1. ...and the warriors, soft or hard, claim to want peace...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.05.10)
Are Obama's advisors blind...??!!
2. Fayyad's true colours emerged Friday.
DR ,   Gwent UK   (05.05.10)
Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad sponsored a youth fencing tournament in Jericho on Friday named after terrorist leader Abu Jihad. Abu Jihad, former second-in-command to Yasser Arafat, planned Fatah’s terror activities beginning in the mid-1960s. He masterminded the 1978 Coastal Road Massacre, the worst terror attack in Israel’s history, which left 38 Israeli civilians dead – 13 of them children – and 71 wounded. Fayyad's true colours emerge yet again.... Enough said.
3. You're right, Asher, but...
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (05.05.10)
There's nothing new here that hasn't been publicized for years. It's PR 101 (NOT Israeli "Hasbara") AND the only ones who can do this are totally absorbed in climbing (or remaining at the top of) some party ladder: party influences, party obligations, party favors, constituents leanings and the like. Not only are these government bureaucrats completely uninterested and not listening to you or me, these national urgencies conflict with their bible: party considerations. The solution must be deeper and more profound: in changing the underlying political map--which they will oppose until overwhelmed and 'da bums'--bureaucrats of many parties--are thrown out of power. Eventually, and inexorably, Israel will find that that such things cannot be done without MUCH larger threshholds for party representation (that limits 2-3 parties in the K'nesset) COMBINED WITH regional representation in the K'nesset. Lacking either guarantees continued party blinkers and national decline. Coalitions should be iron-clad BEFORE elections, into 2-3 parties at most, so that the people can then vote on the coalition PLATFORM that they see as best for Israel rather than continuing to dupe the public into voting for tweedle-dee or tweedle-dum who then, whichever one is elected, does whatever-the-h--l they want, which is to please their party and play self-serving party politics. The people will still occasionally allow themselves to be duped--like the Americans who voted for Mr. Charisma without looking closely and critically enough at his background and agenda (platform)--but at least there would be a platform that thinking people could support. Under the current method, we can only vote for heads of parties whose influence is based on coalition power that inexorably produces a gross perversion of the people's vote. 4. Mr. Friedman you would prefer suicide attacks?!!!!!!
Salma ,   Palestine   (05.05.10)
Seem you need to think harder Before you answer the question?! I believe Dr.Fayyad can lead his people at this stage..Fayyad's policies have delivered some good results. The WB economy is growing fast and there's more peace and security ,he suceeds in building real institutions..we know that we need in future a strong army in order to get our land back, but this in the future rather than immediate, and not now. A death blow to the Palestinians moderates is a great loss for us, but basically you too Let's help each other
5. IF YOU CHOSE TO WALK DEAD SLOW ! YOU WONT GO ANY WHERE
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (05.05.10)
THAT IS MY ADVICE TO PALESTINIAN PEOPLE. ITS ABOUT TIME YOU TO WALK LIKE A RUN FOR 100 METERS. AS I SAID ABOVE ALL MY ADVICES TO BOTH PEOPLE BUT THEIR LEADERS. THEIR LEADERS ARE FROM SAME SUPPLY. THEY WALK AS THEY WISH. AND NOW THEY PREFER TO WALK TOO SLOW. BUT BOTH PEOPLE NEED TO WALK MUCH THAN WALK. RUN RUN RUN
6. Increase our relationship with arab countries
Yossef ,   Rehovot, Israel   (05.05.10)
This is the first step we must do. Don't forget the past but don't obliterate the future because of the past. Stop Gaza blockade and tie official relationship with Hamas (Yep) and recognize Hamas as the sovereign power in Gaza. Negotiate with Egypt about that question but quick. Begin direct links with Damas. Arabia Saoudit et... Stop waiting orders from the US or European countries. Having normal relationship with our arab neighbors is most important than the opinion of the rest of the world, it will follow anyway.
7. Interior Ministry should ban entry for leaders
Carl ,   London   (05.05.10)
The Israeli Interior Ministry should prevent entry into Israel for the leaders of the boycott organizations. The people who organize these campaigns should know that they will never again be permitted to enter the state of Israel. This is an important signal that should be implemented immediately.
8. The Soft War
Van Der Merva ,   Suid Afrika   (05.05.10)
The Soft War can be won with Software the world needs... at the end of the day people talk business not war. when the Pal people decide they want peace they can come to Israel and say... OK we want peace, however as long as they want war... war is what they will get. Islam does not allow for peace!!! Soft war will lose fuel as time progresses. It was Israeli people who wanted peace more then anyone else on this earth, untill even the most pro peace camp collapsed as we realised that Islam does not allow for peace. It is a matter of time untill the world will see this aswell. Europe will see it first though as their Moslem population grows and will want independence from Christian Europe. Israel has realised that there is not much they can do untill Islam recognises that there are faiths on this earth who deserve respect and freedom
9. VITAL ARTICLE to recognise truth!
Gilad ,   London UK   (05.05.10)
For years now Israel has become a no go zone for many Jews worldwide. The divestment groups have managed to scare off Jewish groups (or non Jewish ones who sympathise with Israel!) from talking about the middle east with conviction. They have managed to make acts of violence or threats against groups and officials with impunity. They have turned campuses, where leaders are born, in to anti-israel zionist-hate zones. Israeli officials must be scared of holding events anywhere. Israeli officials must be scared of entering countries! This happens while members of those same groups invite supporters of suicide bombers, those advocating killing of homosexuals (in relation to muslim groups) and others. Successive Israeli gov's have FEARED addressing the issue and thus gave a free hand to those who hate and want destruction to rule free with their message. Jewish groups, eager to not stand out, also allowed this to fester, as the hate groups do not have the same historic fears of standing out. This is becoming a national security threat to Israel and (slowly) the Jewish community. Israel must treat this as a threat no smaller than any other strategic threat. Experts must be called in to review and build a strategy to decapitate (metaphorically) these groups and their message. Thank you for actually writing this article. So many Israelis are oblivious to how dangerous this threat is. It's growing and growing exponentially. And as soon as these groups start having successes, they will snowball as you said. A strategy must be made to directly challange these groups legitimacy, methods, abuse of power. They must be returned to the small hate groups they came from, otherwise they will become 'normal'.
10.  I say it more powerfully DR @ 2 The>>
JAMES ,   ISRAEL   (05.05.10)
I knew it from the start how that tricky bastard really is.Many seem to have put a trust on him(by that I meas our news media) How stupid can our media and some Jews swallowed this man who was supposedly one tio do business with? Hardihar-har! He is like the rest of them.i.e Ratifart,Abbas, and the rest of them cut off the same cloth. Israel can manage to do without the countries who are being against Israel. It has been so since 1945 and on and on. True colours did you say?I knew from the very beginning.
11. #4-Suicide attacks no longer an option.
Yossi G. ,   Jerusalem   (05.05.10)
With the "apartheid wall" in place, only the odd one may get through from time to time. And you are living proof of why the fence is needed. Only "Jordan is Palestine" will bring any relief.
12. How about ending tthe ocupation? Isn´t it easier?
Michael ,   sao paulo   (05.05.10)
13. I wouldn't worry about soft war on Israel much.
leo ,   usa   (05.05.10)
In few years it will die down on its own. The only reason we have it high today is because of 2009 Gaza events. The longer peace will last the harder it will be to make case for those who hate Israel. The rest of the World who do not have dog in the fight get bored and annoyed quickly. Besides, benefits of dealing with Israel far outweigh the benefits of boycotting it.
14. arabs are masters of soft war , soft genocide etc
anoynmous ,   bat-yam   (05.05.10)
they have been doing it for decades!
15. Buycott Israel
BH ,   Iowa   (05.05.10)
Support Israeli businesses and fight the BDS crazies. "Soft War" is still war, just a different front. Whenever someone screams "boycott" - the answer is BUYCOTT.
16. to #4, salma..
danal ibn asir ,   yisrael   (05.05.10)
.., no, we wouldnt prefer suicide attacks, we would prefer if you STOP TRYING TO STEAL OUR LAND!
17. You can’t fight an enemy you’re afraid to offend
Ron B. ,   Lod   (05.05.10)
Pick up the morning paper any day or log on to your computer and you’ll be treated to reports of savagery by followers of Islam. No one could blame you if you drew the inference that Islam worldwide is a malevolent force. Yet, many would have you believe that the problem isn’t Islam, but “Radical Islam.” Virtually all voters in “Palestine” back terrorists. In Britain, 25% of Muslims approve of the London subway bombings of July 7, 2005 as described at : http://xrl.us/ontxq
18. Soft Wars
Nili   (05.05.10)
First we need to clean the corruption out of our government--start with Barak. He is systematically playing into the hands of the PA and Hamas while demoralizing every sector of our society. There can be no pride of country when our government does not even teach our own history. Until we get a PM with a backbone who can stand up to the world and tell them that we will not give another grain of sand to those who "still" have in their constitution the goal of wiping us off the map. And those who would try to stand proud are libeled and face biased police and court treatment --why? To appease the left and those who would kill us? We will never win the war with the world as long as we let the 5th column eat away at our foundations from within.
19. Gilad London UK @ 9..Briefly put Gilad>>>
KATE ,   ISRAEL   (05.05.10)
Firstly a very well written response vital to recognise truth? In that case what Israel lacks is: A good PR to counteract these peoples, who although are not the enemies of Israel as such,do more damage via their following the proxies i.e Arab/Muslims who have become incredibly sophisticated in attracting individuals to join in their endeavour and thus sabotage Israel by the means(important) you proferred in your cogent post. Excuse me but,who are you thanking for writing the article?is it Ynet,or the man called Fayyad who is the subject we were supposed to discuss? By the way,I am not levelling any criticism, just what I referred i.e GOOD PR NEDED BY ISRAEL that has been remiss throughout the decades.
20. To number 4 salma A Reply you should remember>>
KATE ,   ISRAEL   (05.05.10)
Sorry if and when(big if)you get a state in the long future,IT WILL MOST CERTAINLY BE A DEMILITARIZED ONE.Netanyahu said it,so will the Israeli people. You ain't going to have an army,no guns or rockets nothing. Take your head out of the sand dunes. And stop pretending you will get the IMPOSSIBLE,for you will not. period.
21. Sami
Kate #20 ,   Sami   (05.05.10)
You sound very nervous about Palestine will have an army? Just for your information, it will, altough it will take time it will have it. History has proven that we need to be able to defend ourselves from the massacres you have done to us. This is just the same argument as you had after ww2. Many kisses, sami
22. to the guy from sao paulo
Y.G. ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
There *is* no 'occupation'. No competent international body has ever ruled that the Jews living in Judea and Samaria are on 'occupied' land. All resolutions pertaining to Israel are Chapter VI Resolutions, and thus non-binding. But why do we bother? 'For in every generation, they rise up to destroy us'. The current anti-Israeli climate is a result of a) virulent anti-Semitism, and b) complete and utter terror of the Arabs and what the 'religion of peace' will do if people don't agree with them that everything that happens to them - from deaths in Gaza to a heavy rainfall in Judea and Samaria is 'the fault of the Jews'. It's all our fault, anyway. Little Fatima stubs her toe on the fridge.. it's the Jews' fault. Little Momo catches a cold. Damn those Jews! A car crash in Gaza... those dirty Jews! Brothers and sisters in the Diaspora .. please, all of you - to Israel now, before it is too late!
23. #12&22:Jordan,Syria&Lebanon Barriers to Ending Occupation
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (05.06.10)
4th or 5th try; ynet must prefer to censor it Read some history: the occupation of the Holy Land began under the auspices of the Romans in 135 C.E. When the indigenous people of the Holy Land finally returned to reclaim their native land, the Arab squatters abandoned the Holy Land en masse and returned to THEIR indigenous lands--today's Jordan (primarily), Lebanon, Syria and Egypt. But Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt keep these returnees prisoners in their own native countries, caged in squalid "refugee camps"--why? Because that is the only way to keep them starving, destitute and "fighting mad" enough to carry out suicide operations and other attacks on Israel... and the greater crime is that the UN is funding these prisons in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt. Thus, the UN is financing the occupation of Shekem, Beit Lekhem, parts of Arab-occupied East Yerushalayim, K'phar Shiloakh (Arabized to "Silwan"), etc. and, thereby, the UN is financing the continuing wars. Just yesterday, reports surfaced the EU is actively financing efforts to influence the media, especially Israeli media, in concert with this UN, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi and Iranian (with their satellites Khizb-Allah & Hamas) sponsored war-mongering to continue their Islamic occupation of the Holy Land. If Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt would treat their returnees humanely the "supply" of willing "jihadists" among Palistanis would dwindle and the banner of "jihad" against "Zionists" would lose its meaning and motivation. The sails of conflict would lose the wind. If the UN would stop financing the persecution of the residents in these "refugee camps" in their own native countries, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt could hardly afford to keep up this repeating war, becoming dependent on the Saudis and Iran (both of whom they fear) for financing, encouraging greater ties but also further draining Iran's economy. The barriers to ending the occupation are the UN, the EU, Iran, the Saudis, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Khizb-Allah and Hamastan. Complain about their refusal to end the occupation to them. 24. # 22 and #23 - Fanatics
Michael ,   soa paulo   (05.06.10)
It´s because of fanatics like you that Jews in the Diaspora feel more and more distant from Israel. Sadly...
25. 24 - not to mention how jews here feel about them
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.07.10)
they are their own worst advertisement.
26. Stop blindness
frenchman ,   Paris France   (05.08.10)
No matter how skillfully you will try to defend colonization or international law's violation lasting for 43 years, you are bound to fail. The whole word is tired of this conflict. It's not a matter of antisemitism. Fighting against apartheid or colonization in the past had nothing to see with racism againts white people, but just with sake of peace and justice. In international polls, Israël stands among Iran and north Corea in terms of popularity. This should make you think. You may think to be right against the whole word, including USA now, but this is foolish. Be sure that in Europe, very few people dare to openly support Israël, because they are fully conscious that current Israël's policy is harder and harder to defend. In fact, keeping on colonization is the best way to worsen antisemitism. Precision : i'am not a muslim, nor an Arab.
