1. Obama is bad for USA foreign policy
ariel New Zealand   (05.06.10)
From the American point of view Obama's flirting with the Palestinians is a matter of embarecement and is couterproductive; It only will make their position unrealistic and peace unachievable.
2. Color me surprised
Eric R. ,   NJ USA   (05.06.10)
That the leftists at the Washington ComPost would dare question their holy Moshiach on anything. It does not change the fact that the paper, like most in the USA, is just a far-left propaganda rag.
3. Pal Workers and Their Incomes are Now Pawns for the PA
Dallas ,   Canada   (05.06.10)
Actually We're Further Away from Two Months Ago - Abbas just signed a new law which will see Pals who work for Israelis go to jail. The economic hardship just uses the Pals as pawns to incite more hatred against Israel. But then again the PA has never had a problem using their own people's welfare as a propaganda weapon.
4. thank you leftist Y. Benhorin for that report
Koftsim   (05.06.10)
thanks! good job leftist mainstream media journo Y. Benhorin
5. WP Publisher is Jewish
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (05.06.10)
6. Obama's Chicago thug tactics didn't even work in Chicago.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
Of those who worked with Obama in his days as a "community organizer" in Chicago, few have anything positive to say about his results. Today he brings his very dubious skills (mostly teleprompter reading) to one of the world's most important offices. Obama is determined to use Chicago thug tactics to pressure Israel into giving away our rights and viability as a state. Israel must rise up in total opposition. Obama's Chicago thug tactics didn't even work in Chicago. We must not let him work his evil plan here. It took us 2,000 years to build Israel. Obama is here today, gone tommorrow.
7. BHO wants to ruin the USA !
Jaacov Baumann   (05.06.10)
If you consider that BHO is probably muslim, you can put together the big picture. ''He who curses Israel will be cursed!'' Many Americans know that - so get up and save your nation ! This is no game, your nation is about to fall !
8. Mr. Editorial, what are you trying to tell us?
David ,   London   (05.06.10)
no pressure on Israel? Pressure both sides? What would Obama pressure the Palestinians for? To withdraw their army from west bank? What does the Pals have to give out when they have ZERO? Have u ever been to west bank? What the hell you are talking about? The peace process had been going on since Oslo in 1993 up untill today and what has happened? Israel has intensified its settlement activities 5 times than it was before Oslo !!! You simply know nothing about this cause that u cant even advise a chicken and you r coming to advise the president of the unites states? Come on .... You better go learn first before you come here to write missleading advices that makes NO single sense at all....
9. Don't pressure Isral with Nukes, but pressure Iran with none
lydia ,   Brisbane   (05.06.10)
10. The Washington Post is a News Paper
Jay ,   NYC   (05.06.10)
Why would a US news paper be telling the President of the USA what to do. You wonder why people believe the media is controls by Jews. Let them write their opinion but it means nothing to Obama. As recent polls show most America Jews and Americans agree with the way he is dealing the peace process. Stop trying to get people on your occupation side.
11. Pressure won't work
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (05.06.10)
I think the only way you change Israel is to force change. By that I mean US, UN, and NATO troops on Israeli soil ending the phenomena of colonization, checkpoints, midnight searches, tanks on their soil, border restrictions amounting to strangulation, and anything else that constitutes occupation. They should have a booming economy, free elections, complete right of return (not that they would actually use it fully). One state, two states, so long as it is completely voluntary, given the advantages and disadvantages of each. Israel is out of control and the rest of the world needs to get it back under control. No more Israel with fluid borders. The borders must be set.
12. Editorial was full of factual erors...
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (05.06.10)
...I corrected the most obvious of them over in their comment section and sent a note of them to their editorial office. It was really quite sad to see the WaPo undermine the President of the United States and his efforts for a fair and just peace agreement. Of course it will make no difference. President Obama is determined that there will be an agreement based on the rule of law.
13. obumma is a megalomaniac that thinks anything will be done
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (05.06.10)
just because he has commanded it so. His incompetency in promising the moon to the muslums has put them in a position where they believe they will get anything they ask for and do not have to negotiate seriously, that obumma will just wave his magic wand and the Jews will do anything he says. He has destroyed any possibility of peace, he is a total failure at diplomacy.
14. What pressure? Not a single $ taken from aid to Israel
Hal   (05.06.10)
Despite the economic downturn which hurt all Americans, Israel still gets billions of tax-payers money from Obama’s Administration.
15. Peace is only a dream
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot, Israel   (05.06.10)
The real path to peace needs to go through the road of Palestinian acceptance of the State of Israel. They are only giving lip service to the peace process. Real acceptance of Israel would consist of ceasing their constant incitement against Israel in their Mosques, media, schools, disbarment of Islamic fundamentalists and changing their “constitution” to delete the destruction of Israel contained within the “constitution”. The Palestinians must stop finding excuses to delay the start of peace talks and must finally agree to face to face talks.
16. The land Israelis inhabit is Israel’s land– historically,...
Ron B. ,   Lod   (05.06.10)
The land Israelis inhabit is Israel’s land– historically, Biblically, internationally and legally. History demands that Israel wake up, stop its internal bickering and incessant dithering, recognize its extraordinary past and patently defend the land it rightly possesses. If Israel does not do so, one day soon there will be more than just a few Arab nations calling for a 'final solution' to the Middle East conflict. Decisions must be made today to defend against future. Indeed, a nation that lacks the will to safeguard its sovereignty will one day simply fail to exist. Israel cannot fail at this crucial juncture; may history guide and protect her footsteps in these perilous times. Alas, no one else is willing. More at : http://xrl.us/otzko
17. Enjoy the Obama show:
shrinkDave ,   miami usa   (05.06.10)
because that's all it is. We all know what will come of it. We all know what they want to do with the Israelis (Jews). The big problem for the world these days is this: Jews don't die so easily for your sins like they used to. How frustrating. Never again.
18. Obama has shown his mind for Islam.(!!!)
Roy C. Hudson ,   USA   (05.06.10)
He has said They are MY People, They are peace loving People, they want to live at peace with all Mid-east in their own Land, Obama Knows better but don't that sound nice to stupid Leaders in this time? It is imposible for the Islam minded people to live at peace even among themselves. That is History in action. Israel Knows they can't trust Obama. The USA will not survive with him as the leader. The reason why we have Obama,The USA has it coming,See who voted Him in, They didn't have a clue the change he had Planned. Mr. Net knows he can't be trusted. The PLO has nothing coming in the Land of Israel. Roy C. Hudson USA
19. Dear David Blind
Ariel New Zealand   (05.06.10)
See what the Palestininas have: 1 billion dolars USA and EU subsidies; 2- Autonomy; 3- 22 Arab countries to go if hey wish so or they look for a better society; 4- the possibility of confederating with Jordan that is a genuine Second Palestinian State holding the largest Palestinian majority of any country; Your patronization of their future is like asking what the gangs in London have? As any free human being the right to choose and the obligation to live with the consequences of 100 years of vilolent behaviour and terrorism.
20. baaaaa he is so transparent ever since
ghostq   (05.06.10)
the NYC car bomb inccident he kiss up to jews, he knows that if jews will withraw their support the other minorities will follow as expected, cause the hispanic law against immigration he "helped" to establish by forcley presuring conservatives in the state and in the parliament, they legislated it just inspit. sad to say but since he got no controll over it he should resign. he did every political mistake in the book, but his tearm teach Amerikans democrachy 1 on 1.
21. to #3 you r 150% right
ghostq   (05.06.10)
the poor me whining is getting realy old even in Arab nations.
22. Obama vs. Rabin
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.06.10)
Mr. Yitzhaq Rabin, Israel's former prime minister and a price of peace proposed in his speech at the Knesset in October 1995 as the contour for a peace agreement: 1. Jerusalem will remain united under Israel's sovereignty 2. The Jordan Valley must be viewed in the widest possible way and it too will remain under Israel's rule 3. Major settlement blocks, e.g. Ariel, Gush Etzion, will become part of Israel's sovereign territory 4. A Palestinian state will not be a regular state. Israel will control border passes and air space and it will be a demilitarized entity These, Mr. Obama, are some principles set out by a person a bit more knowledgeable and experienced than you are. And these principles, Mr. President, corresponds to those set out by Mr. Binjamin Netanjahu, although Netanjahu's style differs from that of Rabin, both being eager to achieve peace while taking realistically the national and security interests of tiny Israel. P.S. I have my doubts that Obama's hostility towards the nation-state of the Jewish people will enable him to think clearly and analyse matters rationally, and this based on both his words and deeds to date.
23. Jay, does anyone that oposes Obama annoy you?
Ariel New Zealand   (05.06.10)
Oposing the wrong is not a choice but a duty. If the press that I think is much more controlled by the Oil Producting Companies and Arab Countries than by jews say something that you like is OK and if not is all a Jewish conspiracy? I don't think that jews need to excuse for resisting the Oil Monopoly and its alliance with fascists, comunists, Muslim fundamentalists, Arab supremacists, and the radical-indecent left; So mature, or go on with whatever you believe is right among these. Go on supporting the persecution of oponents to this evil axis and seeing conspiracies everywhere.
24. Michael, what law are you talking about?
Ariel New Zealand   (05.06.10)
I don't know what law established that Israel has no right to build in Jerusalem. Show me that law and I may change my opinion! This is not a legal issue but a political one; Obama thinks he can apeace the Muslim world by delivering Israel and that is the real issue.
25. Obama's philosophical background is...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.06.10)
...the world view of Rev. Wright. We must not divorce his way of viewing Israel and the hostility with which he deals with the Jewish state without placing his words and activities in this context. He is the result of sitting and listening to the sermons of Rev. Wright for over 20 years...!!
26. Unreasonable Arab Demands
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.06.10)
For one - that Jerusalem is to be the capital of another Arab state. The Arabs full well know that this demand is totally unacceptable to the Jews. So why are thy demand it? Because the Arabs really don't want peace with us. They want to overwhelm us and evict us from this country and the tactic of demanding the impossible is an attempt to make us look unreasonable and obstinate. Create an impossible demand on the other side, wait until he rejects it, and it makes him look bad. Sadly, the Americans can't see through their charade.
27. The reporter seems to have the wisdom which
Vardina   (05.06.10)
Obama lacks....
28. pro Arab
proud Israeli ,   usa pittsburgh   (05.06.10)
You are choked and brain washed by the anti british media against Israel constantly and surounded in your country by Arabs soon England and most of Europe will be in their hands !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
29. Arab demands #26
MIKE ,   Netanya, Israel   (05.06.10)
I agree with 26, in '93 when Arafat wanted to return to the Territories, he did not demand Jerusalem as his capital, he only requested Ramallah, which we agreed to. If he would have asked for Jerusalem from the outset, no one would have let him in all those years back!
30. if Nentanyahu said I am not negotiating
Michael   (05.06.10)
with the Palestinians would Obama give the same response he gave Abbas?! No, Abbas a leader of no state a leader of a people that has suddenly came ito existence on the world arena maybe 40 years ago. Yet he his response to President of the U.S. is ignored. Abbas can decide not to l negotiate, or how he will negotiate(indirect talks) what he wants when he wants it. He can demand to be given a state he never had with a capital thet never had claims to in the first place.Yet israel a 3,000 year old nation can't even think about building in its capital. Just thinking about it was a big insult. Huh?! How can anyone say with a straight face that Obama is even handed let a lone a friend?! It is time for israel to act like the old nation that it is and look to its history to learn how to deal with today. There is a famous saying "history repeats itself" the situations Israel faces today it faced 2,000 years ago in the time of Nehemia the prophet . be strong Israel stand up for yourself for if not you who will?
