1. The mayor's decision - BRILLIANT!!!
Talula ,   Israel   (05.17.10)
NOW we are getting somewhere! It's time someone woke up and took valid and firm action against these degenerate good-for-nothing reprobates. I just hope it's not lip service to keep seculars happy, after all, we ARE the ones working to put money in the coffers to pay for the damage.
2. If this is the case.....
Dave   (05.17.10)
why not stop vandalizing the graves?
3. Idiots
Concerned Secular ,   Jerusalem & Tel Aviv   (05.17.10)
We should shut down ALL public services to their neighborhoods. That includes garbage collection, busses and yes, even street lights.
4. I Million Shekels is nothing
Sagi   (05.17.10)
compared to the damage that these people are doing to our society. It is immeasurable and will have an everlasting effect on Israel and Judaism. They will be the downfall of modern day Israel as we know it. Unwittingly they are in cahoots with our arch enemies and the outcome will not be good.
5. Just a thought
Jarmel ,   Australia   (05.17.10)
Maybe if they had jobs they wouldn't be so quick to destroy things paid for by taxes.
6. THE HEREDIM CARE MORE FOR THE DEAD...
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.17.10)
I am considered religious and yet I find the behavior of these heredim sick and reprehensible. They care more for the dead than they do for the living. They worry about dead bones being "evacuated". Why don't they worry when live Jewish bones are being evacuated? Even the Torah commands that the living are more important than the dead! These Heredim are like programmed robots. They have NO SOUL.
7. Call in the military police
Clara ,   Israel   (05.17.10)
They are known for their tough stance - these haredim need to be knocked around a bit by them. Call it practice if anyone says anything : )
8. to #2 hahaha you will make them work
ghostq   (05.17.10)

9. HAREDIM IS NO NEED FOR ISRAEL, ANYMORE ?
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (05.17.10)
10. One rule for one and another of others

11. #2 Every talkback page has its Idiot - Congrats to Dave!!!
Talula ,   Israel   (05.17.10)
Most of us (including God) put life before death - and life is preserved in hospitals and hospitals need to expand. These bones haven’t officially been identified as having any relevance to anyone, let alone a bunch of deranged and violent Haredim. And just so you know, the bones were not tossed out of the grave onto a skip – they were respectfully removed and treated with respect. Which is more than the filthy Haredim are treating their Capital City with at the moment. Are you going to cough up the million shekels worth of damage? Do you even live in that neighborhood – DO YOU EVEN LIVE IN ISRAEL?. Loser! Get lost!
12. Simple Solution / Stop Stereotyping
Hesh   (05.17.10)
Firstly, the Eda Charedit council call for the riots, so sue them for the damages. Arres the vandals and put them in Jail. Having sai that, lets keep it honest, to say Haredim don't contribute to the city finances is wrong, they pay arnona (municapal taxes) like anyone else, and considering religious outnumber secular in Jerusalem, they pay more. Next, stop calling these Haredi demonstrations and classifying all Haredim together - the overwhelming majority abhor rioting and vandalism and violence. Those who are breaking the law are ciminals plain and simple, Haredi criminals, Secular criminals, Arab, russian, who cares, stop blaming an entire segment of Israeli society for a a few criminals - there are hundreds of thousands of Haredim in Israel and a few hundred who act in this criminal way.
13. Send them the bill
Frank ,   Canada   (05.17.10)
The so-called Jews called Haredim must pay the bill: the amount must be taken on the millions they receive from the state.
14. #12 they pay arnona from social benefits!!!! duh!
Israel   (05.17.10)
They contribute NOTHING TO THIS COUNTRY - A BIG FAT NOTHING! They only want to ruin it.
15. Solution-Eliminate Welfare For Haredi Rioters
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (05.17.10)
Make them get a job - that's their worst fear.
16. # 12 Hesh, let me explain
Sagi   (05.17.10)
when an Arab kills a Jew he is a criminal and a terrorist. he is one and not many in the fact that he acted alone but all his fellow Arabs are sympathizers to his act and indeed they rub their hands in glee and joy and thank "God" for producing such a dedicated and passionate person. Likewise the few ultra orthodox who perpetrate these crimes are incited and urged on by their leaders and their mentors and are praised for their deeds, ergo all are to blame.
17. the rejects of the gods.
Samy   (05.17.10)
the muslims have their islamic fundamentalists, we have our haredim. The current rampage costs only one million?. Since it's been going on for months, the total must be in the millions. These thugs are nothing but vandals, outlaws, worthless jews. Their contribution to the jewish faith, to Israel, to Jerusalem was, is and will remain the same liability their fathers were, and their children will be. No wonder no one wants to live or invest in this city. Don't ask me about City Hall --- from one to zero ? double zero.
18. Respect for the Dead
Adam Neira ,   Melbourne, Australia   (05.17.10)
This case is fascinating on many levels. The need for an emergency room in case of attack is mitigated in the event of peace breaking out in the region. This is where the UTJ and Government should be directing their efforts. The dead do not want more unnecessary numbers added to their flock. Any preventative measures by the living to improve this equation would be approved of. The budgetary considerations are important as the State of Israel does not have a bottomless pit of money to allocate for such projects. There are many sites in the Holy Land where the dead have been buried that have been developed since 1948. Apparently 40 billion souls have ever lived on the Planet. As a percentage there must have been about 46 million people who have lived and died in the Holy Land in the last five thousand years. (There is a way for the Thirteenth Article of Faith to be explained.)
19. huh?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (05.17.10)
where else in the world are rioters threatened with increased taxes? the first, and biggest problem is policing - moshe rabbeinu himself appointed policemen and judges for the children of israel. why can't the police arrest and charge these rioters? why are those few who are arrested, released almost immediately, by order of the interior ministry? why? because political considerations overrule legal ones. which is why "religious parties" make for bad religion and politics. perhaps if a handful of these vandals were taught a little torah: "deena de malkhuta deena", they would serve as an example to their friends. unfortunately, it costs more to keep these crazies in prison than to keep them on welfare, so the same poor taxpayers would be stuck with the bill again.
20. Rob Pierre to pay Paul
samy   (05.17.10)
Tom from Toronto: what you telling us is that our lawmakers are not much different from our lawbreakers?. They are both a disgrace. Both are benefitting from the taxpayer's largess and/or stupidity. The lawmaker is getting paid (handsomely) for doing nothing, while his counterpart the lawbreaker is getting paid for doing nothing. Is this why they call it the " milk and honey " country ?
21. # 19 Tom
Sagi   (05.17.10)
They are enacting "dina demalhuta dina" You fail to understand the meaning of this just as most people do. Oh yes, it indeed means respect the law of the land, but that is not all. The intention of this edict was simple. When in a foreign land respect its laws but when in The Land there is only one law to be respected, the law of God and Moses and Torah. So they in effect, from their point of view, are addressing this edict.
