You say that Goldstone spoke truth, so who cares what he did beside it. However you are wrong, since to you, all those allegations have been truth from the begining. Thus Goldstone was just supporting your claims, which in your mind are true on their own merit. To us, those claims are false no matter who says it, and whether or not he was a racist, or a saint, we reject his view on Cast Lead. However to the rest of the world, the strength of the claims of Israeli war crimes rest on his reputation as a judge. Since his reputation is tainted, these claims are weakened, and neutral obeservers will no longer assume by default that ISrael comitted war crimes in the region.

It wiould be funny if it weren't so sad. I have often wondered why 'who the messenger is' always trumps the message; especially in Israel. They refuse to accept any facts not within their narrow 'intellectual' framework. When the facts prove too stubborn, the next avenue is to disparage the messenger. The messenger is labeled as 'leftist', or 'anitsemitic' or a 'self-hating Jew'. Therefore, reality doesn't matter. Finally, when all else fails they attempt a moral equivalence argument: "Well we might have done it but others have either 1) done the same thing or 2)done it worse". (Although they are extremely insulted when one points this out and continually deny any moral equivalence). The end result is that they fail to draw any lessons or realizations from the facts presented but instead irrationally hold on to their myths in the face of all reality. And then wonder why nobody else gives creedence to their opinions. Facts mean nothing. Morality means nothing. Intellectual honesty means nothing. Don't confuse them with reality for they do not wish to believe it. After all, the myth is far more comforting.
