.
22. Judah my reply to #17
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (05.02.10)
How are the Republicans going to do that to me Judah when I myself am a Republican? Like you, I you am looking forward to the Democrats getting slaughtered in November. Things are not always as they seem. Sometimes we ( I include myself) are to quick to judge others.
23. Haredim protest 'with SpudFest
SeantheSheep ,   Vancouver, Canada   (05.02.10)
"These are the corrupt missionaries who are hunting Jewish souls for money. Different elements calling themselves 'Jews' are helping these criminals"... Right; so assault is legal there? And how did money come into it? All their meetings are free to the public. What strange, fanatical logic. The real criminals are easy to recognize "by their fruits".
24. Michael Steiner @ 9, I think you have no clue what you are
leo ,   usa   (05.02.10)
talking about. Ever heard "Dirty kike (zjid), get our of Russia back to your stinky Israel"? Or "Kill kikes, save Russia!!!"? I can understand the sentiment even though I do not condone it.
25. Throw missionaries out of Israel!!
Proud Jew ,   Israel   (05.02.10)
They are out to destroy Am Yisrael from within.
26. That is the classic YET dilemma afflicting all, #22
Cameron ,   USA   (05.02.10)
Yes, November can't come soon enough. Will be a pleasure to see progressive careers come to an end, and various liberal heads stacked on the floor of the Congress.
27. Repress Free Speech? Violence? Is this China? Islam?
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (05.02.10)
Every time the Ultra-Orthodox resort to calls for Israel to repress free speech that doesn't suit them it reinforces their inadequacy and fear; an admission that their errant straying from Torah--contradicting Tan"kh--cannot provide reasonable answers to Christian assertions. Contradicting Tan"kh is an attribute of Christianity (and Islam). Resort to suppression of free speech and violence are historically attributes of Christianity (and Islam)--not to mention Arab states, China, etc. Increasingly, Orthodox rabbis and organizations have begun to see the Light of digging in to (and teaching) Tan"kh and learning to become effective in exposing and invalidating the many false assertions, misrepresentations and idolatrous doctrines of NT and Christianity. The future is with these educated and fearless Orthodox leaders, not with the fearful ignorant Ultra fanatics who, typically (despite exceptions), don't even keep Shabbat ("Six days you shall work..."). We teach anyone who wants to know how to expose and invalidate the false doctrines of Christians (and Muslims) of all persuasions and why Torah (including Orthodox Halakhah) is true. And yes, contrary to the misrepresentations of post-135 C.E. Hellenist Roman--and all subsequent--Christians, the historical Jew Ribi Yehoshua taught Torah and Halakhah, NOT ANY Christian doctrines. If Christians (including J Witnesses, Mormons, "Messianics" and others who view themselves as "Israel, not Christians") wish to follow Ribi Yehoshua they must renounce Christianity and begin keeping Torah according to Halakhah. Jewish leaders who plead to the pope are fools because the historical Jew the pope claims to follow is on the side of Torah, NOT Christianity. Why do you fool with the Christians phony paqid when the historical Jew they view as the pope's boss in on the side of Torah??? The pope's boss demands Christians renounce the idolatry of Christianity and turn to keeping Torah according to Halakhah!!! The linchpin--Gospel--of Christianity is supersession / displacement theology: that the Christian image and idol Jzeus is the same as the historical Jew Ribi Yehoshua. Therefore, ANYONE who asserts that the Pharisee Ribi Yehoshua was the same as the post-135 C.E. Christian fabrication, however ignorantly, is preaching the false doctrine of the Christian Gospel: a Christian missionary. Historians of the most prestigious universities around the world acknowledge that is NOT so (e.g. James Parkes, The Conflict of the Church and the Synagogue); the two were intractable, mutually exclusive, antithetical opposites. Historians have documented that the historical Ribi Yehoshua (Ribi = Pharisee = today's Orthodox Jew) taught Torah and Halakhah while the 4th-century (i.e., post-135 C.E.) Christian image, Jzeus, was "antinomian": anti-Torah. Intractably antithetical. Consider, Christians, if Ribi Yehoshua is the Mashiakh then his intractable antithesis of 135 C.E. is...??? But Jews cannot avoid making individual decisions on this matter: continue complicity in the Christian Gospel or reject the Christian contention that their idolatry has any "foundation" whatsoever in Torah. Ribi Yehoshua was NEVER tolerant of violating Torah, which rules out EVERY uniquely Christian doctrine. Why do you tolerate repeated admissions of fear of a free market of ideas and inferiority to Christianity (by resorting to calls for repression of free speech and stones) when you should be demonstrating the absolute superiority of Torah? He only wants to be free to continue his christian missionary work .
29. 27 the nutzarim missionary speaketh
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.02.10)
under the guise of christian/'messianic' bashing we now have a missionary of yet another fringe sect that also teaches about jesus (well, after strategically changing jesus' name to sound more jewish and other interesting tricks). don't be deceived by his christian-bashing - it's a ploy. no real rabbi endorses his deviant teachings about himself and his re-invented jesus (ask him yourself and he'll talk about his conversion a long time ago and where he prays today - never answers the question). i've repeatedly offered to shut up if he can give evidence to the contrary. he claims to be 'logic' and 'fact' -based about everything. odd.
30. Haredi protesters at JW Convention
Solomon Landers ,   Maryland, USA   (05.02.10)
Did these Haredi protesters even try to learn what Jehovah's Witnesses teach? The name-calling indicates that they are misinformed about Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah's Witnesses were persecuted in Nazi Germany by the Nazis, in Russia by the Soviets, and even now in Russia under a "democracy." They are peaceful people who only want to worship G-d according to the Scriptures.
