1. EXPLOITING GAY & HAREDI IS GHOST FOLLY POLITICS
BENJAMIN ,   SINGAPORE   (05.23.10)
SURELY THE POLITICAIN COULD SPEND THEIR TIME AND ENERGY IN A PROACTIVE MANNER. TAKING INCREMINTAL STEPS OVER THE GAYS & HAREDIS IS A BREACH TO CAPABLE LEADERSHIP !
2. Homophobia alive and well
Avi ,   Israel   (05.23.10)
As if two young people gunned down in cold blood wasnt enough to satisfy their homophobic tendencies. Well done to Tzipi Livni for standing up for a minority who have been subjected to a hate campaign based on their sexuality the results of which were only to apparent last year in the murderous attack. Livni we are proud of you for your couargeous step and support. In the year 2010 , we are still denied basic human rights which are afforded to others, even though the majoirity of the gay population of Israel are hard working people , tax payers and serving in the army.
3. Livni & Gays-Don't worry Isreal-God's is well aware
LJ ,   USA   (05.23.10)
as to what Livni's mindset is like and she has already been judged and those likeminded peoples with her----remember Sodom & Gammora?. Repent for the time is at hand. Repent and Turn while there is still time. God will protect those who are truely Jews. That you can count on. Even so Come Lord Jesus.
4. A leader we need very badly
Yakov ,   TA   (05.23.10)
The criticism raised is a glaring example of the changes that are needed in Israel. Social modernization, acceptance of diversity and less of a draconian approach to life and law, promulgated by the Ultra-orthodox. Rather than criticism, Ms.Livni should be applauded and supported for her modern and positive leadership. This country can not survive by ignoring the secular majority, and isolating people based upon sexual preference. Further, this country can not expect to continue the progress it has made, by allowing the Ultra-orthodox community to steer life, law and politics. Ms. Livni is a politician, a Jew and a woman who clearly has the good future of this country in mind. It is past time to support her, her views and her message.
5. Please Explain
Nathan ,   Israel / US   (05.23.10)
Avi, Please explain what basic rights homosexuals are lacking in Israel (I am not being sarcastic here, I really do want to know) My personal views towards Homosexuality are more along the lines of ewww, but I believe that your orientation is Non Of MY Business and you SHOULD have the same basic rights as others.
6. Eeech Kadima
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (05.23.10)
Kadima make me want to vomit. At least Likud stands for something even if I don't agree with them. What are these Kadima people? Centrists? Yeah, right, and the Pope is Jewish.
7. Tolerence.
Moshico ,   Jerusalem   (05.23.10)
I think the best political party is one that is tolerant on all fronts and has a status-quo that all people learn to get on with each other. Gay people are not bad and nowadays we see that religious gays are coming out of the closet wanting to live a religious and homosexual lifestyle, if such a lifestyle exists which it seems it can but they have to realize that the street is not the place to act out and the bedroom is. As for Gay Pride, well I can't see what's wrong as long as they don't walk the streets half naked, can't they dress like they would when they work in the office, the school or the factory and show that they are ordinary people like you and me. Haradim are not bad either, but they are causing the man on the street to pay higher taxes when they riot and burn the town down, can't they learn how to protest without spilling innocent Jewish blood all of which they do on Shabbat, Shabbat was given as a day of rest not a day of riot. They have to learn they can't take the law into their own hands, that's why there are laws of the country. They to have to learn to be tolerant that not everyone keeps Shabbat, that gay people do exist even in their communities and this is not Iran, there is freedom for everyone why should their own people live in fear. B"H we now have Nachal Haradi , Haradi soldiers who fight in the Israeli army, and some even work not all sit and learn all day, times are changing. When Jews learn to live together then may be peace would be possible with our Arab neighbors, when Sephardim and Ashkenazim learn how to tolerate each other and not curse each other on the streets. Its about time you look in the mirror and see you not much different to the person next door.
8. RELIGIOUS SOLUTION Vs CONTITUITIONAL RIGHTS :-)
BENJAMIN ,   SINGAPORE   (05.23.10)
EQUALITY OF JEWS OF ALL ORIENTATION SHOULD NOT BE MIXED UP WITH RELIGIOUS IDELOGIES ! GAY & LESBIANS ALSO HAVE CONTITUITIONAL RIGHTS AS VOTERS AND MAY HAVE A SAY ON ISSUES CONCERNING THEIR LIFE AND LIVING. AS FOR THE HAREDIs YOU STAY AWAY IN YOU REALM OF LIFE AND LIVING . BOTH THE RIGHT OF THESE GROUPS HAVE THEIR RIGHT PROTECTED UNDER THE LAW AND CONSTITUITION . BEN SINGAPORE
9. Cool - you can JUST see the top of her pantsuit
Max   (05.23.10)
Black this time, exceptionally.
10. #2
(05.23.10)
Despite all efforts, they still haven't found the murderer because they insist on pinning this on a "mitnahel". Maybe if they looked for the spurned Gay lover the case would be solved. Or is it more important to gain political points than justice for the victims?
11. To #5" Here is your explanation in a nut shell
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (05.23.10)
A boy and a girl walk down the street, stop and passionately kiss. Nothing happens and no one comments. Two boys do this they are jeered at, maybe attacked and possibly arrested (this did happen in Jerusalem a few years ago when a religious person called the police because two boys were making out. In the statement the police demanded from the 17 year old they forced them to open with "I am a homosexual 17 year old male")! So, while I agree with you that everyone should be allowed to live the lifestyle they chose, homophobia is very much alive all over the world and is not restricted to the the religious communities! Very sad! Hate Gay, hate Jews and those who are different!
12. Congradulations to Livni
Yehudi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.23.10)
Mrs Livni is morally correct in supporting gay rights.
13. :) gays are discrminated aginst in Israel :)
ghostq   (05.23.10)
14. Kadima, some party
hanna ,   Tel Aviv   (05.23.10)
Kadima activists, by slamming homos and lesbians ou prove that you are foolis. OR it proves thet you are in line with Ahmadinejad. Some party.
15. Will never vote Kadima due to biometric policy

16. Gays and Lesbians: Last hope for Livni.

17. so boring, there security is is much more important
ghostq   (05.23.10)
and all this bla bla bla for issue that can be solved in 5 minutes, people please keep right prespective, it's as if a fire will started in the house and all people will care is if they remember to return a phone call.
18. Kadima?
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.23.10)
Mrs. Livni seems more concerned with the Achora than the Kadima. Yeech, and fooey on her.
19. to #13 it's a fake post,
ghostq   (05.23.10)
I have no idea if they realy discriminate against cause I don't have enough data, if I had I truly would have say so, I find it flatering though, and ironic that I made someone in that community mad, well you can take a number, sorry if the line is long, that is not my fault.
20. Opportunistic Livni looking for the anti haredi vote
zionist forever   (05.23.10)
The gays of course, the liberals and the secular jews who don't like the haredi. Neither Labor or Likud are haredi bashing or openly embracing the gays. Livni has seen an opening and so has decided to make Kadima a liberal anti haredi party. The haredi would have never voted for Kadima anyway so she doesn't have to worry about loosing their vote. This is just more Livni oportunism. Kadima has nothing to offer which will be good for the country so instead she is making Kadima the party who hate the haredi and there are sadly plenty of people out there who like that idea.
21. Zipi Livn-gays support
I ,   Israel   (05.23.10)
Zippi Livni Are you Lisbian! Only if you are Lisbian you can support these foreign and shameful trends in The holy land, but ---far from being holy people
22. #2 Avi
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.23.10)
Avi, you write: "the gay population of Israel are hard working people , tax payers and serving in the army." That may be so - but homosexuality is still an abomination in the eyes of God (that individual homosexuals do not believe in God does not mean that He does not exist) and he who performs homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of most of mankind!
23. I couldnt care less what your sexual preferences are
Al   (05.23.10)
just dont throw them in my face along with pornography. Its rather ironic that the Gays and Lesbians allow themselves to be used for political fodder at every stage of the way. For a group that wants to pride themselves on their special lifesyle they dont shy away from being political and open to the point of being obnoxious. In effect that is their agenda..somehow or other they would like to make you believe that their public antics of affection should be tolerated and even encouraged. In effect any and all public displays of sexual behaviour be it homosexual and or heterosexual should be discouraged. On my last visit to Israel I was dismayed to see pornographic material openly displayed in the public domain. That is not a sign of an advanced society, nor is the public display of sexual preference. Keep your lusts private or as they say''get a friggin room'

GAYS4 ISRAEL ,   THE FREE WORLD   (05.23.10)
""Avi, Please explain what basic rights homosexuals are lacking in Israel (I am not being sarcastic here, I really do want to know) "" ANSWER : EQUALITY. IT SEEMS LIKE HOMOPHOBES ARE HAPPY WHEN GAYS/LESBIANS ARE SILENT. GEE- WHERE HAVE I HEARD THIS BEFORE ?
25. 7 Moshico , Jerusalem
GAYSFORISRAEL ,   FREE WORLD   (05.23.10)
I have been to gay pride in Jerusalem. Respect will be given to the religious when the religious learn to respect others. I was so embarrassed to bring my friends to Israel to watch HATRED against gays and lesbians.at World Pride 2006 They are correct- the jewish Taliban is alive and well in Jerusalem
26. GLBT issues litmus test - intersexuality
Ben ,   USA   (05.23.10)
For me, the test of a religion's worthiness on queer issues is how they treat the intersexed. Perhaps better known in English-speaking countries as hermaphrodites, these are people with sex characteristics of both sexes. What sorts of rules are they subjected to, as part of their religion? These are people whom the Creator has decided to make both male and female. For intersexed people, you can't claim their attraction for the same sex (homosexuality) or identification with the sex opposite that of their birth (transsexuality) is "all in their head". What do "same" or "opposite" mean when one is literally in the middle between the two opposites? As a result, you can't claim that they are naughty or ignorant sinners for being or loving in a manner that is most authentic for themselves. Not surprisingly, Christianity hardly talks about it, except for a vague reference in the gospel of Matthew about "eunuchs whom God made that way" (as opposed to eunuchs who were made eunuchs by themselves or by others). Hence my lack of respect for Christian anti-queer rantings. Judaism, to its credit, actually discusses intersex conditions in the Talmud. There are actual terms for people with the condition - tumtum and androgynos - meaning slightly different things. Additionally, the word "safek" (doubt) is used in reference to intersex. So traditional Judaism actually gave the intersex issue some thought. However, when I look into this further, it seems an unfortunate mess to me. On the one hand, there are worries expressed in the Talmud about whether the tumtum/androgynos/safek is more like a man, and so should get the benefit of the doubt of being able to perform more mitzvot. Also, the Talmud says such a person should be prohibited from marrying a man, in order to prevent a *possible* (though not definite!) violation of the prohibition against sodomy. Generally, the Talmud seems to advocate treating the intersexed person more like a man than a woman out of those sorts of worries. That may be fine for some intersexed people, who naturally gravitate toward acting and being masculine, but what about the others? What about the intersexed person who feels being more like a woman is a more authentic self-expression? Or the intersexed person who expresses both masculinity and femininity at once, feeling such a manner to be the most authentic self-expression? This, by the way, is why I feel it is wrong to operate on an intersexed infant's or child's body to make them appear more like one sex or the other, if they are perfectly healthy the way they are. The intersexed person is the best judge of their own gender identity (which sex with whom they identify more strongly) and sexual orientation (which sex to whom they are more strongly attracted). To impose a surgery on an intersexed infant and then find out you "got it wrong" because the infant later in life identifies as the opposite sex is horrible. Read the book "As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who Was Raised as a Girl" to find out why (though the protagonist of the book was not intersexed, what happened as a result of his surgery is relevant to the discussion). For this reason, I am disappointed in Orthodox Judaism. I appreciate the Talmud's debate and struggling with all sorts of various issues, but its dealing with intersex people - tumtum/androgynos/safek - I feel is inadequate. This is less of a problem, or not a problem at all, with Conservative Judaism, Reform Judaism, and the other liberal streams, which don't impose such strict rigidity on the intersexed person.

zionist forever   (05.23.10)
Although I personally have got know problems with homosexuals I have never been able to understand the hypocritical gay culture. One day they are saying we are just ordinary men & women like everybody else we are just attracted to members of the same sex so please accept us. Then they want to have these parades to advertise their sexuality. The idea of the parade seems to be saying look I am different. If straight people wanted to have a sexually explicit parade like that to advertise their sexuality it would be considered pronographic and everybody gay rights campaigners included would be condemning the whole thing. Its not politically correct though to say your against the gays having these parades. When they do have the things they think they are more important than everybody else when they demand to hold parades in Jerusalem knowing that that its going to anger the locals who are against homosexuality but they say they deserve to be treated like everybody else so the view of a bunch of anti gay haredi should not be taken into account.
28. addendum
Ben ,   USA   (05.23.10)
Additionally, I feel that transsexuality and homosexuality are related to intersexuality. I think transsexuality and homosexuality are like "intersexuality of the brain" instead of the genitals; e.g., transsexuals', gays', lesbians', and bisexuals' brains have characteristic sex-differentiated features of both sexes. I.e., one part of the brain may be more like that of most women, but another part may be more like that of most men. However, I think homosexual and transsexual people should be careful not to erase intersexed people's identities - homosexuality, transsexuality, and intersexuality are different things. Does it not say "in God's image He created them; male and female He created them"? Thus, God has characteristics that could be regarded as both masculine and feminine. But if each human is created in God's image, doesn't that mean that each of us, even if we are born a statistically normal heterosexual male or heterosexual female with no desire to change sex, has both masculinity and femininity in each of us to varying degrees? Each of us is in the image of God, who is both masculine and feminine.
29. zionist forever
gays4israel ,   free world   (05.23.10)
gays and lesbians are no different than any other group. Just as you have jews on the far left and far right of the political spectrum- we have the same in the gay community. I dont support everything the gays/lesbians community does. Open your eyes- for every 1 who marches- there are 9 others- probably half of them in the closet !
