PSALMS 83 IS UPON US - AND IRAN HAS A CHOICE....It does not have to happen ... Will Iran make the correct choice....?

What would Israel do if Iran positioned three nuclear subs off the Israeli coast? Should Iran do differently?

Oy vay, spare us the horribly low caliber of journalism: "...was quoted as telling an Israeli newspaper..." Which newspaper? This is such a simply basic journalism practice that YNET should not even report this, or should report that the Times couldn't even get their attribution correct. What, even publicly reported "news" is now some secret source? "A Navy officer was quoted as saying..." - Nu? Which paper and when was the report run? This is such an easy fact to report, that it makes either the Times of Ynet look suspicious for NOT reporting it. Rumor and innuendo are NOT news. Crikey, the internet has trashed our standards of journalism!

Well, at least it seems, Germany has taken the choice... by building dem nice, quiet subs and giving them to Israel, which I find a particularly important matter. Makes my day. Those fish are more sophisticated and advanced than those of our own Navy, and our cold war relicts are reknown for being quality products until today. (If I am right, it's the same class, small and nasty. The 212-A is a follow-up model). Reading this caused in me a rare moment, when I was overwhelmend with proudness, and that is truly as rare as hens' teeth, I am no nationalist or something.

michael ,   Zurich, switzerland   (05.30.10)
When ambivalently-atomic subs are deployed it's all about strategy, not tactics. 1.) Tactically it makes no sense to put subs into the Gulf because Hesbollah is operating Scuds in Syria. 2.) If the Syrians gives Hesbollah a plot of land in Syria they give the Israelis a chance to punish Syria without punishing Syria. Put one and two together. The whole thing is about the Iranian ambivalently-atomic bomb (notice the symmetry!). Either to get the seriousness across or to bomb Iran right away.
10. #6 Bravo. Someone with brains at last. This is so funny that
Peter ,   Vienna-Austria   (05.30.10)
Any sane person would realize that : 1- Its from the Sunday times,so not at all a reliable source. 2- Such operations(unless your the US of course) requires strict Stealth measures. The fact that it made it to the media explains how rubbish this report is. Subs are not ordinary sea vessels. They are meant to surprise the enemy so they should be kept off the hook of any report. The report is so absurd, that the reporter has also mentioned the name of an israeli officer and made an interview with him and guess what, the guy has provided information that are supposed to be secret to the MR REPORTER. Now you can tell the difference of people with brains(such as no.6 ) and people lacking them (such as #7 and # 2).
11. Even if True
Mark ,   Netherlands   (05.30.10)
Even if this statement is true, what does Israel gain by announcing it? The fact that its being reported by the Sunday Times, says a lot.
12. Misleading Headline!!!!
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston-USA   (05.30.10)
Nuclear subs are nuclear powered. The German made subs are not nuclear powered. They use batteries underwater or snorkel using diesels. They have to snorkel to recharge batteries. That makes noise. Nuclear powered subs can stay underwater for months and don't run diesel engines for as long as food exists aboard. Iran has subs, too. And they, too are diesel & battery subs.

It's, of course, always safe not to trust the Times, but they might have had luck. What matters is whether you are capable to find a sub. If not, it remains secret with all the concomitant repercusions. So the Times might be right for a change although we may safely assume that the finer points of the story and the role it is playing itself eludes them. But then again, that's nothing special for the Times, neither with or without the internet.
15. The GERMANS seem to have a very

long time ago acquired stealth capabilities. They are far more advanced than any nation on earth at this point. The USA is at least 50 years behind in comparison to German technology. The REAL secret is that Israel also has UFOs. NOW this is a secret I should not reveal.
16. #8- let pray these subs will not have to be used
Psalms83 ,   Selah   (05.30.10)
.....but I am afraid they will...because of the arogance and hatred they have toward Israel...G-d did not bring his people back to the land only to be destroryed by a despot regime... the choice belongs to Iran and its minions...

The subs are capable of firing nuclear warheads and the diesel-engines will be detected but not localized. Instead of crying "wolf" the Iranians are now in a position to admit that they can't shoot this things down. That's not really an attractive prospect. The Israelis have won this round. Even if there are no subs in the Gulf (but why not?) they can always send some at the exact time of their choosing. For reasons I have already mentioned they most likely do what's written in the news and they do it rather sooner than later.
19. #15 Israeli 2
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (05.30.10)
The German submarines are indeed very advanced. In a 2001 manoeuvre, the German U 24 managed to sink the USS Enterprise, which the American Captain felt somewhat unpleasant.

you forgot to mention at what time they will arrive. How stupid can one be, to believe in this? I'm sure the iranian leadership is now trembling in fear!!!!!!
22. Deterrence is no substitute for action...
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (05.30.10)
Irans illegal nuclear installations MUST be taken out preemptively... Deterrence is still NOT needed, now it is the time for ACTION...
23. Just more anti Israeli NPT nonsense
Steve from Raleigh   (05.30.10)
This is just more smears to attack Israel in the name of Obama's refusal to support Israel at the NPT conference. Heck the story probably comes form the White House.

Unfortunately, I could not find an English article about this incident (probably the Americans thought that this is nothing to boast with). http://www.abendblatt.de/politik/ausland/article483581/Das-Zielfoto-das-einen-US-Admiral-wuetend-machte.html

if israel already modified those subs with much higher and sophisticated equipment and technology. by now it's probably untracable and makes no noize à la "red october" ;-)
28. #10 Herr Peter...your analysis is always very
Rich from Boston ,   Boston USA   (05.30.10)
funny and entertaining and always makes me laugh. We're watching a chess game unfold before our eyes. A political and military game. As Iran and Syria position their game pieces so too does Israel and the US. The submarines military role is to guarantee second strike capabilities. In this case, Israel is very publicly announcing the sustainable ability to deploy a comprehensive and complete second strike to the heart of Iran within minutes should Iran decide to engage Israel in an all out war. Even if Israel is "wiped of the map" Iran and Syria have only minutes to pray to Allah. The US too has deployed a boomer to the gulf. Its preparing the waters for the arrival of additional carrier task groups slated for the gulf. The boomer is capable of detecting and analyzing electronic craft signal for hundreds of square miles. As we watch the slow march to war, be advised that all strategic and tactical moves made by Iran and Syria will continue to be countered by the US and Israel. The permanent placement of an Israeli sub (and I have no doubt its on its way) is Israel's way of castling its rook. Your move Herr Peter, hahaha. Rich from Boston

Well, you tell me. What would the United States do if Russia were to deploy nuclear-powered subs off the Eastern coast of the United States? Hmmm? Of course, the U.S. does deploy subs off Murmansk .... Silly you.
