You have to get your history straight. I was 15 in 1967 and I remember the Six Day War very well. Right after the war, Levi Eshkol offered every single piece of the occupied territories back, in exchange for peace. He didn't even exclude Jerusalem from the offer. The Arabs responded with the famous three noes of Khartoum. There were no settlements then. Every serious effort for peace has been stymied by the continued Arab rejection of the State of Israel. The question is, "If there will be no peace, why should Israel give up anything?" Even now, while peace talks have begun, the Palestinians are attempting to boycott Israel, and to have her expelled from the UN. What type of concessions and flexibility from the Palestinians is that? Peace requires TWO serious partners-since 1948, there has only been one-Israel!

In the end, it will not be the borders of the state that ruins negotiations. It will not even be Jerusalem, although that will be a painful issue to resolve. Most importantly, accepting refugees will destroy Israel. It will destroy its Jewish character, and pave the way for an Arab-dominated state that will relegate its Jewish population to the status of second-class citizens, like all non-Muslims are in Arab states. Israel has offered to pay generous compensation to the refugees for their losses, let them accept that and drop the demand of the Right of Return. Only then will there be peace.

Occupied West Bank and Gaza consists of 22% of historic Palestine. They will not give up anymore there must be an exchange. And 4% of the west bank is a huge sacrifice for Palestine.
