31. why now
Maggie   (05.24.10)
The only reason Israel allowed aid into Gaza recently was because of being shamed into it by this arriving flotilla. Also, tellingly, the European Parliament's 15 strong delegation will visit the Palestinian territories between 24-27 May. They have been refused entry to Gaza by Israel, so will enter through Egypt. Wonder who Israel is trying to impress..
32. Disgusting-- Hasbara!
A Beck ,   Texas, USA   (05.24.10)
Hey, why not try to come up with SOME reason for Israel's huge explosion of 08.09, PLUS all of the dead Palestiians (all over Palestine, usually at least one per day) since that time? You put "seige" in quotes, while children, mothers, fathers, are ALL being starved. This piece was completely sickening-- and posted by a person who shows he has NO idea what's going on. Now, go back to your t.v, and ignore the plight of SO many people who happen to be the hosts of this horrid state of war; Israel!
33. we are losing the pr war. were are our word smiths but we mu
ralph   (05.24.10)
still stop this misguided ships of fools. send the supplies elsewere, not in thru israel. change the government in gaza or their government must change its constitution then peace can reign between gaza and israel until then we ow these stupid misguided fools nothing.
34. if you want
nana ,   khan yunis   (05.24.10)
to start the conflict from the missels from gaza (while it s not the truth) so siege can not stop the missles and war on gaza did not stop the missles please try negotiation with hamass or the security of civilians do not deserve to speake you do not fear the missles but the words
35. When they get close...
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.24.10)
arrest them all and hold them in prison with no contact with anyone, including the Red Cross, until Gilad Shalit is released. Take all the goods they are bringing in and distribute them to the brave residents of Sderot and those expelled from Gush Katif. Then blow up their ships. Simple.
36. you harm but your self
naom chomsky ,   egypt   (05.24.10)
why dnt you let food and milk into gaza . give me one reason just one reason ? simpe question needs answer if you have one .
37. 17.5% of Gaza kids are malnourished
Nim Chimpsky   (05.24.10)
Hundreds of thousands of kids are malnourished as a result of Israel's actions. This is shameful barbarism of Israel's part. The flotilla has already shamed Israel into allowing extra supplies into Gaza. The activists involved are heros who, in another century, would have been of the calibre of those honoured at the Garden of the Righteous at Yad Vashem. That humanitarians, human right's workers, aid and development organisations and others dedicated to assisting the weak and vulnerable are now seen as 'enemies of Israel' shows the depths to which Israel has fallen. Trapped in its insular, paranoid, militaristic and messanic echo chamber and hall of mirrors Israel has set itself against the best of humanity. How much further can Israel decend before it erases its own legitimacy?
38. Great Idea - Should Be Done
Christy ,   Boston, US   (05.24.10)
Israel is experiencing bad PR from 'useful idiots' that swallow up all the anti-Israel propaganda coming from much of our Western Media and other elites (like those at the universities). Many of the 'useful idiots' have lots of time on their hands due to either high unemployment or perpetually living off of their respective 'Nanny States'. Some of this time is spent helping to swamp the social media sites, like YouTube, with reinforcing anti-Israel propaganda. Make pictures and interviews of the terror victims available for Israel supporters to use. People who support Israel also frequent social media sites, like YouTube, and would probably use any pictures, stories, and vids. available if they were free to use them. It should be noted that there is a great effort underway by supporters of Israel to counter the lies and propaganda of our Western media. Most of this effort consists of logically laying out the facts. -- Which is good, facts should be used to fight lies. However, pictures and vids. are much more able to capture people's attention. Interviews with terror victims should also be spread around. What about showing video of the truckloads of goods that entered Gaza? Show the goods being delivered and unloaded. Video that proves Gazans aren't starving but are being used as pawns by their leaders would be excellent. (This could be taken secretly.)
39. #36 Naom
David Israel ,   New York,USA   (05.24.10)
Food and milk and many other vital products are being distributed to Gaza daily from Israel. There is no lack of food there. However there are many dying of hunger in the west of Sudan, in Darfur because the Muslim backed Janjawid are stealing the UN aid. Give me one reason just one reason why does Sudan's Omar Al bashir allow such a cruelty? This is a simple question to you that needs a simple answer.
40. Re#2 - I'd be willing to bet ....
Christy ,   Boston, US   (05.24.10)
.. you either don't live in Gaza, or you have 'friends in the right places' if you are in Gaza. In other words, food and medical supplies are available to you and you needn't worry if you'll have any. Suggesting the Gazans forgo food and medical supplies because of your anti-Israel ideology shows you don't care for the ordinary Gazan citizen. I guess you could be one of their leaders, because they don't seem to care for their people either. Israel doesn't *have* to allow anything in. Let supplies come via Egypt. Egypt doesn't want to open up either. It's because of the way the various Gazan leaders have threatened Egypt. Israel is allowing supplies in and you have the nerve to declare they should stop! Tell that to the Gazans who have received the supplies - but make sure it's not in a dark ally. The Gazans have been used, are being used, as pawns by their own people in an ideological war. Too bad it's the ordinary citizens, and not the various leaders who must suffer.
41. Please Reflect
Paul ,   Albuquerque, USA   (05.25.10)
I know the chest thumping feels good and that you can convince your inner circle that what you are doing is right. But from the outside, Israel looks more and more like it no longer represents anything that could be remotely considered idealistic...something to cherish and support. We look at the actions of the blockades, the settlements, the demolitions, the suppression of dissenting voices, and we cry for what Israel is becoming. Your voices are not strong enough to drown out your actions, and public opinion will only worsen.
42. Nowadays, everything comes down to marketing
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (05.27.10)
I've written over and over again, as a talkbacker in Ynet, about the paramount importance of a well planned and smartly implemented Hasbara and about how much a new approach to PR is urgently needed. Israeli political and military elites have underestimated these issues for too long and the result is terrible: over the last 40 years, Israel has lost very much of the international support she used to enjoy from 1948 to 1967, and to be completely honest, one cannot blame exclusively the Arabs for this. Although much has been lost beyond recovery, there's still room for significant improvement in Israel's standing among Western governments and public opinions. Please, PLEASE: there's no lack of good yiddishe kops in Israel, you should put all of them to good use!! Hi-tech weaponry and corageous, well trained hayalim are essential, but you, Israelis, MUST NOT FORGET how important Hasbarah and PR are!! We live in a globalized world, Israel cannot afford to lose friends!!!!
43. Is that all?
John ,   Canada   (05.27.10)
Thats 135 dead over three years, as compared to what...1300 dead in two months? Reap what you sow!
44. 24 Either Israel has disengaged from Gaza or it hasn't
lydia ,   Brisbane   (05.28.10)
If Israel has then it has no business in Gaza waters. If it hasn't then Israel lied and must comply with the Geneva Convention Rules of War and it obligation as trustee to Palestine and it people. Israels duplicity will be it's undoing and Hamas is a legitimate resistance to Israel illegal occupation. As for the 'security wall' hasn't hindered the rockets but Israel can build it sky high, provided it does not infringe on a single inch of Palestinian land ie outside the sovereign border of the declared 'jewish state' as per UNres.181
45. 42Not even Hasbara Can Fool all the people all the time
lydia ,   Brisbane   (05.28.10)
The International support Israel enjoyed was wrapped in the shroud of secrecy. ignorance and lies. The one US veto prevented sanctions being applied to Israels illegal occupation. However, Israel can no longer hide its atrocities, thanks to the media, the video cameras distributed among the Palestinians that captures Israels atrocities as it happens and beams it around the World for all to see. No hasbara can 'spin' such savagery nor convert Israel from the perpetrator to victim.
46. #42..43, LYDIA, - YOU CAN'T FOOL US EITHER !!
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (05.29.10)
YOU ARE A HIRED HAND OF THE ARAB / MUSLIM MAFIA AND ALL YOUR COMMENTS, EMANATE FROM THIS TYRRANICAL GROUP OF THUGS. LYDIA, YOU ONLY FOOL YOURSELF , BECAUSE YOU CANNOT FOOL US !!
47. flotilla to gaza
robyn conlan ,   sydney, australia   (05.30.10)
i have just scanned your article and could only laugh at the so-called 'carnage' wreaked by the palestinians- not because the individuals concerned do not deserve sympathy but because its a pimple compared to the himalyan day-to-day life of living under attack from israel whetheer physical or psychological
