31. Can we take some "rights" away from Jewish prisoners, too?
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (05.25.10)
Like furloughs for murders? The boy that killed Dennis Roth didn't escape from a locked cell -- he was whisked out of the country by his rich family (and why weren't they prosecuted for anything?) while on a furlough!! Ami Popper, who killed murdered seven family men in a nationalist spree shooting killed one of his own children by reckless illegal (no license) driving on a furlough.
32. GMB #27 our morality is just fine
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.25.10)
Our standard treatment of prisoners is far superior to your country's treatment of POWs. In fact we are being condemned for matching YOUR country's standard. Now who is moral? Who is the depraved people? Look in the mirror
33. The Palestinians won't beg
John R ,   NYC USA   (05.25.10)
Instead of begging they will simply draw international attention to the plight of 8,000 prisoners. Trade Shalit for Marwan Barghutti. He is the only Palestinian who can unite both Palestinian factions for negotiation. Negotiating w/Abbas alone is a waste since Hamas is causing all the trouble. What has your" Bull in a China shop" foreign policy got you? The answer is no peace, a fortress mentality and the title of the single most hated country in the world.Try humility, foreign aid to the Palestinians and a balanced peace plan not predicated on keeping settlements which the entire world considers illegal. I would also stop recycling has bins and crooks as Prime Minister.
34. take away their rights. match them with those of shalit.
ralph   (05.25.10)
what stupid idiotic comments from anti-isreal, anti-semetic posts.
35. #33 - john : barghouti is in the deal already...
eporue ,   europe   (05.25.10)
seems, mashal doesnt want him...
36. Response to #33
John R ,   NYC USA   (05.25.10)
Then release Barghouti as a humanitarian gesture with no precondition. Israel should start to tone down the rhetoric first and start using its brains. The Saudis can deal with Mashal if need be with money and other influence. The embargo on Gaza also needs a more open access to food and medicines ( as a humanitarian gesture with again, no precondition.)Gaza now is pure cesspool of anarchy with the worst radicals gaining power. So much for the collective punishment embargo which realized universal world condemnation and should have been limited to only stopping weapons together w/employing the security fence.

WRONG, Barghouti is not in the deal. He has too much Jewish blood on his hands.

Your knowledge on humanitarian aid from Israel to Gaza is zero. If Israel wouldnt allow food & medicine into Gaza the Gazans would all be dead by now. I suggest you think before you spew your hog wash here.

His name is Gilad Shalit.

If they kill Gilad, all hell will break loose & they know it.

Dorothy do you mean Dennis Roth, the taxi driver? In 2207 while on a 48 hour furlough, Popper was involved in a car accident caused by him. His wife & one of his sons were killed in the accident. His driving license had expired in 1999. He is expected to be released on parole in 2023, after 33 years in prison.
42. Response to #38
John R ,   NYC USA   (05.26.10)
My knowledge of humanitarian and food aid to Gaza is published in a variety of sources from the UN Human Rights commission, the Red Cross, a brief files by doctors without borders before the Israeli High Court, Amnesty International and the Goldstone Report. Israel's stated food policy is "The minimal requirements for sustenance of the Gaza Strip residents are being observed without inflicting a humanitarian disaster.” It has produced low birth rate children and a malnutritian rate equal to Zimbabwe. In Cast Lead every food and water production facility in Gaza was destroyed including the Namar well complex. 95% of their underground aquifer is tainted. Please list your sources which contradict these so I can read them and judge for myself.
43. #41 - yup those two
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (05.26.10)
Why in the world are people in jail for murder getting furloughs? That's what I want to know.
