1. Same as died in Auschwitz
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (05.05.10)
These are the same Jewish intellectuals that said "Hitler will never murder Jews, he needs us" These "intellectuals" would have us all march back into the ovens. The only solution is to take title to the entire West Bank and declare Jerusalem unified under Jewish control. The Palestinians can return to Jordan from whence they came. However Gaza is also lovely this time of year.
2. The only realistic solution to the "occupation"...
Jake ,   USA   (05.05.10)
..is for Israel to annex the West Bank, and grant full citizenship to all of its inhabitants. Since that scenario would pose a demographic threat to the Jewish state of Israel, all options should be considered - they are: 1. Annex & grant citizenship to everyone (good because the jihadist PA will be dissolved, bad because the Jewish majority would be threatened). 2. Annex Areas B & C, and grant citizenship to Arabs who pledge loyalty to Israel. The dissidents who refuse to pledge loyalty will remain citizens of the PA (not a very popular option, but better than the status quo). 1. Maintain the status quo until enough Jews move home (least popular option, but most probably what will happen).
3. Left Wing Loonies to be percise
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (05.05.10)
Left Wing Loonies to be precise. The use of the word intellectuals says it all. The question is who funds them?? Bet the UK Government and the EU. http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com
4. Strange
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (05.05.10)
The most important thing that this "Jews" have in common with the US Jews of JStreet is that they are sure they know better and that they don't even dream about making Alyiah. May it be that there is another thing in common, they are comfortable where they are. And we Israelis are bothering them with our crazy ideas about determining our own future and fighting to live in a Jewish State!
5. Idiots - It is the Arabs who are occupying Israel
Oren ,   Or Yehuda   (05.05.10)
6. Enemy =s Friend =s Enemy
Phil ,   Flushing,USA   (05.05.10)
The new International theme that constructive criticism is done in the "ATMOSPHERE OF LOVE". We are advising Israel as their friends. It is truly amazing the people who are advising us. When your friends have the same opinion as your enemies you end up with a world that is in the shape it is today. All of Israel's problems will go away if they listen to JSTREET and JCALL, because if you multiply two negatives you end up with a positive like Hitler and Japan. Where is Neville Chamberlain to finish out the cast.
7. European Jews don't want to pressure Israel
Michel ,   Jerusalem   (05.05.10)
Only a few leftist of them subsided by J Street money !
8. Figures ? you say figures ?
Gerard ,   Jerusalem   (05.05.10)
Just looking to be interviewed by the medias and invited by Authorities. Their Jewish soul has disappeared for a long time..
9. some jews
Simon   (05.05.10)
Only some lefties are doing this. Most people support the israeli governemnt, dislike Obama and are sceptical about the "palestinian" "leadership", even tho they want peace some day.
10. These "intellectual European Jews" should be put on a list
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.05.10)
and loose their right of aliyah, indefinitely and also be refused entrance to the state of Israel.
11. "intellectuals"???
tom ,   toronto, canada   (05.05.10)
surely "intellectuals" would realize that the "two state solution" is neither! arab palestine has been called jordan since 1923. and since the united nations partition plan of 1947, the arabs have only insisted on the destruction of israel, and not the creation of more "palestines". why was there never any talk of independence while the west bank was under full Jordanian control, from 1948 to 1967? and how will an independent state, run by the plo, be good for israel? how will it lead to peace to have israel cut in half by armed terrorists, running their own country? if tons of arms flow each month into gaza, in spite of the Israeli blockade, what will happen when the plo is given sovereignty? these "intellectuals" need an education in history, mathematics, and clear reasoning. and a little less hashish and turkish coffee!
12. HaHalom HaShalom
Rami Abutbul ,   Yehudi Europei'i   (05.05.10)
Layla tov ;)
13. TWO STATES but NO Palestinian J'lem
Gavriel ,   Budapest, EU   (05.05.10)
I agree there is no need of millions of West Bank Arabs within a Zionist state which is based on the ideals of a Jewish and democratic majority state. Westbank Arabs would never be loyal to a Jewish state, so let them go and build their state where they are in majority. BUT: Israel should keep Jerusalem as its united capital city, as well the Jewish blocks: Ariel, Maale Adumim, Gush Etzion, and for security reasons the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Palestinians should be allowed to form a demilitarized (!) state on the rest of the West Bank and Gaza. Later the 2 states may form a loose economic "federation"
14. straight up lies
yoni ,   tel aviv   (05.05.10)
no credibility in this article jstreet is promoting this and then ynet pins it on ALL EU JEWS are there laws against spreading lies in the news????/
15. #1 WELL SAID AND SO TRUE
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (05.05.10)
You took the words out of my mouth .We have no need for "Jewish Intellectuals." We need jews who know how to handle a gun and drive a battle tank .Intellectuals end up in ovens .Also ,they live in Europe ,they do not live here in eretz Israel so they should keep quiet about matters which do not concern them.
16. To quote Nanny Tate
Juan ,   Spain   (05.05.10)
"What a ******* diabolical liberty!"
17. Professor Zeev Sternhell, an orphaned
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (05.05.10)
refugee who came to Israel after escaping from the Nazi death camp system, a former soldier in the IDF and a distinguished professor formerly at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem is one of the signatories. He can hardly be classed as a "self-hating" Jew nor as a traitor. Incidentally, he was the one targetted by Teitel but escaped serious injury and death. I would hope that Readers really reflect on the criticism these people are offering.
18. SO NOW... WHO'S PRESSURING HAMAS FATAH HEZBOLLAH SYRIA
stude ham   (05.05.10)
TO WORK FOR PEACE WITH ISRAEL? HELLLLLLOOOOOOO .... HELLLLLLLOOOOOO...???? bunch of idiots.
19. Euro needs Im Titrtzu
Golan ,   modiin   (05.05.10)
Texas has Bridge Houston and Stand With Us. Israel has Im Tirtzu. Europe now needs something along these lines.
20. Critical Jews vs Fanatical Zionists
Goliath   (05.05.10)
21. going to war without a European Jewish intellectual
Rami   (05.05.10)
...is like going to war without an accordion - no one will miss them.
22. #1 Well said. Leftist loonies call themselves "intellectuals
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.05.10)
It's amusing to see leftist loonies call themselves "intellectuals", while promoting views that would shame a child of normal intelligence. Their vision is of the same pathetic old policies which created almost all Israel's problems in the first place. The true answer is obvious. Massively settle Judea and Samaria and pay Arabs to leave at an increased rate. Arabs are already permanently leaving Judea and Samaria by the tens of thousands annually.
23. The Israelis should decide!
Anna ,   Sweden   (05.05.10)
In any democratic world it should be the country's own citizens who should decide their own fate. What kind of self-righteous attitude are they coming with "we should have a say, EU/US should have a say". No, it's the Israelis and only the Israelis who should have a say of what they want for their own country. Who do they think they are to know better than the Israelis? What reality are they living in? Definately not the Israeli one. It's sickening.
24. J Street Not A Success In USA
Armchair General ,   Wisconsin, USA   (05.05.10)
Anecdotal evidence suggests J Street is not representative of the wider Jewish community here in the USA in any way whatsoever. J Street is basically an establishment organization(e.g. Indyk, Lewis are former US ambassadors to Israel etc.) funded by big money. You might say J Street is the Jewish Bureau of the present administration pushing its point of view. Israel's US ambassador Michael Oren said it best when he said something to the effect that if you're against all policies of all Israeli governments all of the time like J Street, it's hard to say you're pro-Israel. Sternhell is not telling the truth when he says European Jews previously had only the choice to be hawkish or remain silent. On many occasions there have been quotes or interviews in the media by a vocal minority of European Jews critical of Israel. What screams out like bloody murder is correctly identified by #18. Israel is surrounded by genocidal enemies with unlimited people, territory, arms and oil money. Where is the pressure on them for a settlement? An agreement between Israel and Palestinian Arabs is worthless without acceptance by the greater Arab/Islamic world. Hard to believe you'll ever get one entered into in good faith.
25. Let the kapos mind their own business. The nerve to dictate
Jae ,   Lynn US   (05.05.10)
THEY arent living with the 8 mile borders. THEY arent living with a militarized "palestinian" state (you know they will become militarized, its not even a question of "if" but when- 3 months or 3 years) Let these smug wealthy far leftists who are itermarried nd dont give a rats behind about Judaism , at the very least leave their former people in peace. Dont have the added hutzpah to dictate to the Jewish people who are dedicated and proud of their 4000 year history in the land of Israel.
26. Motivated by concern
R ,   Israel   (05.05.10)
"...motivated by concern for State of Israel's wellbeing" It's like when your grandmother makes you wear some really bad outfit cause she is concerned you shouldn't catch cold and then you get beat up at school twice because of it. She really is concerned, but hasn't got a clue about the environment you're in.
27. The Left is weak and misguided.
Zionist ,   Miami   (05.05.10)
28. What "J Street Success"
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (05.05.10)
The Israeli government and U.S. Jews completely ignore J Street so I hope these miserable, apologetic European Jews achieve the same "success."
29. US+EU+leftist Jews can't get Pals to accept Jewish Israel
Sam ,   Canada   (05.05.10)
The problem with the US, EU and leftist Jews is their total inability to get the Palestinians and other Arabs to accept a Jewish-majority state along with a Palestinian-majority state. So, while they make wonderful speeches and essays and know what is good for Israel and all humanity, nobody on the Arab side is listening to them Their voices are just hot air.
30. MISLEADING HEADLINE.''SOME JEWS'' NOT JEWS
....DACON9   (05.05.10)
IN FACT I HAVE INTERVIEWED 13MILLION 80O THOUSAND JEWS THAT DO NOT WANT USA TO PRESSURE ISRAEL. THIS LEAVES A BALANCE OF APPROX 50 WACKO EURO JEWS... ISRAEL I S LEAD BY GD OF ISRAEL NOT WACKO SOCIALIST
