1. Wonderful ,sahteen!!!!
Salma ,   Palestine   (05.24.10)
If the work in the police will enable us to return to Jaffa, I will think about it :)

john ,   t-a   (05.24.10)
last time you wanted to return to haifa, right? why a change of hearts? mind you - jaffa is a rough place to live ,drugs, crime, etc.... dream on...
3. Sign of progress, but remember...
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (05.24.10)
...that intifada #2 started with a Palestinian police officer suddenly turning on his Israeli partner, Yosef Tabeja z"l, on a joint patrol, and shooting him to death. We Israelis took it as a sign not just of "distrust", but a sign of war. With this one act of murder by a Palestinian officer of the law, we concluded that the Palestinians were simply not interested in a shared concept of law and order. The visit by the Pal police to Jaffa is a confidence building step, but the Palestinians are going to have to go a long way to prove themselves before we put any faith in them to look after our security. Here in Judea there's lots of room for cooperation between the 2 sides - anybody who drives out here and sees the nuts driving really would like to see Israeli-Palestinian police patrols. However, we simply don't trust the Palestinian "police" yet. They have a long way to go to regain our trust.
4. They Should Have Been Arrested Then And There
Yishai Kohen ,   YeshA, Israel   (05.24.10)
Because some of them have certainly been involved in terrorist acts, and they WILL end up taking up arms against us if they haven't yet. We never learn.
5. whomever allowed this must be fired, IMMEDIATELY
Tony   (05.24.10)
This is collaboration with the enemy, plain and simple. Their police is their problem, they must develop their own methods, and most importantly not a single Arab from those occupying Judaea and Samaria should be allowed to step foot anywhere in Israel aside from the territories. Shame on whomever initiated this disgrace.
6. those "police officers" will shoot us in the back
Rehavam ,   Israel   (05.24.10)
this is CREASY.
7. Did they get to visit their former homes?
dave berg ,   usa   (05.24.10)
Some of them probably had homes that were taken during the 1947 war and are now occupied by Jews. Did they get to see their former homes? What a tantalizing visit for people who so obviously love their land and yearn to return home.
8. Well, it is a good beginning
Yossef ,   Rehovot, Israel   (05.24.10)
Next time they will share the same table. And may be say the birkhat hamazon together :) Actually Yusef Azriel, sounds like Yosef Azriel, must be jewish :-]) Salam Salma, how are you ?
9. To the pessimists
Dr D ,   Jerusalem   (05.24.10)
This is the same Police from the PA that safely returned strained Israelis to us. Be nice to them and grateful. Peace is coming small step by small step and hopefully going forward with many more small steps like this one.
10. Community policing needed not army...
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (05.24.10)
Brian Cohen has a valid point about the need for policing at some level, in particular against 'suicidal' drivers (sadly on both sides). However, aside from the horrrific act when PA police turned their weapons on a joint Israeli patrol, another challenge exists as follows: Abbas is denying his people work, the only avenues open are to join the police. Their police has over 50,000 arms. Are they recruiting a 'conventional' police force with added skills to combat their own terrorist cells...or a para-militiary force with a single enemy...Israel? The reports that attempts to get the two police forces to socialize strongly suggests an already identified enemy exists. A community driven police force is an important concept, having another enemy army breathing down our necks...at such close range is something else?,
11. Meal
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (05.24.10)
Let's hope they meet again and the next time really share a meal together.
