1. flotilla
steve ,   bloomington usa   (05.28.10)
watch out for embedded suicide bombers from hamas on board. any explosion will be blammed on the idf
2. I disagree
Mark ,   NYC, USA   (05.28.10)
If you give them an inch they'll take a mile.
3. Very reasonable ideas, it seems indeed...
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (05.28.10)
...the most intelligent move Israel could make in order to defuse the impending PR crisis.
4. Israel sees the Palestinians as a CashCow
lydia ,   Brisbane   (05.28.10)
Israel steals Palestinian land, destroy their crops, uproot trees then Palestinians are forced to buy the Settlers produce. Isreal bombs their Airports then the Palestinians must transit their import/export through Israel at exorbitant prices and at the whim of Israel. Israel bombs the Power Station then the Palestinians must source their power from Israel at the highest tariff prices in the World. The same applies to the deliberate bombing of the only Flour Mill, the Chicken/Egg Farms, the UN warehouses etc Palestinians can stave or buy from their oppressors
5. Dream Thinking Avi Trengo
Av ,   Canada   (05.28.10)
to think that if you just let the skunk go it wont smell anymore. Is this the best that the minds in the media can only come up with anymore as its very repetitive and childish. It would be like letting the mafia alone to do their thing, somehow I just cant see any contribution that would bennifit the World for the better, can U Avi
6. Bad advise
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.28.10)
What we should do is announce that the area is a live fire range and that any vessel that enters will be a target. If they are stupid enough to enter - sink them.
7. send
boris ,   ny, usa   (05.28.10)
boats to the bottom, activists to gaza.
8. Better To Be Strong And Despised
Dan ,   USA   (05.28.10)
Avi Trengo is another person who erroneously believes that by showing good deeds Israel, ie: Jews, will get the world to like us. This may come as a surprise to Tengo, but the majority of the world, including far left liberal jews, likes neither Jews, nor Israel and no matter what wonderful acts are performed by Israelis, they will find another reason to dislike us. So the answer lies in maintaining a strong military, a strong sense of purpose and at least they will begrudgingly respect us.
9. you are wrong. we will/should disengage but not so long as
ralph   (05.28.10)
they fire rockets, and have charter article to destroy israel. those are their choice not ours and we must respond to this fact. were it not or these two small inconvenient facts you left out i'm all for letting them go. let them melt in the heat, i give not a damn, but what to do about these two small items?
10. avi is right
alchemist ,   usa   (05.28.10)
yes he is right, why not let them go. Just surprise the world by allowing the flotilla to go in..
11. exactly... barak is fanning the flames...
eporue ,   euroep   (05.28.10)
whatever attitude of the activists, whether it is bashing, seeking trouble, seeking some action, or seeking support... => your defense ministrys actions are encouraging everyone... this will attract people on ships coming from all around the world... one might be more scared of your defense ministrys logic, then of anyones rockets...
12. 100% right
Y ,   N   (05.28.10)
I totally agree with you except for one thing. This flotilla should be stopped. Its nothing but Hamas- propaganda. But afterwards Israel should leave Gaza completely and put its guns on the border. If Hamas attacks then fire back. Close the border between Israel an Gaza and let the arabs provide for the palis.
13. remember the Altalena
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (05.28.10)
the altalena serves as a precedence for dealing with unwanted ships see: http://www.jewishmag.com/20mag/altalena/altalena.htm they are no better!!
14. I am sailing, I am sailing.....
tiki ,   belgium   (05.28.10)
Mr. Trengo is 100% right, but Israel WILL sail into the trap! By NOT giving those "peace lovers' what they want (international media attention), you 'finish the job in one strike, proof them wrong and expose them for what they are (blind anti Israel international attention seekers affiliated with terrorists). Now it will drag on and on and on, with all the (well known) consequences.
15. Absolute rubbish!
Jenny Wilson ,   LA   (05.28.10)
Allow these media seeking missiles into Gaza and the floodgates will open to anyone and everyone interested in giving currency to a terrorist organization committed to the Jewish State's destruction. And ... if you cannot see that Mr Trengo, then not only are you dumb, but you are blind as well.
16. We've already tried the hands off approach and got kassams
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (05.28.10)
The more hands-off we go with Gaza the more of a threat it becomes, and we don't actually get any better PR from it. The world's opinion of Israel is worse today than it was before the disengagement; that opinion is not based on our actions but on other people's words. The only thing that changes if Israel let's these people in is it loses more power, and it already has a deficit of that, as evidenced by the Israeli soldier being held in Gaza for nearly four years now (another pleasant side-effect of the disengagement).
17. Aid Flotilla
Dave ,   Riveside USA   (05.28.10)
I see nothing wrong with Israel stopping the Flotilla, searching it for weapons and if none are found let them go their way with the aid. But they must take the precautions. There is nothing wrong with that. Hey maybe the Israelis could even feed the activists in front of the world media.
18. Sensible and close the crossing to non Gaza residents
Jonny ,   South Africa   (05.28.10)
Sensible, especially blocking the movemnets of UN officials. Let them live in Egypt. Of course there are the financial implications, one presumes that most of the gaza aid is sourced in Israel (maybe even from the territories). Ditto for the reporters, close the crossing to non Gaza residents. As for the "activists" let them return to wherever on their ships.
19. #4 lydia
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (05.28.10)
Perhaps you did not notice in Down Under, but Hamas shot 8000-10000 rockets at Israel before Operation Case Lead. What did you expect?
20. #1 is Israel going to blow them up
observer   (05.28.10)
A fleet of privately owned Israeli boats will leave the Ashdod and Herzliya marinas in hopes of surprising the European activists Friday at 1 p.m. bloodstained horror!, where is your hasbara?
21. why to deport them cuz they were taken against their will?
observer   (05.28.10)
On June 30 2009, the Spirit of Humanity was towed to Ashdod and the crew was detained pending deportation proceedings. McKinney and the others release was delayed after they refused to sign a document admitting they violated Israel’s blockade. From the Givon immigration detention center in Ramla, Maguire said that "deportation orders aren't appropriate for us, as we were taken to Israel against our will. A challenge to your hasbara!
22. #16, actually Israel hasn't tried that...
Danny   (05.28.10)
Israel has the worst of both worlds which is not to control the territory but have the responsibility as if they are. Israel should cut off all links to Gaza and hermetically seal it from the Israeli side. Nothing in, nothing out. If a ship carries something we are not happy with to Gaza then sink it.
23. Avi Trengo is evidently a moron. ;-)
Zvi   (05.28.10)
Sure. Let ships carry whatever they want into Gaza. The next flotilla will carry Grads.
24. Interesting thought, but.....
Shmuel ,   Merkaz   (05.28.10)
Of course these "humanitarian" media terrorists (who refuse to even take a letter to Gilad Shalit, who apparently isn't "Human" in their eyes) planned this carefully. The ships carry basically innocuous items with just a few innocuous sounding but banned items such as concrete or metal pipes. That way, even if Israel wanted to just inspect and then let them sail in we couldn't. Of course even if Israel wanted to board just to inspect, the media terrorists would throw themselves on the ground in front of the soldiers to stop them from boarding (with the cameras rolling of course) and broadcast it without saying that it was just for inspection purposes.
25. "8 is right
jorge ,   argentina   (05.28.10)
Don´t take care about what media want to show. They´ll attack you always, don´t matter what you do. And whether this flotilla is allowed to pass, hamas will take note of another weak point and other way to smuggle weapons.
26. We should take them
Lioness ,   Israel   (05.28.10)
all as prisoners until Gilad Shalit is released, with the same conditions as Gilad. No Red Cross visits, no family visits and to stay in solitary confinement. I forgot no studying for degrees!
27. 19 Albrecht
lydia ,   Brisbane   (05.28.10)
Perhaps you didn't notice but Israel is in illegal belligerent occupation of Palestinian land. What did you expect? Operation Cast Lead to kill 500 of Hamas resistance, the legitimate rep of the Palestinians, Israel slaughtered and incapacitated 6,000 Palestinian.
28. To # 23: where did you got that idea ?
Avi Trengo   (05.28.10)
Did I wrote anything about "the next Flotilla" ? here is what I wrote - do yourself a favor and next time read before you respond: It's a simple story: These ships carry no weapons. After all, Hamas receives its weapons via Egypt (our friend.) When once every few years we see weapons-smuggling ships, our intelligence services and Navy know how to take care of them quietly. Yet this time we are facing a media ambush aimed at reinforcing Israel's image as an "occupier" in Gaza.
29. These ships carry no weapons.-How do you know this as fact?
(05.28.10)
30. #20 you are urged to be on the ships
better observer   (05.28.10)
