1. haredim, or a travesty on judaism
joe   (05.16.10)
They are allah's curse on the Jews
2. THE HEREDIM CARE MORE FOR THE DEAD...
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.16.10)
I am considered religious and yet I find the behavior of these heredim sick and reprehensible. They care more for the dead than they do for the living. They worry about dead bones being "evacuated". Why don't they worry when live Jewish bones are being evacuated? Even the Torah commands that the living are more important than the dead! These Heredim are like programmed robots. They have NO SOUL.
3. in the wrong place, in the wrong time
observer   (05.16.10)
The authority believed the graves belonged to Jews and put the project on indefinite hold. However, its experts now say the graves may have belonged to pagan worshipers, and they have asked for more time in which to conduct further excavations. The Haredim will not allow the relocation of the graves to occur quietly; only after making big noise. how can be a Jewish state with no mean stream Jewish people, but several sects? at midnight, after Shabat time, there is no justification for Haredim to protest bulldozer work.
4. why not 1,399 years ago
observer   (05.16.10)
Archaeologists have determined the graves belonged to Christians or pagans from the Byzantine period, about 1,400 years ago. Had they said 1,399 years ago, that would have been taken as Jews believe that Muslims are pagans.
5. Haredim = Hamas

6. # 5 - THAT IS SICK!
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.16.10)
I find your comparison of an Islamic terrorist organization which has been responsible for the murder of hundreds of women and children with a Jewish group that is merely vocal and DOES NOT KILL - I find this to be vulgar and discipable and certainly you have no concept of "humanity"!
7. funny
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (05.16.10)
The readers aren't given complete information. Neutral people have pointed out that if the emergency room was built where the Haredim suggest and not on the graves, the emergency room would have twice the number of beds. It would be interesting to know who gets the money for building the emergency room on top of the graves. I guess the Ombudsman will tell us in a few more years.
8. Hundreds of police
Barbara ,   Australia   (05.16.10)
To do what? Remove a grave. When you need that many police to do something so unimportant it sounds like you don't really have control of the population in the first place. What about when it comes time to evacuate the settlements? How is Israel going to evacuate 500,000 settlers? Does Israel have 1,000,000 police?
9. Public welfare conquers haredi protests...?
Tallula ,   Israel   (05.16.10)
Why do I have this feeling that this isn't the entire story? Still chapter 1 is a positive one, and public welfare should come first - without question. Still, I can't stop wondering what chapter 2 holds - what has Bibi promised them? After all, he is in bed with them, they are in the government together - can't see those Loonies stepping aside and keeping quiet for the sake of a few remains over the health of the living.
10. # 6 Not sick
Sagi   (05.16.10)
an exact and apt description of deranged people.
11. #10 from #6 - sick people that claim to be humane
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.16.10)
I see that you have changed your opinion since the previous article that we bumped heads. You were trying to prove how "humanistic" you are. I find your comparison of an Islamic terrorist organization which has been responsible for the murder of hundreds of women and children with a Jewish group that is merely vocal and DOES NOT KILL - I find this to be vulgar and discipable and certainly you have no concept of "humanity"!
12. GO BIBI!
nadav ,   tlv   (05.16.10)
that's why i voted for him! he represents the SECULAR RIGHT, which is the only party that can lead in israel. They are neither tied to internationalist, leftist nor religious-right fanaticism. They make logical, pragmatic decisions inline with zionist goals! BIBI is the Best!
