you Arabs are very expert to turn things around
32. to #28 because you don't have collective
ghostq   (05.06.10)
history you tent to believe something for examples like the riots in 30's in Jaffa by arabs, arabs thought the first in may march was jewish demonstation, as result jews died innocent pedestrians, that was before 1948, another fine example would be the Nabi Musa gerila troops, mmm irony is it was hit by lightning, and burned to the ground. the turks at that time turn the blind eye from what was going on, later on they where asosiet themselves with the Germans as ally during ww1(not the second). the turks tried forcly to convert jews to Islam(so much for religous tolerance) the famouse one they succeded to convert was shabtai tzvi but he was locked up and died on exil, his grave is near serbia, the rest of jews they didn't succeed to convert to islam. so you see if all your knowledge about relationship btween jews and arabs in Israel comes from gov source than you don't have all the info.
33. To Palestinian in #27, a response
Jacob Blues ,   New York City, USA   (05.06.10)
You stated " author mentioned the jews fled from Arab countries after 1948. you only see it as displacing/dispossession of the jews, but you didn't think how those jews were living peacefully in those areas without problems for hundreds of years while the jews were murdered elsewhere. Only when you came to displace the Palestinians the problems started, not because you're jews...." The problem with your argument is that it attempts to legitimize the actions of the Arabs who committed violence against the local Jewish populations and ultimately drove them out. Even if the Arabs had a problem with those Jews in Israel, they should have had no problem with the Jews living side by side with them as neighbors for all those centuries. BUT, they did, and ultimately, the Arab world from the Magrheb through Iraq, became essentially Jew free. When a specific people are thrown from the place of their birth, in 21 odd nations, because of a conflict in another region, then there is something other than the idea of "well, it was the Zionists fault" at work here. The Arabs committed ethnic cleansing in their lands and that's an independent action on its own. This is something that to date, has yet to be admitted, addressed, and reconciled.
34. Fair?
London man ,   London   (05.06.10)
"43,000 square miles of land would be made available " - i.e. illegally handed over from one owner to another. "several hundred thousand Arabs who left with the hope of returning to a land free of Jews" - very sloppy writing by the authors. I agree, several hundred thousand Arabs fled, but I would love to see the author's justification for their loaded assumption. People flee in war for their lives and their safety. Did the Jews of the Yishuv who fled to different areas during the war also "hope to return to a land free of Arabs?" The one-sidedness of the authors in just the first couple of paragraphs of grotesque. Naturally. Which newspaper am I reading, duh?
35. Jacob Blues, address both, problem solved...
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (05.06.10)
Palestinian simply pointed out that you will not accept the Nakba, and you offer no reconciliation for the ethnic cleansing of 716,000 Arab Palestinians and the destruction of their villages, yet in the same breath you make a false claim and write no one ever addresses the Jew who were expelled from Arab countries. Every single credible peace activist that I am aware of is fully supportive of Jews seeking reparations for whatever ethnic cleansing can be determined. The problem is, as Palestinian points out, folks like you only want to "reconcile" one side. Indeed, since Israel is still doing this today, that also undermines your argument. Jordan is very upset over Israel's newest change to a "security" law providing for mass "deportations"
36. London man, it's getting far worse...
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (05.06.10)
...the factual errors alone are painting Israel in an incredibly bad light, because as those who are actually informed read articles like this know, Israel looks like a backwards and somewhat creepy little country. Full of meanness and always willing to wage more war. It is actually very sad how bad it's gotten. A once proud people on the brink of civil war, beset from all sides as a pariah Apartheid occupation state, relentless censorship, a fractured democracy, rising fascism, a nation now facing pressure over its nukes in direct relation to its paranoia about Iran who has no nukes. All because of the occupations. Oh well. The downward spiral continues.

if you claim this article falsifies history, please DO FURNISH US WITH ANY INFORMATION TO REBUKE IT. please make it point by point in your answer to this author of this article and furnish any information or sources you have as to the authors historical inaccuracies. provide historical sources please, point by point to justify your incredibly dumb claims. history cannot be turned around. reading millions of books by both jews and non jews and even arab historians point to the verasity and truthfulness of each and every point this author makes historically. you are the wingnut here because no matter how desperately you wish this information to be incorrect, in fact it is historically sound, proven by extensive literature, hostgorical accounts, archives and is the absolute truth. common, i challenge you..point by point arguments on your part with foot notes and historical data to show the "inaccuracies" of the above information. hameed aboughaze, iranian

sir, you must be in first grade or possess the iq of a retard or the most uninformed individual on this planet. let me explain to you in terms your iq can comprehend. this article doesn't present an opinion. this article presents historical truths that happened. truths that aqre based on historical research and sound historical archival knowledge. the author's opinion is formed mainly based ON THESE TRUTHFUL HISTORICAL ACCOUNTS. however, on the other hand, what you wrote in your post is an opinion based on wishful thinking disregarding the prooven historical account on the ground supported by millions of literature accounts, historical prooven facts, etc... yours is just an opinion. the author's is an opinion based on truths. hameed aboughaze, iranian. yours is an opinion. the author's is a conclusion based on truthful facts and historical data.
40. A good article
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.07.10)
There is an ongoing seemingly unending unfairness to Israel. This article points out what to so many people is obvious.
41. Israel not looking inward
Boston ,   Boston   (05.07.10)
A lot about this article is ridiculous. Should the Jews who were removed from their native Arab countries and tortured have compensation? Yes of course. These are the true Jews of the Middle East who have claim to Israel. The Israel that was created in 1948 and the Israel of today are two entirely different nations. The Israel of today which instantly grants citizenship to any Jew whether they be from San Francisco or Paris simply because they are Jewish is unjust. What claim do they have to this land? Is the land their fathers toiled for generations? The Jews of Baghdad and Cairo and the Jews of Beirut are the ones who deserve claim to it much in the same way the Arabs do. The Arab nations may have removed the Palestinians to attempt to remove Israel from the map, but in all honesty, it is not the responsibility of any Arab nation to integrate them. Lebanon which is already full to the top with its own population has hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to deal with who would greatly change the balance of power if they were integrated does not have the responsibility to house them. The Palestinians are not going anywhere and are only growing in numbers in "your" land. They should not have to look at it as being outnumbered. By saying that you are 5.5 million among 325 million, you are isolating yourselves from everyone else. The Israelis who continue to expand settlements, use up most of the natural resources, make highways that cut through the West Bank that are settler-only highways, punish Gaza for democratic elections that they don't like, and the list goes on - they are the ones who have a responsibility. This is the real unfairness that no one chooses to acknowledge.
42. Boston #41 try dealing with your own issues
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.08.10)
Our immigration policies are none of your damn business. With over 25% of the countries banning the immigration of Jews we feel that they need a refuge. As for being unjust - then I guess you should be addressing Ireland, Germany, Greece and Japan which have similar laws. As for the so-called 'Palestinians' they were born in those Arab nations, their parents were born there, and for most of them their grandparents were born there, but it's not their responsibility to integrate them? Why the hell not? Because apartheid is acceptable? All the land west of the Jordan is ours. It is only 0.07% of the Middle East, but it's ours. We do not want the other 99.93% - the Arabs can have it, but yes we do want our land.
43. This problem is not going anywhere
Boston   (05.08.10)
All I have to say is that when the Arabs begin to outnumber the Jews in Israel, and they will, the state has a lot of issues it has to come to grips with.
44. Is it Fair
Jeff Morton ,   Lakewood, USA   (05.09.10)
Israel is the size of a Q-tip in comparison to the majority of Islamic nations that surround her. She is the only nation in history to be reborn. The only country in the world to have revived it's ancient language (Hebrew) It is the only democracy in the entire Middle East.. Is it fair that the Radical Islamic world denies to it's children this amazing miracle...Israel ......by teaching its children to kill, murder, blow up, destroy, obliterate, wipe off the map, commit suicide, riot, bomb, desecrate, pillage and hate all in an attempt to KILL A MIRACLE. What is unfair is that the whole of the Islamic world allows th to occur!
45. I cannot believe
Sandy ,   Canada   (05.10.10)
how many people are praising this article. It is not historically accurate now matter whose side your on. It's just recycling the same silly lies that have been repeated addressed.

As usual, Dan a very thought provocing article.
47. people who support love, freedom and democracy
Nimrod ,   Baghdad, Iraq   (05.29.10)
anyone who believes in Freedom, Love, Democracy and wants to live in a modern state must support Israel. again, my message to Israel is that stand up straight and no one will ever climb on your back, so even if the world stands against you, don't fear because the hearts of righteousness and those who believe in freedom stand united with Israel.
