1. So sad
Alon K. ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.27.10)
That Israeli media makes this a headline. All these left-wing self-hating organizations (like Amnesty International) have a common agenda; appease the Arabs, slander Israel. Where are the reports about Iran, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, China? Why no peep about Rwanda and every other messed up African country (most of them)? What about Venezuela and other backwater holes? Look around dimwits, the rest of the world makes Israeli look like paradise.
2. Amnesty's credibility
DT ,   TA Israel   (05.27.10)
Amnesty is no more than a tool for Arab terror compounded by it's hatred for Israel
3. Amnesty for Gaza, but no amnesty for Shalit-not so
Alan ,   SA   (05.27.10)
4. It is a pity that Amnesty International...
Carsten Schmidt ,   Germany   (05.27.10)
... which used to be a human rights organisations moved to become a political organization with an anti Israel agenda. The low quality of their report which is full of distorted or wrong 'facts', lies and biased assessments discredits their whole work, and that will negatively impact their efforts towards political prisoners, fight against death penalty etc.
5. Amnesty is just another terrorist organization!
slam Egypt you ,   leftist idiots!   (05.27.10)
6. o yeah whatever happened to those 100,000 missing Tamils
Reuven   (05.27.10)
in Sri Lanka? Just wondering, no one seems to be too concerned about between 100 and 300 thousand refugees, at least 70,000 missing, could be 100,000. Well, all the best to Amnesty and the Mainstream Media Journos...
7. Gazans depended on aid 'due to blockade
tiki ,   belgium   (05.27.10)
As usual this is a BS story........When were the people in Gaza's NOT depended on aid????? They are people who will be in 'need for aid' all their life, as long as their 'leaders want it, so they can 'keep them under control. When 'the people of Gaza AND all these 'good doers will understand that....., than the People of Gaza may climb out of their misery! This has NOTHING to do with the 'blockade but with the 'fatalistic state of mind of the People of Gaza, (fed to them by their various leaders), that ONLY 'revanche and the 'dissapearance of Israel will give them a better future
8. Blockade to force Hamas out of power but they were elected
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (05.27.10)
Blockade is wrong on many levels but also needed to control and remove Hamas from power. 52% of Gaza is now refugees from Israel and under international law are citizens of Israel but they are not citizens of any country under Israeli laws. There are two groups of Palestinians, those who still live on their own land (to a degree) and refugees(many who live in concentration camps). Obama is a fool if he thinks any peace deal will happen short of almost total Jewish control, unless he is will to truly force his plan on Israel.
9. A donkey might do the trike, sound like they
ghostq   (05.27.10)
have selective about who is in distress and whos betting on it.
10. UN Sponsored terrorism
Jonny ,   South Africa   (05.27.10)
The UN is the defacto government in Gaza, has been since 1948, even under Egfyption rule. It suits the UN to keep GAZA in this state, huge vested interests. It is not Israel's responsibility to look after Gaza, but to protect its citzens from the attacks by terrorist groups who are sponsored by the UN.
11. Amnesty, like the UN, UNWRA, allah's
joe   (05.27.10)
favorite sons. It pays well.---Children, the elderly?,amnesty you fools. Hamas, their leaders, the arab world as a whole, created this MESS called gaza. The beginning of what you call " Catastrophe " started 1400 years ago. Unabated, it continues today fed with a warped belief, murderous islamic laws, enforced by fanatics. When the day comes and raison prevails, amnesty you will have to find yourself a 'real' job, pull up your sleeves and go to work. Honest work.
12. amnesty: 4 of 5 gazans dependent on aid due to blockade
Yonatan ,   Jerusalem   (05.27.10)
so if there was'nt a blockade the gazans would'nt be dependent on aid? conclusion amnesty is no more than a sickening self-righteous organisation living on the self-imposed suffering of others. hirudineans without conscious without a speck of respect, but still making millions if not billions of dollars simply by deviating from the truth
13. Bloodyscott of Dallas Texas. # 10
Joe   (05.27.10)
Oh!, they were elected? --- So were: Imperial Japan, Hitler's Germany. Mussolini's Italy, and a few other afficionados of "free elections". Mr. Bloody Scott, why don't you offer your services to the state of Texas, for cutting/trimming the lawn at the Alamo...... instead of sending stupid comments to this " Prestigious Jewih paper "
14. #6 - read more before u comment
kuhl blitz ,   Doha / Chennai   (05.27.10)
The Amnesty first priority was the failure of Tamils in Sri Lanka. Then it went heavy on US and Europe on their failures. And then it talked about GAZA. So, it is high time you correct yourself , rather than start blaming the refree
15. Amnesty is irrelevant.
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.27.10)
16. to #14 not real, when it's Israel they run to make report
ghostq   (05.27.10)
in the other cases the pablished it way after the real mass murder occure, Ruwanda only 2.5 years ago, and on tom where is Kongo, there r human slaves there, never heard any report on them as for china, well sometimes amnesty make sometime it don't. on daily basic people in china r evacuated from their homes by the gov. another issue amnesty never adress is the exection, also in the middle east, wonder y. so blaming Israel in war time(cause that was outcome of war and not intentional deed) while millions of others get away with murder is kinda stink from political agenda, and no it's not diverting te numbers r talking louder, very loud, screame even of so call human right abusing while the real victimes die anonimously without any help, if you ask me amnesty should be closed.
17. The Truth Hurts
Resistor   (05.27.10)
"Putting Gaza under siege might not be the best policy, but it is the policy which we decided upon。"We have already lost the PR battle。Alex Fishman, Yediot Aharonot, 27/05/10
18. to #7 one side of the fence is gaza the other
ghostq   (05.27.10)
is Israel it's not realy siege when the border to Israel is closed, which makes me wonder where is Egypt in this report? the Israel closed the borders only from 3 sides, sound like half report.
19. This is a scathing report.
withheld ,   USA   (05.27.10)
As someone sensitive to the plights of Israelis and Palestinians, there has to be an end to this. Compassion from many is felt for both sides. It's really very sad to hear and feel what people are having to go through. There are a lot higher expectations to come from you. This isn't only modern history we're talking about here, it goes back to the ancients and it starts at Genesis. George Mitchell, the current US Mid East envoy, has made many outstanding efforts trying to help in the negotiation process. The trips can be tiresome and he deserves a lot of credit. President Obama is owed a debt of gratitude for delegating authority and giving attention to this land and region that has people desperatly in need of it. We'd love to have our servicemen and servicewomen back home. The UN, the Arab League, the European Union, with particular nations like Russia, Iran, Brazil, China, Japan, Germany, France, England, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt ( if I left any country out in particular, I'm sorry, I'm typing this as it comes) are having impacts on decisions having to be made. It's almost overwhelming. For all the discouraging news, there's encouraging news. I even feel compelled to go and help you. There are those that would say, "you don't even live here". These news reports can practically put you there. The reasons can be strictly humanitarian and of course, faith based.
20. the solution on the silver plate - obama has it...
eporue ,   europe   (05.27.10)
other countries also commit such crimes, and sadly even much worse. when you look at what AI says, then its about the problems an occupation, settlements cause. you all will be out of this, soon, and every security measure will be taken, for israel and palestine... with the next report, we will love you all even much more... :)
21. To 17 Here's another truth that hurts
The Dude   (05.27.10)
That Gaza has opened a new olympic sized swimming pool and has all its restraunts full@ http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=285242 http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2010/05/25/fancy-restaurants-and-olympic-size-pools-what-the-media-won%E2%80%99t-report-about-gaza/
22. WHO WILL SAVE ISRAEL WHEN IT WILL GO DOWN ?
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (05.27.10)
ONE DAY ISRAEL WILL GO DOWN. AND THAT DAY ; no america no russia no turkey no ... no ... will be around to help israel. *** LAST HELP WAS IN WWII.
23. The National Post
Resistor   (05.27.10)
Is the National Post jewish controlled? Is Tom Gross jewish?
24. to #20 some of the places palis call setelments

ghostq   (05.27.10)

26. #20: US Goverment Has No Part In This
emanon ,   USA   (05.27.10)
It is an arab problem, not a problem of the United States government. As such, we do not have a solution. It does not matter who sits in that house on Pennsylvania Avenue in DC, the arabs will continue to hate the Jews and terrorize Israel.
27. And prior to this
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.27.10)
Only 4 out of 5 Egyptians living in Gaza were depended on foreign aid. What a big change. Why is Egypt exempt from this report? Do they not have a border with Gaza. As for international law - well as usual they are lying. There is no such international law that states that any nation must supply anything out of their own borders. Nor is there a single international law that gives the Arabs any legal claim to any of the land west of the Jordan. In fact the exact opposite is the case and nobody in the entire world has ever been able to find such a law.
28. To 23 Well Ma'an news isn't Jewish controlled
The Dude   (05.27.10)
And it's where Tom Gross got his story! It's a Palestinian news agency, and it isn't exactly known for it's sympathy towards Israel. So could you explain me a few things, since even though you might have a problem with National Post, I'm pretty sure you are an avid reader of Ma'an... Why is it a group of people who are poor, starving, and lacking water. Spend a fortune on a building that is truly non-essential, fill it with thousands of liters of water, and I do believe to be an Olympic standard pool it must use FRESH water, not sea water. On an activity that requires massive amounts of energy, i.e. you cannot be a competitive swimmer if you are starving.... So please explain me how exactly can it be the case that the palestinians in Gaza are in such a 'desperate' state but build this luxury? There are two possibilities. 1. They're incompetent with money and spend it on frivolous things. 2. They're liars. Either way, this is an excellent example of how Amnesty is being very selective in what it reports and is obviously not telling the whole story. And it also makes a strong case for ceasing aid to the palestinians. The fact is that many impoverished countries in the world aren't building Olympic sized swimming pools... And the reason why is obvious. It's a huge expenditure, not only initially but continuously maintaining a pool of that size is incredible.
29. Amnesty is respected the world over
Allegra   (06.04.10)
How come people here lose their brain when it comes to checking the actions of their own government? Amnesty International is highly praised and respected in all West countries, while all dictarships critcize it for being biaised. What does it tell about Israel if Israel is criticizing Amnesty too?
