1. Proud
Ben ,   Toronto, Ontario   (05.29.10)
Toronto has always made me feel proud to be a Jew, now more than ever. I invite everyone to come and enjoy my city.
2. Israel, Canada supports you!

3. We are here open to all religion, not just for jews.
George ,   Canada   (05.30.10)
I wish Toronto made you a proud Canadian first them a Jew, or as usual the loyalty is first for Israel then for Canada what is left.
4. "None is too many"
Michael ,   Paris   (05.30.10)
Remember that immigration policy? Canada still a bigot hypocritical society. Jews no longer an issue in a country where "visible minorities" will be the majority soon and where most Jews became so "white" they forgot their no so distant roots. A lot of institutions still antisemitic: some clubs, some self regulated business organizations (investment dealers), some industries (oil).
5. The loss of over 40K Montreal Jews to Toronto made Toronto
Al   (05.30.10)
When the PQ seperatist party (Rene Ladreck) came to power in Quebec in 1976 thet was the beginning of the end of the Montreal Jewish community. 40K Jews left for Toronto and they in effect built the town. That gave the Toronto Jews a reason to stay Jewish..They were on a fast road to assimilation at the time. Their gain was our loss here in Montreal. Today the Montreal Jewish Community is poorer older and a minority within a minority. Were it not for the sephardim and the hassidim we wouldnt have a minyan nor would we have a kosher restaurant. I am afraid we'll end up like the Jewish community in Halifax..small and insignificant. A cultural oddity.
6. #5 come to Israel !
Barak ,   Negev Israel   (05.30.10)
7. 5#, Al, Montreal was great in the 1960's and 1970's
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (05.30.10)
Growing up in Ottawa I would often spend weekends as a child visiting my aunts in Westmount. On Shabbat we went to synagogue and my aunts also took me to the great delis. The Montreal Expos still played outside and their star was Rusty Staub. The Montreal Canadiens with Beliveau, Richard and later the Mahovilich brothers and Guy Lafleur were the best.. Those were the days. Now the Montreal Jewish community is nothing like before and I would much rather live in Israel than Toronto. Al, hopefully soon you come join us in Israel.
