1. Crown Heights Riots
leo ,   nyc   (05.26.10)
Almost two decades ago Hassidim were subject to violent riots in Brooklyn and the then Mayor David Dinkins was accused of moving too slowly in quelling them---Israel should know that violence such as this must be quickly and effectively stopped== these rioters disgrace the Jewish religion and no curls and top hats will atone for that!
2. Heredi are a riot! More fun rioting than earning a living!
JEWISHNESS ,   NYC USA   (05.26.10)
Put the stone throwers to work earning a real living instead of leeching and complaining while being carried on the shoulders of others...shame shame shame.
3. They should only...
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.26.10)
So who is going to pay for it this time? Not the rioters, that is for sure! How many of them - if any - spent more than a few hours in the police station? WHEN are we going to start punishing these hooligans??????
4. Violent Anti-Zionists
Lewis ,   Jerusalem   (05.26.10)
Throw them out of Israel
5. Charideem green light to terrror
Avi ,   Israel   (05.26.10)
Obviously these parasites have a green light to riot and endager the loves of the hard working tax paying people of this country, as they know maximum they will be taken in for questioning and then released a few hours later as the goverment gives in to their blackmail every time. All this energy could be put to better use like serving in the IDF and working for a living as they obviously are borde and have to much time on their hands when they are allegedly supposed to be studying and all this paid for by the tax payers. Cut their benefits and withdraw services to their areas untill they learn to behave like human beings.
6. blessed by the Devil
joe   (05.26.10)
Now it's becoming part of the jewish landscape. The Govt should make it part of the international tourist attraction ---- the filth, the garbage, the arson, the beating, the depraved behavior; in essence, god's children. It has the proper attribute, ingredients, for a photo-op to be spread with pride the world over, depicting the incompetence of the police, law and order, and above an inept Govt. incapacity to deal with a modern plague, thugs jewish style -- the haredim of Bnei Brak, of Jerusalem, of more and more, running amok unabated. The envy of islamic fanatics.
7. More proof...
R ,   Jerusalem   (05.26.10)
"The protestors also hurled stones at motorists who attempted to remove burning tires and at residents who gathered in the area to watch the violence." That these idiots don't represent the Ultra-Orthodox community. They're out of control thugs that are comparable to gangs in the US. They have no problem attacking members of their own community that are trying to clean up after them.
8. haredim have nothing better to do
dave ,   uk   (05.26.10)
9. Chareidis were the victims of the riots.
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (05.26.10)
The fact that the police didnt show up for a long time shows that the police dont distinguish between the law abiding chareidim and (men-wearing-hats) charaeidim
10. I hope they tear the place apart
Sagi   (05.26.10)
It is a National disgrace, a disgusting urban area if ever I saw one, and I have seen many.
11. why did they "riot"??
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (05.26.10)
Perhaps ynet could clue us in as to why they ran amok? A bit of detail would be helpful.

marko ,   tel aviv   (05.26.10)
you took the words right out of my mouth
13. Let them destroy their own neighborhoods...
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.26.10)
People. Where are they rioting? In Kikar Rabin? In YOUR neigborhood? No. They are rioting in and destroying THEIR OWN NEIGHBORHOODS. Let them!!! And the city shouldn't fix a thing. Let their wonderful parents and wonderful rabbis control them. They are just as guilty. Let these hooligans know that it is because of THEM there is no trash removal and no traffic lights that endanger their own families. That's the answer to their hooliganism.
14. to #11 "why the riots"
Golan ,   modiin   (05.26.10)
there was a construction in Ashkelon hospital which needed new bomb shelters. So construction began and an ancient grave site was discovered. The Haredim jumped on an opportunity to protest the government The grave site was pagan but the Haredim insisted it was "Jewish" so they could get arrested and increase tensions. Why? Because they are opposed to the Jewish State (these particular groupings) and when they riot they get donations from other anti-Zionist Haredim outside Israel. It also allows their rabbis to flex their political muscles and show the police and government who is really in charge around Israel in religious matters. I recently listened to a lecture by a Haredi Rabbi who said that the Haredi leadership keeps posting orders banning this and banning that... they fight every fight imaginable to the point that no one bothers reading the Bada"tz posters anymore. So these sort of things also makes people of the Haredi faith take notice once in a while to the "war against Zionism." I hope this helped.

Golan ,   modiin   (05.26.10)
if that was true (and I beleive it is) why does the Ultra orthodox community allow them? What actions are the rabbis taking (and which of them?) against this? I had seen a girlfriend banished from Moddin Elite by these thugs, and had my car egged but this "toyras emes scholars" While I do not think they represent the haredi community they DO represent their community. You cannot use the silent majority argument in the face of violence.
16. Crazies
Daniel ,   Jerusalem   (05.26.10)
I am an Orthodox Jew but I am against many of these demonstrations. In Ashkelon a pagan altar was found by the bones, so it is almost for sure that the dead were not Jews. And if they were, well, they were reburied anyway. I think that these crazies care more for a few pagan bones than they care about living Jews. And I also think that if they have no garbage collection in their neighborhoods, they'll think twice about burning the containers.
17. The whole generation wasted
Sharona ,   ASH & IL   (05.26.10)
No proper education to work for a decent job (as they do not teach english, mats and science after 6th standard), feeding on the money of taxpayers (loosting tax money which could have been used for the benefit of the country), no internet, no t.v. so completely disconnetcted from the current world, getting bored by studying tora all the time has turned these people lunatics. Their rabbi and parents are responsbile for wasting this whole generation and making them rioters and thugs. Religion is a good thing but fanatism is bad. All hareidi community should start taking their responsibility in society. Teach normal curriculam in schools, work and feed themselves, do miletary service and observe religion.
18. not from BB
Simon   (05.26.10)
I reckon these guys are not from BB, but were bussed in from bet shemesh or someplace to stir up trouble
19. #18 Simon - COULD BE. BUT NONETHELESS...
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.26.10)
The Heredi world is a small world. The Chasidic world even smaller. Word goes around. They KNOW who these troublemakers are. The trouble-makers do this openly. No faces masked. That they are known within their own world AND NOT STOPPED speaks volumes.
20. Haredim riot in in Bnei Brak
Marianne ,   Leeds UK   (05.26.10)
It's madness. Do so-called "religious" Jews, who think they're better than the rest of the population realise that this behaviour makes others regard them as no better than Muslims? When will the Israeli government stop giving in to their tantrums?
