31. Peres offer:Counts for nothing (end)
DT ,   TA Israel   (05.18.10)
32. Peres ??
Harry ,   Oslo Norway   (05.18.10)
Is Peres getting Alzheimers ?
33. Lies, lies, lies... Peres, keep your mouth shut.
sdunc ,   US   (05.18.10)
Do not trust the lying Russians or Syrians. I don't believe Bibi will ever agree to giving up the Golan unless there's a gun to his head. Shame on Ynet for posting this trash.
34. Yes, #29, let's off Peres to the Syrians! haha!
sdunc ,   US   (05.18.10)
Maybe then he's shut his leftist mouth.
35. Rabin was right
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (05.18.10)
Rabin was right when he called Peres an tireless backstabber.
36. Peres the fake PM
mike1947 ,   Raanana ISRAEL   (05.18.10)
I simply do not believe this. End of story. More newspaper spin.
37. Giving away Golan to Syria
Robert Klein ,   Brooklyn, NY, USA   (05.18.10)
History has taught us that appeazers get nothing but scorn for the gifts they offer in return for peace. Mr. Perez, although an admirable person, belongs to a long line of political figures who live in a world of polyanna. It should be obvious to anyone that Assad will never break away from Iran , stop the support of Hezbolla or his allyance with the ressurging Russian Empire brought to us by PUTIN and the KGB. Mr. Peres, please stop your naive approach to a peace deal with Syria.
38. Peres offered, but Assad, as reported in the Hebrew press,
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.18.10)
has already rejected any such offer. So much for Syria's interest in peace with the nation-state of the Jewish people, a people the Arabs refuse to accept as being one thus refusing to accept its nation-state, Israel, right to be, to exist. Is Mr. Barakah Hussein Obama familiar with this reality...??!!
39. Peres should stick to kissing babies
zionist forever   (05.18.10)
I doubt there is any truth in this but somebody needs to remind Peres that the President is a figure head and not a politican. Its for the PM & Knesset to make all political decisions. This senile old fool who wants to be president and PM at the same time should either get out of politics, shut up and write his memoirs like US presidents do. If he doesn't want to do that then how about he goes and has a chat with his partners in crime Rabin & Arafat. As for this fixation that Israel & the US have of Syria breaking ties with Iran in exchange for a treaty that will of course involve the Golan what does it achieve? Iran is the one thats paying Syrias bills and providing them with weapons its not the other way around. Iran can manage just fine without Syria but Syria will be the one with problems if this little relationship ends. Assad wants the Golan, Kineret water, to move 1 million arabs to the Golan American money and of course the standard peace process military aid package. Just think instead of inferior MIGS & T72 tanks Assad will get a nice little present from the US of F16s & Abrams tanks. Let Assad be Irans best buddy it doesn't hurt Israel. Promise him all kinds of rewards in exchange Israel will be loose big time.
40. to #19 from "Canadian"
Arn ,   Yehud   (05.18.10)
Where did you hide your kaffiya? You are about as Canadian as a tent dwelling bedouin. Try another mask.
41. gibberish
Arn ,   Yehud   (05.18.10)
I can't believe Peres even hinted this offer. What you are reading is typical Yediot Ahranot gibberish that is not meant to mean anything or go anywhere. It's just a puddle dressed as a wave.
42. A Better Offer.....
Koose E Mack ,   Brooklyn, USA   (05.18.10)
Assad...here is the final offer. You can kiss our asses in Macy's Window at 12:00 noon!!!
43. to 19 canadian
Barney ,   USA   (05.18.10)
i believe that your view is not that of the canadians atleast as expressed by their actions. canada has much much more in common with the usa. as for asia and russia maybe they do have more in common with iran-things such as human rights abuses, totalitarian govts, etc. having anything in common with iran is not a good thing-just ask the people of iran
44. Can someone please show this bafoon the
Al   (05.18.10)
door. To think that this senile old fool has what to say is mindboggling. Geez are there no capable people out there who can handle this job with a minimum of grace and smarts?
45. fairy tales
David ,   USA, exile   (05.18.10)
Hey guys, News flash! There is going to be NO peace with Syria. Damascus is going to become a ruinous heap. Check Isaiah 17:1. By Sukkot it will all be over! Now let's see if Y-Net will print this. Usually they don't if it contains truth.
46. Who said it?
David ,   USA, exile   (05.18.10)
Let's remember before we jump to conclusions. It was Assad who said Peres said. Assad is a liar. We all know that much.
47. Agree with Assad
George ,   Canada   (05.18.10)
Perez is an experienced Israeli politician .he knows the time is not at the Israeli side . Israel is loosing support world wide. He knows as well the today reward price for offering Golan is not guarantee for tomorrow. what has a price today could become free tomorrow. Syrian are not bad in politics as well and they know this reality, tomorrow they will be in more bargaining position so why rush? By the time being let the 68% Israeli right wings and religious extremist setters enjoy Netanyahoo, Liberman , Ayalon and other Co. hot air statements about, the all mean and super power, Israel.
48. To #4. Agree totally.
USA   (05.18.10)
I always thank God for the Arabs and their firm commitment to hatred of the Jews, because if they were peace loving I doubt we would have much of a country left. Too bad that Egypt's Sadat wasn't as stopid as the other ones.
49. ..Israels version of Neville Chamberlain!
Jay3 ,   Israel   (05.18.10)
Peres disgusts me....he doesnt speak for the ISraeli people....just himself!
50. #19...so called "Canadian"
Malone ,   Hfx   (05.18.10)
If you're a Canadian,I'll eat my shorts...if you are,you certainly don't speak for me.. Funny how immigrants identify themselves as "American" or "Canadian" after they just got off the boat, and the real ones don't.
51. To #19: indeed common moral issues of Iran, Russia,China
Joe ,   Canada   (05.18.10)
You are right these 3 countries agree on common moral issues: they treat dissent gently (see how opponents to the Ayatollahs fare in jails or cemeteries, how Chechen & some journalists enjoy the liberal treatment they get in Russia & how Thibetans & Kirghiz rejoice under the rulers of China). The only problem with your comparison with the West is that the moral standards of the West have fortunately nothing in common with those of your choice model countries which distinguish themselves by the absence of moral standing.
52. #50 you are just a one of the neoconsevative scum bag
Jeff lapointe ,   Canada   (05.18.10)
If you were born in Canada ,that do not give any extra right over the new Canadian immigrants that are carrying the burden of all dirty jobs that left over after rubbish and racist personalities like you, pushing the stagnant Canadian economy forward. You are better to shut up and do not speak on behalf of American just by remembering how they humiliating treat you on border crossing, and by the way 70% of Canadian including me think negatively about the nervous arrogant Yankees.(refer to BBC polls).
53. #52..Jeff lapointe
Malone ,   Hfx   (05.18.10)
Did you actually read what I said? At no time did I claim to speak for the Americans, nor would I claim to speak for anyone other than myself. I think you should brush up on your reading comprehension,Jeff..you're sadly lacking.
54. canadian 19
abraham ,   toronto   (05.18.10)
speak for yourself please. As a Canadian- Israel must never give up the Golan. I dont trust them (and never will)
55. I think it was Peres/Bibi peace test and Assad failed it
leo ,   usa   (05.19.10)
for the rest of the World to see.
56. Peres is only a ceremonial leader
Brod ,   USA   (05.19.10)
He does not speak for Israel. It is the government of Israel and the Nation of Israel that can speak for Israel. What a simplistic view of things. Even if Iran is not an ally and friend of Syria, Syria will continue to be belligerent. Their goal is the destruction of Israel. For those who think that giving the Golan to Syria will make the Syrian Islamist-Jihadists become angels, they are living in fantasyland. Peres is wallowing in fantasy.
57. #19 I think you need to read more about Iran
Ryan ,   Netanya Israel   (08.01.10)
#19 I think you don't have any idea of what goes on in Iran. I would suggest reading more about Iran before speaking out.
