Miriam ,   NEGEV   (05.01.10)
to discuss like running the country.
2. Amir
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.01.10)
This excuse for a human being (Yigal Amir) is lucky he is still alive to breath the air in Israel. He should have no rights whatsoever.
3. kinda stupid, isn't it?
Larry ,   los angeles   (05.01.10)
When the lawmakers have nothing to do except make a law for ONE person, it seems that something fundamental is lacking with THEM! Instead of being a 'reactionary' state (meaning making laws in reaction to an event) be a thinking state where lawmakers have some intelligence to make general laws that take in all possibilities.
4. It is about time. The fact he votes is a bigger crime.
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (05.01.10)
5. it would be far better if...they just ignored this person

Israel Forever ,   Israel   (05.01.10)
Ah, Rabin's assassination wasnt an event ?? what was it then ??
7. Larry - you are right
Christopher ,   Boston, MASS   (05.01.10)
Instead of banning voting rights for one felon, all felons and those that refuse to take a loyalty oath to the State should be banned from voting. We have the same laws in the States!
8. Over the Top?
JS ,   USA   (05.01.10)
I would be cautious of this bill. Though according to the article the bill impacts only those convicted for taking part in an act of terror, removal of the right to vote should not be taken lightly. Then again, I also think that the right to vote should be based on serving in the IDF and the reserves.
9. by his actions he lost all rights.
ralph   (05.01.10)
10. Priorities?
Loyal Jew ,   Efrat   (05.02.10)
Gearup the entire Knesset mechanism to deprive oneman of the vote when thousands of Naftushes are on the loose?
11. #3 yes and no
ben Ish   (05.02.10)
Yes it is ridiculous to make (or even discuss) a law for a single individual. At the same time, I believe reaching for laws that are perfect is equally irrational. (i.e., "make general laws that take in all possibilities") Do people really view themselves as so absolutely and infinitely, yea even divinely wise that they can write laws that will never be wrong? Not even the laws of physics and mathematics are absolute. The depth and breadth of the wisdom of man is far closer to the bottom of the scale than the top. What *IS* at the top is only mans hubris in imagining himself capable of achieving such things. Taking in all possibilities is just not possible. If you try to do so, you will inevitably victimize the innocent. People are not numbers, and do not lend themselves to absolutes and interpretation as a mathematical expression.
12. playing with fire no line between this and
anoynmous ,   bat-yam   (05.02.10)
revoking all haredi and arab votes with exceptions. let the arabs adopt blissful individualism and migrate out of isral while attacking the radicals let the haredim keep their high fertility but have a constant outflow of secularists out.!
13. 3 - reactionary has a bad rep ,
anoynmous ,   bat-yam   (05.02.10)
most states including "progressive" ones pass more laws in reaction than in planning.
14. # 2 - narrow minded double standard
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.02.10)
And yet you would fight and demonstrate for the rights of the Palestinean terrorists who have murdered Jews, wouldn't you? I would call that a disgusting and dispicable double standard, typical of self-hating self-destructing leftists.
15. Life,Solitary,Revoke Vote...Why not torture him ?
Roland Seener ,   London England   (05.02.10)
16. Why do arab MURDERERS get college degrees from leftist
universities?   (05.02.10)
yigal amir killed one person and the arabs kill hundreds but get more rights then regular murderers! soon the leftist dictatorship in israel will be destroyed!
17. sure, together with Anat Kamm's right and her friends
eli ,   haifa   (05.02.10)
Great idea, as long as it is also applied to leftist traitors
18. # 14
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.02.10)
NO I would not fight for the Palestinian terrorists rights. NEVER. Quit putting words in my mouth. You owe me an apology Yitchak, you are way out of line.
19. #18 from Yitzchak
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.02.10)
I apologize. In the past, your posts seemed a little bit left wing, and I made the mistaken assumption that you were a hard-line left-winger. My apologies.
20. It's obvious, Yitzchak, that you critique Birdi,
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (05.02.10)
one of the most adament patriotic and proud Jews you'd ever want to meet, and make a wholly ignorant and mistaken comment about her. Ignorant because you don't read the poster section of Ynet and because you make rash, wholly unqualified judgements about her. Now, if you're a real "mensch", you'll make a public apology. This would add, not subtract, to your credibility.
21. Proposed law does not go far enough
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (05.02.10)
Why can convicted criminals serving their time vote but Israelis who are abroad for business (short trips) or students not vote at all? It is time to put some sanity into our voting laws.
22. # 19
Birdi ,   Israel & proud of it   (05.02.10)
Thankyou Yitchak If my posts have mislead you, I apologize. I am far from a hard-line, left-winger (not even a tiny bit ! )
23. # 20
Birdi ,   Israel & proud of it   (05.02.10)
Thank you Robert for coming to my defence. What you say about me is 100% correct.
24. #22
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.02.10)
Ah dear Birdi, I went back to find one of your posts - and I saw that indeed you are a right winger. I saw where you wrote that you would keep Gaza closed until we get back Shalit. My son served in a combat unit with the Givati and was in Lebanon in the Lebanon war and said: "Aba, if something happens (God forbid), don't allow me to traded for murderers who will come back and kill more Jews." We have some of the Hamas politicians sitting in our prisons. One for one. OK. I'll be generous for the sake of peace and humanity. Two for one. But Gaza? Birdi, I personally wouldn't open it up for any price. They want their independence. Let them be totally INDEPENDENT. Period. Perhaps I am a little bit more right wing than you and thus I thought of you as a "left-winger". Although you are a "right-winger", trust me - you stand to my left. :-) Apologies again for misinterpreting you. And yes Robert - I am a mensch. And more importantly - I have tried my best to instill "menshlichtkeit" in my 5 children.
25. # 24
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.02.10)
Yitzchak, I will go so far as to say that there should be no peace talks BEFORE Gilad Shalit is released. I agree with you about letting Gaza be totally independent. I dont believe in giving Judia & Samaria back. As far as Jerusalem is concerned, this city is the eternal Jewish city which must never ever be divided. Land gained by war is not reversable. Do I still stand to your left??
26. Yitzchak of Tel Aviv
Ginette Golden ,   Toronto, Canada   (05.02.10)
You are indeed a "mensch" for apologizing to Birdi because she did not deserve your attack, by a long shot. I know I live outside of Israel and sometimes my comments are taken out of contest (heck sometimes they are not even published!), however the same rules should apply to any free country that is, no prisoner should have the privilege to vote (yes you read right: privilege). If they are in jail, they should lose that right because they did something terribly wrong either to their country or to humanity...a scary thought just went through my head: I am starting to sound like Atilla and I don't even drink alcohol! # 7, Christopher, I was wondering the same thing…why? Eric in Tel Aviv # 21, I agree with you. Shavouah tov.
27. # 26
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.02.10)
Thank you Ginette...big smile for you.
28. Right to vote
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (05.03.10)
All prisoners should lose their right to vote while in prison.
29. The killer of Rabin

He looks like Binladen without the beard.
30. # 10 Priorities
(05.03.10)
The harm this 'oneman'did to Israel and to the Jews in the world is enormous, and who knows if it can be repaired, the only people who benefited from the murder of Rabin were Arafat,Hamas and all the palestinians,Rabin was Israel's strongest card,he was respected by the entire world including the arabs,by the end of the day Israel will have to transfer more land to the Arabs than if Rabin had been alive and continued the talks with the palestinians.
