1. Deri needs to learn how to do research
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.14.10)
"Deri added that the research should also check haredi spending on supermarket products such as food, baby food, and diapers". This question requires the related question of "How much of this spending comes out of the secular tax-payer's pocket ?"
2. Claryfing
l'Allemand ,   ger   (05.14.10)
As many misconceptions seem to be circulating, a statistics research center could help pouring oil on troubled water.
3. PR wont help much unless.....
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (05.14.10)
The Haredim not only must teach core subjects in their schools [as required by law], they must work and also serve in the armed forces like everybody else. Its as simple as that because this is whats fair and just.
4. Distancing themselves from the extremists would work better
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (05.14.10)
All he has to do is distance his group from from the extremists who break shabbat in order to enforce it. No where in scripture is violence, destruction of property, or carrying and throwing things appropriate behavior during shabbat - and yet these groups do it all the time.
5. in the flickering light of torched waste bins, they pushed..
eporue ,   europe   (05.14.10)
themselves into the center of public attention big time... now, they've got some questions to answer... very normal, imo...
6. No. They need to get a job.
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (05.14.10)
No amount of P.R. can change the fact that the vast majority of the 7aredim are leeches who contribute nothing to the state in which they live, and who only get on the news when: (1) They want something, such as more funding from the State, (2) They riot, trash our cities and assault our security forces, (3) One of their odious practices (e.g. child molestation) comes to light. Yeah, you try burying that with some deft P.R.!
7. when they are the majority we will all leave
JO   (05.14.10)
this country wlll be doomed to poverty and charity donations. to support them. They are not soldiers protecting Israel like they like to justify themself with. Haredim of the past are nothing like the ones we have to day. Then we could be proud. NOw we mourn.
8. PR
Basil ,   Beit Shean   (05.14.10)
Things that are good , decent and with lasting values dont need public relations.
9. I have a better idea
Max   (05.14.10)
Stop taking my money and sending me and my son to the army instead of you and I'll stop hating you.
10. Not PR but a positive change in behavior is required
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.14.10)
Israel is a country fighting for its life. The Haredi world does not contribute either in Defense of the country or in promotion of the Economy its fair share. A transformation of the Haredi world in which more of its people were in the work force, and in which the great share of its young men served in the Army would help Israel enormously. It would also combat the very serious problem of Poverty in the Charedi world. And it would hopefully lead to greater social cohesion in Israel.
11. :: Haredim and their 7th century mentality
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (05.14.10)
The Haredim don't need 'better PR' they need to get jobs and pay taxes, they need to obey civil law and stop rioting over car park opening times etc. They need to stop attacking and killing Palestinians. They need to stop teaching their children to hate Arabs and secular Israelis. They need to stop the rampant child abuse within their niche society. In short the Haredim need to become civilized before they can become useful members of Israeli society.
12. WITH RESPECT ! HAREDIM NEED TO READ KORAN (C.C).
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (05.14.10)
AN TRY TO UNDERSTAND WHERE THEY ARE MAKING MISTAKE. I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE ALL WRONG. BUT I AM SAYING : THEY FORGOT THEIR OWN FAITH.
13. HAREDIM FORGOT WHAT IS THE REAL FAITH OF JUDAISM.
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (05.14.10)
IF I AM POLITICS ; I WISH ALLAH (C.C) TAKES MY LIFE NOW. IF I AM LIEING, I WISH SAME THING. *** I AM NOT SAYING YOU BECOME A MUSLIM. LEARN YOUR FAITH FOR DAMN SAKEEEE.
14. HAREDIM IS THE FUTURE DANGER FOR THE PEACE BETWEEN ISRAEL...
...AND WORLD ,   ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (05.14.10)
IF THEY DONT STOP WHERE THEY GOING IF THEY DONT LOOK FOR THEIR MISTAKES THEY WILL NEVER UNDESRTAND ANYONE. I BELIEVE THEY ARE SERIOUS. BUT THEY ARE MISTAKEN.
15. Rav Deri, you don't need PR just "live and let live"!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (05.14.10)
Secular Jews don't tell the Ultra-Orthodox how ti live their lives but the opposite is not the case. Forcing the secular community to become observant and denying them the right to live the lives they want to will never work and only divides our little country even more. You want Sabbath Observance? Fine, but don't force it on others. Allow busses in non religious areas on the Sabbath and allow trains to run on Shabbat. If a new ward needs to be built in a hospital allow the graves graves to be moved under Haredi supervision and with dignity. Tell those who dance on Memorial Day and burn the Flag of the State of Israel on Independence Day that they are wrong. Tell them to serve in the IDF or do National Service and stop criminals from wearing kippot when they are brought to court to face charges for horrible crimes of violence and extortion! Another good move you could make is to tell Interior Minister Yishai to have a little concern for the human rights of the children of the "illegals" born in Israel and not to behave the way others behaved toward Jews in Europe in days and centuries gone by!
16. They create the bad publicity
Talula ,   Israel   (05.15.10)
They don't need PR, They simply need to get their lazy asses out to work and stop sponging off the rest of us. And if the Hareim ever became the majority - I'd leave my 12hour a day job in high-tech and sponge off the government - just like they do,
17. Haredi.
Refael Vardi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.16.10)
Sure we get a lot of criticism but usually by people who are ignorant and arrogant. There is no need to "get a job", "read the koran", "serve in the idf" unless you want to forsake Medinat Israel.
18. Better PR didn't solve the Pals' probs, won't solve Haredis'
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (05.16.10)
The Palestinians went out and hired great high-priced western experts to mold their PR campaigns. They got great results, but it didn't help them. Why? Well, everybody loves the Pals and hates Israel, but they are nowhere closer to their own state. Will a PR campaign help the haredim? Definitely. Will it solve any of the problems? Of course not. The haredim have to put their men to work. Yes, talk the talmidim chachamim and put them in kolels, but we are supposed to live by parnasa and Torah. Only a few of us are worthy enough to make Torah our parnasa. And, of course, either sherut leumi or army for all charedim including the outstanding chachamim. Deri has to learn out to make chesed part of the formula, not head counts in yeshivot in return for hard cash. PR ain't gonna help you there at all...
19. ATILLA KARAGOZOGLU
Helen Cohan ,   UK   (05.17.10)
WHAT DO YOU EVEN KNOW ABOUT ISRAEL, WHY DO YOU EVEN BOTHER MAKING COMMENTS....DO YOU EVEN KNOW THE ROLE OF HAREDIM...EVEN IF THEY ARE FUTURE DANGER DOESNT REALLY MATTER..MIND YOURE BUSINESS....
20. the haredi don t produce
thinkagain ,   jerusalem israel   (05.22.10)
.Who wants to be like a good cow that gives a shot to his own milk. ? The Haredi produce lots of children, which we jews need urgently to keep the majority over the arabs in Israel.
