1. The Israeli police are far better than the Riverside, Califo
Rivkah   (05.04.10)
California police in the area of senior abuse. Ask Don Mingus about the Riverside police reaction to a caregiver murdering his father with a hammer blow to the back of the head after being confronted with stealing over $15,000. in forged signatures on checks. The Riverside police let the caregiver go without charges or a fine or prison time. They must have been in on the take in thefts of the elderly and did not want to lose a good income source (the caregiver). They told Don Mingus that his father was old and would have died, anyway. Be glad you are in Israel where the police care about elder abuse. When my sister Martha mistreated her elderly husband who had a heart attack and cancer and a lot of other diseases like diabetes and hypertension, the police would do nothing. She refused to give her husband James pain medicine and the police did nothing to help him. He had to call an ambulance to take him to a hospital to get pain medicine. Martha should have been prosecuted for elder abuse, but the Orange County, California police did nothing. Thank you Israel for doing something about the situation in Israel.
2. Don't kick her out the country
Talula ,   Israel   (05.04.10)
Let her suffer and rot in an Israeli prison. Let her be given a torrent of abuse by other inmates. Then, when she's had enough, hang her. I feel so sick and sad for this poor elderly woman. She's been through enough in her life - at least respect and acknowledge that and hand down the harshest sentence possible!!!!!
3. B"H the family caught her and stopped the violence.

4. metapelet
LULY ,   ISRAEL   (05.04.10)
i think everibody who have a metapelet for children or elderly shout have survolance cameras in the homes Most of those metaplim are abusing eledrly and some children ,and that shoud be the case in schools too and in kinder gardens Those metaplim/metaplot do not do this job because they like to help but FOR MONEY and they do more harm than we can imagine not all of them but to much of them
5. Is the abuser Jewish or non-Jewish?
Avi ,   Geneva   (05.04.10)
Y-net should clarify this important detail. Was anti-Semitism involved? Can a Jew treat a Holocaust survivor in this way?
6. Avi #5
(05.04.10)
What difference does it make? The woman abused an elderly person. That in itself is sufficient to be charged. That the elderly person is also a survivor makes the story more horrific, but not worse before the law. That the metapelet is Jewish or not makes no difference either - the law is the same for all...Or should be.
7. To #6 - no you are wrong. It makes a world of difference.
Avi ,   Geneva   (05.04.10)
If it was a non-Jewish metapelet, we can assume ordinary anti-Semitism as the motive and warn people against hiring foreigners. If the metapelet was Jewish, the problem is more horrific, because it means that Israeli society has so degraded that we can't trust our own people with our own loved ones. The issue is not merely legal, as you suggest, but sociological.
8. Caretaker arrested
Nili   (05.04.10)
Now, what about all the seniors who do not have children who are concerned about their well-being. Studies have been done showing that the elderly in western countries are abused by caretakers. What has our world come to?
9. I'm not squeamish, but after seeing
steven ,   Tel-aviv   (05.04.10)
I'm not squeamish, but after seeing that video footage , I felt physically sick
10. I was plain angry seeing this video May this be a lesson
Al   (05.04.10)
to my generation of baby boomers who are more concerned with their toys, vacations, sexual experiences and other crap. My late parents both survivors were deemed to be suffering from Atlzheimers about 5 years ago. I had no choice as I am alone but to place them in long term care. While they were in the local hospital waiting for a long term placement they were getting excellent care. Ater a while a place opened up at the local Jewish long term facility (Situated near the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal) where I placed my mother. To say it was a bardak would be an understatement.(dirty, violent patients, unkept rooms, careless stafff, useless administration etc) I proceeded to have her taken out of there. I then placed her in a non Jewish long term facility, where the people there lovingly attended to her till her demise. Granted the food there wasnt 100% mehadrin or even kosher, but my late mother had already earned her place in gan eden. I visited quite often and all throughout my mother was well fed, well groomed and in good spirits. My dad who was suffering from a more advanced stage of Alzheimer died soon after being diagnosed. The lesson from this is simply this. Look after your parents... Do every thing you can to protect them in their advanced age... Once they are gone..you will be singing the blues....
11. "Lost control of herself"
Shoshi ,   Jerusalem   (06.17.12)
That was definitely not an issue of a moment of rage where the metapelet "lost control of herself" as she was mentioned to have said. That was deliberate, ongoing, stam abuse. Disgusting!
12. Abuse of Elderly Lady
Cathy Fitzgerald ,   Australia   (04.02.13)
I am so glad this poor womans abuser has been caught. There are about 12 counts of abuse in that short video. The victim must have been terrified. Abuse of the elderly is far to commonplace. It takes a lot of courage to stand up for the elderly, if the abuser is a member of the family it makes it harder but very worthwhile. It is great that this lady had family members she could trust.
