1. Ceded Land
Dan ,   Titusville   (05.21.10)
The best news would be if the Palestinians ceded the entire West Bank so thet there may be peace in the Middle East.
2. The land is not
(05.21.10)
3. The land is not Abbas's or the Arabs' in the first place
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.21.10)
The land in question is in dispute, whose future is to be decided based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 of Nov. 1967. All parties to the conflict have agreed that 242 is the basis for a peaceful accommodation of course. And 242 does not mention even once the need to set up an additional state in the region. 242 does not mention even once concepts such as "Palestine", "Palestinians" or a "Palestinian state". 242 does call upon Israel to withdraw its armed forces from "territories", not all of them mind you, to secure and recognized boundaries. This is to be negotiated by the parties that took part in the Six-Day War, Israel and Jordan, Israel and Egypt and Israel and Syria. Thus, it is not for Abbas to offer anything because he is not entitled to do so!
4. EXCEPT: ROCKETS, BOMBS, PA has met its security obligations,
JEWISH DOCTOR ,   NYC USA   (05.21.10)

5. Pali Arabs, S. America welcomes you
oxo ,   USA   (05.21.10)
Palis leave Israel alone. It sits on a miniscule 0.0002% of middle east land (no oil) while the rest of your Arab brethren sit on the remaining 99.9998% and all the oil riches. Instead, do what thousands of your brethren did, move to the lush countries of S. America, forget the hate, deaths, struggle and grind, and live happily with your communities in S. America. Leave tiny Israel alone. Everyone will be happy, especially God.
6. Peace with Palestinians
Harris ,   West Palm Baech, USA   (05.21.10)
If Israel comes to an agreement with Abbas, what happens to Hamas, that controls Gaza? Does Obama envision a peace with the West Bank and a hostile Gaza? I am not sure how that helps Israel, particularly with the possibility of Hamas eventually taking control of the West Bank also, so they can launch missiles deeper into Israel.
7. israel will take advantage
sami ,   palestine   (05.21.10)
when Israel see more flexibility from Palestinian leaders , they will extend the occupation to longer and longer period hoping they can confiscate more land and build more settlements , at the end no land and no country for Palestinians , that is the fact and that is what is going to happen , i was porn in 1968 and I'm 42 now,, that is the real facts i leaned from my 42 years experience living under occupation
8. It all means nothing until Pals say refugees go to Pal state
Sam ,   Canada   (05.21.10)
Discussions on territory mean little if the Palestinians are intent on flooding Israel with refugees. Palestinians can make territorial offers. Big deal. So what? It doesn't count until Palestinians openly and publicly tell the world 2 states for 2 peoples.
9. 4% is Nothing
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (05.21.10)
4% is Nothing and also as a exchange no territorial exchanges at all 4% don't make me laugh http://israelprotect.blogspot.com
10. Abbas may offer double terrirory...
DT ,   TA Israel   (05.21.10)
....and must include all " Right" of Return, renounce all claims to Jeruslem, no return to 1967 borders , cessation of "education of hatred" towards Israel and that is just for starters.
11. ABSOLUTE BS
steve ,   Israel   (05.21.10)
The Palestinians will never give an inch. It is their raison d'etre. This planted rumor is a red herring and the Wall St. Journal took the bait. If the Pals were serious about compromising, they'd have fed this to an Arab media outlet. Now, Israeli bashers will say the Pals made an historic offer and the Israelis rejected it. Any excuse to kill even indirect negotiations.
12. PURE FLUFF FROM THE UNINFORMED
stude ham   (05.21.10)
there is no way that the pa will 'give' anything to the israelis... not even the ink needed to sign an agreement. in fact... these still born meetings died simply because all they were about was israel giving the palis about almost all of israel... with some lands possibly left over for the hamas ... oh wait... hamas is nowhere to be seen in all these phantom talks...

15. Oh, that's funny
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.21.10)
The PA doesn't have any land. It has what Israel very graciously gives it. Abbas really -- REALLY -- needs to remember that.
16. Ain't that nice.
Brad ,   USA   (05.21.10)
Abbas might "double" the offer of "land" for peace with Israel. Abbas would fit right in as a liberal democrat in the U.S. They also offer, and bargain with, things that don't belong to them in the first place. Counter offer: Israel will take 4% of the West Bank, and will also take 96% of the rest of the Middle East. How's that grab ya?
17. Rabin, the Prince of Peace, viewed matters this way:
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.21.10)
1) Jerusalem must remain united under Israel's sovereignty 2) The Jordan Valley, in its widest definition, must remain under Israel's rule 3) Major Jewish settlement blocs will become part of sovereign Israel 4) A Palestinian state will not be as any other state, e.g. Israel must control its border passes and air space and it must remain demilitarized (Rabin's speech at the Knesset, Oct. 1995) Circumstance have since changed for the worse, thus Rabin's liberal approach to reach an accommodation of peaceful coexistence with the Arabs must now be handled with much less of risk taking by Israel. The rise of Iran, the war-of-terror of 2000, the intensification of rocket attacks after 2005's Gaza evacuation are all indications that the Muslim-Arab world are not interested in peace but rather in a stage by stage elimination of Israel, since full scale wars to date have not been able to deliver the "goods".
18. An uninformed opinion
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.21.10)
The track record of the Arabs for the past 62 years has been a straight line. No fulfillment of obligations, no concessions. They do not own any of the land and so the claim that they are giving us anything is absolutely false. We have given them everything they have.
19. Muslims don't own a single inch of Israel & therefore CANNOT
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (05.21.10)
swap anything. Israel cannot surrender one inch of Jewish land - to do so will incur the wrath of G-D who gave Israel to Jews as an everlasting possession. Mentioned repeatedly in the Bible! G-D's Word NEVER changes! G-D is NOT a man to change His mind! There is no such thing as abrogation in the Bible (as there is in the Koran). The Supreme, All-Knowing G-D KNOWS the future! Who would dare to MASSIVELY insult the One Great G-D of the Universe by giving away any part of Israel?
20. Don't divide the land
Rick ,   Houston - USA   (05.21.10)
Who are the Palestinians to tell Israel what land they will give to Israel? Who is Israel to divide the land for peace? The Lord gave the land to Israel, from the Tigris to the Nile in fact. Dividing or negotiating any of this land will bring harsh judgment from God. Israel, get ready to know the Lord!
21. sami
newyorkone   (05.21.10)
You have to get your history straight. I was 15 in 1967 and I remember the Six Day War very well. Right after the war, Levi Eshkol offered every single piece of the occupied territories back, in exchange for peace. He didn't even exclude Jerusalem from the offer. The Arabs responded with the famous three noes of Khartoum. There were no settlements then. Every serious effort for peace has been stymied by the continued Arab rejection of the State of Israel. The question is, "If there will be no peace, why should Israel give up anything?" Even now, while peace talks have begun, the Palestinians are attempting to boycott Israel, and to have her expelled from the UN. What type of concessions and flexibility from the Palestinians is that? Peace requires TWO serious partners-since 1948, there has only been one-Israel!
22. Hahahaha
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (05.21.10)
This is totally hilarious. Maybe Israel should offer the Palis 4% of land where they can huddle and squat, while they wait for their Arab brethren to come and get 'em. Ok, Israel, please throw in 2 months' worth of shakshukah, so the dumba--ses don't just sit there and starve.
23. A Palestinian State?
Ron B. ,   Lod   (05.21.10)
You want that? OK. BUT not in Israel. No way. Not now. Not ever. Put this Arab state in Dubai or Kuwait or Saudi Arabia or Libya or Syria. Make it big. Fill it with the Po' Arab "refugees". And with the Arabs of Gaza and Samaria and Judea (AKA West Bank). And treasonous Arabs who have Israeli citizenship. Build a big fence around it. Let them learn to develop the infrastructure of a state. Or let them destroy themselves, if that's what they prefer. If they ever become civilized, then it's time to consider letting them join the human race. About historical facts : http://xrl.us/be5xdg
24. Refugees
Rellim ,   Ramat Aviv, Israel   (05.21.10)
In the end, it will not be the borders of the state that ruins negotiations. It will not even be Jerusalem, although that will be a painful issue to resolve. In the end, as long as the PA insists that all Palestinian refugees be allowed back into Israel Proper. While in some cases Israel did expel Palestinians from their homes, a large majority of them left of their own accord, fleeing the violence of the war. Moreover, no group has been accorded refugee status as long as they have, most of the Palestinian refugees alive today ever lived in the territory they claim as their home, and it is very difficult to verify if the number of people the PA claims are refugees are actually descended from the original Palestinian refugees. Most importantly, accepting refugees will destroy Israel. It will destroy its Jewish character, and pave the way for an Arab-dominated state that will relegate its Jewish population to the status of second-class citizens, like all non-Muslims are in Arab states. Israel has offered to pay generous compensation to the refugees for their losses, let them accept that and drop the demand of the Right of Return. Only then will there be peace.
25. TO ALL OF YOU
Jew   (05.21.10)
What are you doing to preserve your land? Why in blazes did you allow this PM and others before him to engage in talks for the surrender of your land? Some of you quote UN Resolutions. But why not cite the original documents of the League of Nations Mandate instead, which determined that the Jewish state would rightfully and legally include the present 1967 territory and more. Those agreements are still legal. Writing columns, talkbacks, discussing this with your neighbors, hoping the Arabs will scuttle the deal, or just hoping for the best doesn't do a bit of good. Only effective action matters. Stop the surrender of your land now before it's too late.
26. Gave up 78% already!
Nas ,   USA   (05.21.10)
Occupied West Bank and Gaza consists of 22% of historic Palestine. They will not give up anymore there must be an exchange. And 4% of the west bank is a huge sacrifice for Palestine. They already made the ultimate concession in the 80's to declare a two state solution. Some people need to know their history before spewing off!
27. Abbas sells property that he doesn't own! Does the
J.J. Jacobs ,   Gaithersburg, MD   (05.21.10)
police officer in the White House knows that? No, if he has been "sitting under" Rev. Wright for 20 years and has absorbed the anti-Semitic rantings of this anti-Jewish, anti-White anti-American racist.
28. funny how all these american's preach from their armchairs
Potash Katiftof ,   Safed, Israel   (05.21.10)
I noticed there are lots of folks from the USA here giving very brave statements of how the land is of Israel, and the palestinians should go. But the palestinian side says the same thing and you are 5,000 miles away, they are actually here. I think you should not have a say to mettle in our affairs here if you don't have the balls to live here.
29. G'd will remove terrorist Abbas and this US administration!
Jaacov Baumann   (05.22.10)
''He who curses Israel will be cursed !''
30. #28 Potash - don't be so smug
Richard   (05.22.10)
So you have the balls to live there. So what. You don't even bother to learn your own history. You say that Palestinians say the land is theirs and you're fine with that. You'll let them take it because you don't have the balls to defend what is yours. Learn your own history and then you'll realize that although the Arabs claim the land that does not make it so. History backs the Jews. It has been your land for thousands of years, while Arabs came from Arabia as conquerors, and when the Jews made the desert bloom, they came as workers. UNRWA says that any Arab who claimed only two years of residency in Israel had the right to call himself or herself a refugee. Don't be so dismissive of those abroad who are trying - to no avail it seems - to wake you up of your stupor. And BTW, it's not only history that's on the side of the Jews but also international law. The same countries that are demanding your land signed treaties that legitimize Israel's right to the land.
