6. what he has done makes Vanunu look like a saint
zionist forever   (05.27.10)
Vanunu sold the details of israels nuclear facilities but they were at least given to a newspaper and it wasn't an attempt to help an enemy. This man is taking advantage of all the secrets that he was allowed access to because he was an MK He gives this information to a terrorist group for the sole purpose of being used to help an enemy learn Israels weak spots so they could be used against us in a war. Stripping him of his citizenship & locking him up isn't enough. Chances are without Israeli citizenship he will probably find himself on the list of Hamas prisoner release demands for Gilad. Legally Israel does have the death penalty but since Eichmans show trial nobody has been executed for any crime. This is treason a crime that most other countries would execute him. Its time for Israel to stop being a soft touch and execute him now. Send a message to the other potential traitoners. Vanunu, Anat Kam they may all have thought twice before they started stealing classified information and give it to others.
7. If he was brace enough to commit crimes against the state,
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.27.10)
he should be brave enough to face the consequences. I have no sympathy for the man and those in his political party who have been acting to undermine the very existence of the nation-state of the Jewish people of which he and his friends are citizens and are equal before the law as all other citizens.
8. Death Penalty
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (05.27.10)
If convicted this rises to the level of the death penalty plus the destruction of his home and the deportation of his entire extended family. A warning to Arabs living in Israel that if they are unhappy with a superior standard of living, abundant food, civil rights, freedom of worship, Democracy, and other advantages of modern life then they hold the responsibility of seeing their entire extended family deported to live under the enlightened administration, enjoying the fullness of life, of any Islamic Government.
9. # 1
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.27.10)
I bet he was paid highly for his services rendered to Hizbollah.
10. In the photo he's giving the Barghouti "high five"

11. I believe Amir Makhoul.
Salma ,   Palestine   (05.27.10)
But what is your aim of amplification this issue?! Do you want to say that Hezbollah defeated "Israel" in 2006, because of Ameer Makhoul, ha!! Do you want to put a black dot on the Palestinian citizens of "Israel"? Remember, You can't cover the sun with a sieve
12. Makhoul and death penalty #8
London guy ,   London   (05.27.10)
Firstly, the "confessions" are invalid as the two men have claimed they were extracted under duress. Secondly, the most obscene talkback I have read in a while calls for the death penalty for him and "the destruction of his home and the deportation of his entire extended family". Let us even assume that the confessions stand up in court and he is convicted, the death penalty is opposed by all decent people over the world - except for many Americans who don't seem to mind executing juveniles and blacks. Secondly, demolishing a home and deporting an "entire extended family" who are of course innocent under the law is no more than a nasty piece of vindictive wishful thinking. On the other hand, American soldiers, it seems, routinely bomb innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan, and so why, I wonder, should ideas of humanity and justice percolate into the swamp-dwellers of Florida.
13. #6 and death penalty
London man ,   London   (05.27.10)
In rather broken English, #6 stated "This is treason a crime that most other countries would execute him." Most other countries? I think you are letting wishful thinking get in the way of reality. Regarding the great hero Vanunu, we all know that Israel has nuclear weapons and just a few days ago documents were published showing how the lovely Mr Peres was trying to sell them to South Africa. In Israel's strategic interest? Nonsense. In Israel's economic interest? Certainly. It is in fact rather amusing, as well as deeply saddening and distressing, to see so many supporters of Israel jumping up and down with glee and calling for the death penalty - before a case has gone to court, before a defence has been heard. As the writer of #3 wrote in a rather puerile headline "Guilty until proven innocent" - that would seem to sum up quite neatly all that is wrong with the benighted country of Israel - you know, the one with flexible and undefined borders, the one where the rule of law is in fact the rule of the ethnic mob.
14. there is no arab justice
Yehoshua ,   Usa   (05.27.10)

He was wronged, pictures of Jews and Arabs protesting his arest, his "messed" house after arrest, ... etc. You can't stop the truth, can you?
17. #11 "Hezbollah" begged like little dogs..
Joe Dempsey ,   Portland, Or.   (05.27.10)
for a cease-fire in 2006 through the crybaby Lebanese President Lahoud, so all Makhoul"s work went to waste. But don't worry, you and they will get another chance to beg for mercy. Nasrallah will do it via video-link, if he's still around.

24. #18 and death penalty
London man ,   London   (05.27.10)
The original poster said "most countries in the world would execute him". Quoting apartheid South Africa as a country which executed people still does not count as "most countries in the world". Or perhaps Israel and apartheid South Africa are most of the world in the mind's of those who love the death penalty. Goldstone signed execution warrants in apartheid South Africa. So, excuse me for asking, but how does that become "under British ruling"? Unless you are suggesting that South AFrica's criminal code was a legacy from the British, in which case, you'd better look at all the Mandate Regulations which the Israeli government and military so conveniently use all the time. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
25. to #24 yeah but not in Israel
ghostq   (05.27.10)
got no death penalty, the only person who was executed was Eichmann, and yes the aparthide in SA is british legacy, the British created it and all the legal gov structur was bound to the british crown no matter how you will look at it, british also executed jews under the mandat in Israel that were suspected of undermining them, and that was without a trile, they even raded houses of Israelis whom was suspected of consiling weapons they forbad from jews to own them, but in the same breath they sold weapons to the arabs. some Jordenian troopers were even under British law when the 1948 started, it's methodicaly destruction. this is a jail the Brits build for jews during the mandat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Latrun-Police-Building.jpg today it's museum, the bullets holes r still in the walles, it's the bigest prison the Brits build for jews in Israel. the other one they build in cyprus. those r facts, pure British destruction.
26. #25 and death penalty
London man ,   London   (05.27.10)
Tell me, is there any nation in the world which you don't hate? Any ethnicity absolved from being the brunt of your perpetual sneering? Any chance that you might be able to write a comment about an article which is to the point? Or are personal attacks and racist drivel your sole purpose in writing here?
27. #25 original question
London man ,   London   (05.27.10)
How do you justify your statement that "most countries in the world would execute traitors? I have read some lovely, charming responses full of hesed verahamim, but not a response which tells me how two countries constitute "most countries in the world" PS How about just answering the question. PPS I am a Brit, so blame me for the empire (even though I was not born and my ancestors were not in the UK), blame me for the mandate (again, I wasn't born yet), blame me for the insurrection in Malaysia, etc ad infinitum - and then try and answer the question.
