31. to #29
Avi T   (05.28.10)
Weapon is coming from Egypt. btw, where do you think Gaza get it's cash from ? Hint: To pay for smuggled goods(especially weapon) - one has to pay cash. Does it make sense to you that cash is smuggled from Egypt to Gaza and from Gaza to Egypt ? Or maybe the cash is coming from other sources ? something to think about.
32. Avi #28, it is useless to appease
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (05.28.10)
Each time Israel has catered to world opinion and PR in international media in the end it has blown back in our face. Whenever Israel has taken care of its basic interests it has always paid off in the long run. Now it is in Israel's long term interest to stop the ships from reaching Gaza, to begin getting the world used to the idea that they cannot trample on us at will any longer. Despite the expected immediate condemnation of this action, showing determination, stubbornness and disproportionate force is our strongest weapon in the Middle East culture. You know very well that this is what Arabs respect.
33. Hoping for violence
Ronald Tripe   (05.28.10)
As with the majority of "peace activists" these blokes are craving violence. Dollars to donuts, if there is none, they will attempt to provoke violence. This is a propaganda parade. Right now, watching the live feed, is like watching the paint dry on a qassam missile casing.
34. #27 There you go again....
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (05.28.10)
I surely notice that you're an illogical, belligerent, pre-occupied purveyor of Pallywood boo hoo. Palestine is not occupied...consult Dr Jacques Gauthier.... I'll take his word against your rants any day. He's spent 25 years on the LEGAL aspects of this conflict...not religious and not political...yes, that's right, under INTERNATIONAL LAW
35. Not like Exodus reversed
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (05.28.10)
The refugees on the Exodus had nowhere to go these people can return to Turkey or any of the other of countries they came from. The Brits boarded the ships and many refugees were killed i doubt that will happen with the Israeli Navy
36. To Lidia Achmed from Brisbane
So What ,   Jerusalem   (05.28.10)
Yes it is true... those places that were distroyed, were targeted. However it was your brothers with maskes (we call them terrorists) who fired missiles from these stratigic areas, to press Israel to distroy them, and cause PR damage to ourselves (Israel). Your people love war - and treasure death, and that is why they are "suffering" today
37. we let the first ships in
Golan ,   modiin   (05.28.10)
we already let the first ships in. This is a big boat that is headed to Hamastan. And all these "humanitarian" things we allow only help confuse the situation. You do not allow concrete to an enemy that needs it to build bunkers on one hand and shoots rockets at you with the other. Besides the rockets from Gaza were shot BEFORE the disengagement... and at the "Illegal settlement" called Seydeyrot. Stop confusing our friends! Talking to Hamas or allowing these ships in is a mistake. It confuses our fiends and will do nothing to quell our detractors.
38. Israel Sailing into Trap
Yoel ,   Ossining, NY   (05.28.10)
Avi Trengo's article is well thought out and makes good sense. I am of the conservative stripe, and fully agree with this article. A forceable confrontation only reinforces the Exodus analogy; Pals are the underdogs being persecuted by Israef (British). Let them enter Gaza and celebrate. Close off Gaza from Israel. Then let the Pals in Gaza deal with the Egyptians and provide for themselves. If ever Gaza was a failed state, it will surely be one when Israel fully separates. Let these "activists" from around the world support this Gaza entity; they will soon see the situation for themselves and get tired of underwriting this hell hole. The glamor will soon wear off.
39. IN DEMOCRACIES LIKE ISRAEL, THE GOVERNMENT WILL DECIDE !!
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (05.29.10)
I READ THIS ARTICLE AND IT'S IDEAS WITH DEEP INTEREST. IT SEEMED CORRECT AND THE RIGHT THING TO DO TO ALLOW THE SHIPS IN TO GAZA, AND TO LET EVENTS UNRAVEL IN ISRAEL'S POSITIVE FAVOUR. THIS SCENARIO SEEMED VERY NICE, AND VERY NORMAL RATHER THAN RECEIVE THE FORSEEABLE NEGATIVE MEDIA ETC. REACTION. THINGS ARE USUALLY NEVER NORMAL WHEN IT COMES TO MUSLIMS, ARABS, EXTREMISTS, ANTI-SEMITES ETC WHEN IT INVOLVES ISRAEL. HOWEVER, WHICHEVER WAY ISRAEL PLAYS IT, THE NEGATIVE PUBLICITY WILL BE THERE IN EITHER SCENARIO, NO MATTER WHAT ISRAEL DOES. IF THE SHIPS ARE ALLOWED INTO GAZA, THERE WILL BE CELEBRATIONS OF " GOOD TRIUMPHING OVER EVIL", " FREEDOM OVER INTOLERANCE ", AND THE " APARTHEID " STATE OF ISRAEL WAS MORALLY DEFEATED BY THIS FLOTILLA OF " BROTHERLY LOVE ". I BELIEVE THAT ISRAEL'S ENEMIES WILL NOT BE SATISFIED NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS. I BELIEVE IT IS BEST THAT THE DECISIONS ARE TO BE MADE BY THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT TO DO WHAT IT CONSIDERS BEST.......... THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED GOVERNMENTS DO IN A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY LIKE ISRAEL.
40. 34 I'll take the word of the 195UN members
lydia ,   Brisbane   (05.29.10)
who says Israel is illegally and belligerent in occupation of Palestine over your one Jacques Gauthier any day. and I definitely wouldn't take any article on IsraelNational news as gospel. Gauthier calls for a are referendum to determine Jerusalem future. Ahmadinejad also demans a referendum and he thought all the Palestinian stake holders/refugees should have a vote.
41. We're damned if we do and damned
(05.29.10)
if we don't. Blow the f---ing things out of the water and have done with it!
42. I have a better idea:
Haifa granny   (05.29.10)
Let them in. We are being accused of a siege, a blockade, so let's do it. Let them dock, and at the same time, close off the Gaza Strip hermetically. Nothing in, nothing out. Fuel? Let the Europeans bring it in in little bottles. Electricity? Let the Turkish package it like Turkish Delight and ship it in. The Erez Crossing, the famous "humanitarian issues?" Their problem not ours, let them go to Greece for medical treatment. They want to go to hospitals in Jordan? Fine, let the British fly them from Cyprus back and forth. Close off the Gaza Strip, throw away the key, not our problem any more.
43. Absolutely right.
Nathan Rai ,   Bangalore   (05.30.10)
Absolutely right. Disengage completely. Those jihadi cartoons deserve some Sharia. And the best part is the last. Any attack will be treated as a declaration of war and the territory will be conquered. So true desengagement to no more Gaza should be done in about 5 days.
44. Pacem in Terris-----Peace on Earth
Lorry ,   Israel   (05.30.10)
We live in an age where men have accomplished magnificent things and have made advances, an age in which man embarks upon the exploration of the stars. Yet, on our own planet we continue to act like barbarians. Like barbarians we continue to fear our neighbors on this earth, we arm them and they arm against us with weapons of hatred, propaganda and the possibility of a nuclear war. What a dangerous game of chess we all play. If only all the wasted energy that is used for the benefit of hatred could be converted to the same amount of energy reused to share our expertise in all fields and make certain that life is to remain on earth.............then and only then could all these talk pages be welcomed as an instrument of justice and encouragement. Perhaps like other ideologists, I am naive in my hopes and prayers. I recognize that we are only human beings after all but the time has come when when manipulations that lack any true aspect of peace for our world must be halted if man is to survive. This terrible war of words must stop, the cry must resound..........."Let us use our precious time to heal all wounds and demand the right of life!
45. another PR disaster
frank ,   Israel   (05.30.10)
here we go again, not responding...the author thinks it is a good idea to let this go by. Sure, why not, let yet another incursion on our land go unanswered. Weak again, and more rockets, weak again and more terror....I would like to see what Iran or Turkey would do with a Peace flotilla to the Kurds...why not do that, have a humanitarian flotilla to Kurdistan and to the Basque country....now what do you think france and spain would say...I know, what about humanitarian aid to the American indians! yeah the US would of course allow this just as the Iranians and turks would....but we must? I don't get it, are we not a free and independent nation? do we not have elected officials who are sworn to protect us (when they are not filling their pockets that is). this should be seen as a direct provocation and frankly an invasion. The fact they may or may not be armed does not make it any less an invasion. Do we or don't we have the right to defend ourselves? If yes than we SHOULD already and let the rest of the world be damned. oh, and #44 you really are not only naive but sort of dumb.....why not offer the arabs ponies this is sure to foster peace, who can say no to a cute pony.?????!!!! and a big shanti to you.....
46. 45 "right to defend ourselves?" On someone else land?
lydia ,   Brisbane   (05.31.10)
"Are we not a free and independent nation?" Only within the confines of the jewish state and its sovereign borders (UN 181)NOT on Arab land! The Palestinians on the other hand as victim of Israels oppression have a right to resit Israel illegal occupation.
47. At first I agreed but exposion would be worse if they land
Esther ,   Netherlands   (05.31.10)
This morning the scene has changed, but it still is important to think about the scenario if the activists would have landed with their goods and cameras: 1. the world would see Gazans hoarding and devouring the food as if they had not eaten for days and blaming Israel, not Egypt for closing the borders; 2. the world would hear interviews with Gazans crying (Pallywood actors know how to inflect their voices better than staunch Israelis) and complaining of how unbearable their lives are under Israeli control, of course not about Egypt's siege; 3. the journalists lap this up gladly and will add their own commentaries which are already very critical of Israel; 4 Said commentaries will be focused on the apartheid state Israel 4. no word will be spoken (of course) about the ongoing terror and also of course about the Gazans' violation of every international treaty by holding Shalitt without contact with the outside world. Israel is damned if it does and damned if it doesn't.
48.  international community's hope
james ,   london UK   (05.31.10)
As part of international community, I am very sad to hear that At least 10 activists killed as Israel Navy opens fire on Gaza aid flotilla. your navy soldier make me sick. we ( indonesian community from sabang untill merauke ) condemn Israel Navy and IDF. do you know that an Amnesty International report on the situation in Gaza. Four out of five Gaza residents need humanitarian assistance. Hundreds are waiting to the point of embarrassment to be allowed out for medical treatment, and 28 already have died. and we, as part of international community, have to take responsible to give aid with our best to prevent humanitarian disaster / crisis in gaza. if you still have clean heart and sane mind you should join with humanitarian activist to prevent humanitarian disaster / crisis in gaza and fight against Israel Navy's brutality.
49. inhumanity!!!!!!!!
anti-zionist israel ,   turkey   (05.31.10)
if you israelis dont know what is going on, then look at the operation videos in which you'll see the violence of so-called israei defence soldiers(actually barbarians). IHH initiating this orgaization has declared many times that they dont carry weapon even a knife in that ship. in additon, this is for your lier gov't members. if there is no need for any humanitarian aid to GAZA,then why the reportsof international institution say different regarding PALESTÄ°NÄ°ANS in GAZA. if u want to understand the situation in GAZA, look at GOOGLE EARTH and have a close look. you'll see the difference.
50. NATO>Israel
Soto ,   New York City   (06.01.10)
A better idea would be to end all US aid to Israel right before we send a combined NATO fleet to escort the next aid Flotilla to Gaza. You may have the balls to attack an unarmed NATO member, let us see you attack an armada of NATO members.
51. #46..IT'S LYDIA REPORTING FROM OCCUPIED ABORIGINE LAND !!
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (06.07.10)
AND LYDIA IS GIVING ISRAEL ADVICE, LOT OF NERVE OR PLAIN STUPIDITY. ISRAEL HAS A LONG HISTORY, THOUSANDS OF YEARS IN THEIR OWN LAND. LYDIA....... YOU ARE THE MORE RECENT AGGRESSORS AGAINST THE ABORIJINES OF " AUSTRALIA " AND YOU STOLE THEIR LAND AND KILLED THEIR CULTURE. LYDIA, IS GUILTY OF CULTURAL GENOCIDE.
