i agree with this.. and every option of a new pal-state is spoiled and doomed, as soon as gaza comes into play... egypt neglected this place and so it became what it is... they have to take it back. and its them, who have to bring gaza back to normality... its unfair, and also impossible, to expect israel, officially considered the "arch enemy" to do that. the egyptians get (in talkbacks etc) quite aggressive about their responsibility for gaza... maybe because they know, they will expect even more terrible fights than israel did... i honestly believe, gaza likes israel more than egypt... if people could choose, who to belong to - egypt or israel - what would they say ? when israel was inside gaza, they have done a lot to help gaza on its feet.. egypt never - in all its past ownership of gaza - did do so much (or anything at all) for them. maybe egypt isnt israels "friend", but between "friend" and "enemy" is a looong long way... you (all) often fall into those extreme views ? and further: your PM does everything, to not walk onto this way... I’m sure what is the objective of this article. Yes any government including the Israeli government has to look first for its own national interest. The writer ignores the facts that many Egyptians border guards have been killed on the borders and the number of guards on the border (limited number because of Camp David accord) cannot completely cut the smuggling under the border. Israel created all of this mess don’t blame us blame your government. Egypt now is under constant attack from Arabic media outlet because of the Gaza blockade. Also, regarding the other border, I don’t agree with our government stupid, inhuman and cruel policy of shooting African illegal immigrants on the border to stop them from crossing into Israel. When USA can stop Mexicans from crossing the border or smuggling drugs and weapons, I think we can do the same.

I think we are in agreement: Open up the Rafah border and end the Egyptian blockade on Gaza. Stop shooting African immigrants and instead give them UN refugee right - as Egypt should according to UNHCR regulations.

Because what is seem as obvious to the common folks is misunderstood by the leadership in DC and Jerusalem. Gaza is Egypt. In Arabic Masri is "Egyptian". The name of Hamas spoke person in Gaza is "al-Masri" (The Egyptian). Gaza has many Bedouin Hamulas that came from Egypt and Sinai. As soon as natural connection (broken in 1967) between Egypt and Gaza is re-established - we will move closer to Middle East peace.
