2. skipping statistics: no police - no crimes (?)
eporue ,   europe   (05.06.10)
if never a death is investigated, and they dont recognize the police as authority to file complaints, when someone gets threatened or abused, then its no surprise, that the haredim can claim, they dont have much criminal activity within their own lines..
3. Israel Must Exert Control
Christy ,   Boston, US   (05.06.10)
- OR yield to mob rule. No nation should have to tolerate any group of people who riot. The state must get control of all riot situations for the good of all its citizens. I expect the police in my town to enforce the law and deal harshly with rioters. I do not want rioters to ever win, even if I agree with their grievances. Take it to court - get the law changed - sue for damages - but NO riots. As long as Israel allows any group to prevent police officers from carrying out their duties, Israel will not be respected by that group. Mob rule is ugly and law-abiding citizens should not have to put up with rioters. I don't understand why rioters aren't immediately restrained, moved out of the way, and thrown in jail for a few days?? Use of non-lethal force like water cannon, tear gas, etc. should be used to disperse & control the crowds. Police should *Never* yield to rioters. If the rioters can achieve their aims the rioters win and will be encouraged to continue to use riots as a way of forcing the Israeli state to back down. It must be awful to have to live near places where certain groups have a habit of rioting. Lowers the quality of life for the other citizens and must cause anxiety due to the impact Mob Rule would have on ordinary citizens.

I agree with your solution, and agree that we cannot have a theocracy or Mob rule. (lets talk about the Oligarchy another time) Does your solution include Muslims? Notice that I exclude beduines, druze and Christians who are patriotic and serve this country honorably. Does it include our enemies that attack our soldiers and our citizens? This is the root of the lack of respect for law and order, because our soldiers are kicked out of Left Wing cafes in Tel Aviv, and our leaders are afraid to travel to various countries that have arrest orders for our elected officials. IF you really want to fix this problem, then realize that although these fools are problematic, they are only a small small symptom of the greater issue. We need the original Israel back, where if any ENEMY passes gas, he and his family gets eliminated, even if he is hiding in a bowl of rice in China. We need to get primitive again, and start kicking ass. We must act as our enemies do, but with much more brutality, otherwise we will loose our way of life. Unfortunately that is all the world respects, and if they don't then so what? At least we won't have any enemies to give land to, and at least we won't have any Hamastan in the south, and a PLO state in our midst with a leader like Abbas that did his thesis in Holocaust denial.
5. Declare it criminal neglect - and let the parents defend it
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (05.06.10)
If they will not allow the police to prove that it was not murder or criminal neglect then let them go to court over it. Enough of coddling this group who choose not belong to our country.
6. the debauchery of the law in Israel
joe   (05.06.10)
The naturei karta goons are at it again. And, as usual, mob rule prevails. The Jerusalem authority is impotent, the police is impotent, our Govt ? is impotent. And yet they all stick to their anointed positions given to them by "friends", relatives, political's ", and the like. Expertise in the field? Are you kidding, who needs it. We are all Jews, aren't we?.Disgust is a mild comment the article

if you prevent MDA attempting to save a life . I feel sorry for anyone being born into such an abnormal lot.

10. The Mayer's fault....
DovInBeitShemesh ,   Beit Shemesh, Israel   (05.06.10)
This is what happens when a mayor makes it clear that he's partisan and will always support a particular constituency. The Chareidi radical fringe in Beit Shemesh knows that the major will always support chareidim, so why bother being civil? If the mayor would make it clear that despite being Chareidi himself he will support law and order and prosecute criminals of any constituency, the hooligans would know that being chareidi does not exempt from the law.
11. MDA
R ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
If I were MDA, I'd refuse to answer any call in their area.
12. to #8 let me translate cause you didn't understood
ghostq   (05.06.10)
the religous weren't the gov, and death of a child usually comes from unnatural reason the gov wants to investigate but those realy religious don't want investigation cause they got no respect for the law, so in normal regim the gov is responsible to the safty of it's civilians even when it comes to child neglact and child abuse, as we alreasy observe in the ultra orthodox, in other words the fanats in this case r the people not the gov.
13. Stop Blaming Abutbol
Family K ,   BEIT SHEMESH   (05.06.10)
Will the anglos ever stop blaming the Mayor? Is everything his fault? You anglos lost the election (your boy Lerner lost big time) and you have been bad mouthing Abutbol ever since. Under Vaknin there were no Charedi riots? Of course there were Charedi riots yet you blame Abutbol. Things have improved. City is cleaner, greener and better managed. He is trying. But you give Abutbol no credit for all the improvements. He won a big award for better managing Beit Shemesh (1st time Beit Shemesh received the award) but you dont mention that. No gratitude. Of course if Lerner was the Mayor you would be still blaming Abutbol. You anglos blame him for everything.
14. "Respect for the dead" - but no respect for the living
Ari   (05.06.10)
As a religious Jew I could not feel a greater degree of disgust at these Neturei Carta animals. The Chareidi leadership MUST condemn them unreservedly and the Israeli gov't needs to act with a firm hand and an iron fist. The Neture Carta burn Israeli flags, side with terrorists and attack paramedics - how can a group like that be allowed to exist in a Jewish or democratic country? Nothing but thugs and animals.
15. Poor Kid
G.S. ,   USA   (05.06.10)
Everyone is ignoring the real victim. From the day he was born, this poor kid never stood a chance.
16. there is a way to do an autopsy in a 'kosher' manner
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (05.06.10)
When some one dies in circumstances that may indicate foul play, an autopsy is called for. There are methods of doing autopsies in 'kosher' manners, instead of letting possible murderers get away free.
17. we are all MISSING the point
Yehuda   (05.06.10)
This country is (officially) supposed to be a Jewish country, the laws of Jews are from the Torah and the Torah prohibits an autopsy, its NOT the Neturei Kartas rule its the Holy Toras rule. The question remains why the police don't know this by now?
18. Move NK to Gaza.
Tulio ,   Rome   (05.06.10)
19. to #17 the jewish law also prevent
ghostq   (05.06.10)
from another jew to hurt his children and death, and autopcy can prove it was from natural causes and not by ill intention, if the parents r guilty and you r covering for them it makes you as guilty of murder.
20. send the NK cancer to Gaza where they belong
zionist forever   (05.06.10)
These people don't believe Israel has a right to exist and want a palestinian state that is covers Judea & Samaria and Israel in the pre 1967 border and so do the residents of Hamastan. They sing, dance and clap their hands when the siren goes on Yom Hazikaron when we remeber dead soldiers who were mostly jews. Jews do not celebrate their deaths of other jews no matter who they were or how they died. Around the world they reguarly hold demonstrations in Shabbat carrying their banners shouting and screaming. This is not how your supposed to spend Shabbat but these people call themselves orthodox jews. So let them be in Hamastan amongst their own kind where they can all hate the evil zionists together.

22. #4 - I Include Everyone
Christy ,   Boston, US   (05.07.10)
Note that I stated even if I agreed with whatever people were rioting about, I do NOT want Mob Rule. It can lead to chaos and a break down in law and order for the average citizen. Everyone should be treated the same. Except for enemy combatants- that's a whole other issue. I was mainly talking about civil unrest. Attacks on IDF are military. I think they should be answered by the military - military courts, etc. - these are not for the police or for civil courts. Israel should start treating its enemies like they did in the early 1970's. Israel *must* get respect for civil law&order back and also *must* get back the respect she once had around the world militarily = Don't Mess With Israel. As for IDF being kicked out of any café - unless the soldiers are causing problems they should be allowed in wherever other people are. The soldiers should take these café owners to court and sue them. The leftists in the US have tried excluding and insulting US soldiers here in the US. The soldiers, and their friends and family, have not taken this lying down and have used our courts, press, public opinion, etc. to put a stop to discriminatory behavior. (I have family in the US Forces today.)
